We’re well into spring in November which is a popular time of year for doing Garden Tours. Thankfully, there are plenty of public gardens around Auckland where I live, that can be visited, even for free, and most of them I’m sure will be looking good at this time of year. The Winter Gardens at the Auckland Domain are a good example. They basically consist of 2 large greenhouses separated by a large courtyard and fernery. One the greenhouses is filled with subtropical plants while the other one focuses more on perennials and annuals, etc. and although one of them was closed for maintenance when I visited, the other greenhouse did not disappoint. I was like a kid in a candy shop not sure of where to point my camera first. It was a veritable feast of colours, shapes and textures. Plenty of inspiration for both the gardener in me and the photographer and artist too. The display of Foxgloves looked amazing. The fernery was stunning too and while there wasn’t much in the way of colour, there was more than enough textures and shades of green to make up for it. So if you ever get the chance to visit Auckland, be sure to visit the Domain and Winter Gardens. I’m sure you’ll be glad you did.

I wish I were sitting in an easy chair before an open fire and someone was bringing me a pie. I think I deserve one too. I've been working outside almost full time for the past 3 days doing my fall cleanup. I mowed everything for the last time today and it's looking fabulous. So happy. Isn't this the sweetest room ever? I adore children's books with interior design by animals. via

It has been so fun seeing Zeke play in the snow and mostly eating it! We are not sure if he has experienced snow before, but we think this might of been his first time when we took these photos! He was so cute zooming through the snow and running around! Jake and Zeke had a blast playing outside together! I enjoyed watching the two of them chase each other around the yard.[/bigletter]
Beltane is a joyous time of year to be a Pagan, but the sabbat its self is a difficult one to write. There are many things associated with Beltane certainly worth celebrating, but expressing those in a clear and positive way during ritual can be challenging.
Jonathan Jones: Lucian Freud's collection of his friend's paintings have just gone on show at the Tate – but why isn't Auerbach's art, which digs deep into the pain of postwar London, permanently housed there?
