Artist: Keith Haring Title: Silence = DeathSize: 39 x 39 in. (99.1 x 99.1 cm)Medium: Color Screenprint on Wove PaperEdition: HC 15 of 25Year: 1989Notes: Image Size: 33 x 33 in. (83.8 x 83.8 cm) Signed, dated and numbered to lower edge 'HC 15/25 K. Haring 89'. This work is hors commerce 15 of 25 apart from the edition of 200. In 1988, Keith Haring received a diagnosis of AIDS, and during the final year of his life, he dedicated his efforts to creating powerful imagery centered around the social activism of the AIDS crisis. One of his most iconic works, "Silence = Death," is an adaptation of a poster originally crafted by a collective bearing the same name. This poster would later become the defining symbol for ACT UP, an organization founded to advocate for visibility and an end to the AIDS crisis. The primary symbol in Haring's adaptation is a pink triangle, a powerful emblem appropriated from the Nazi regime. In concentration camps, gay men were marked with an inverted triangle, symbolizing their marginalization at the lowest rungs of society. Haring's reimagining of the original poster covers this triangle with a trio of figures, each representing the proverbial principle of "See no evil, Speak no evil, Hear no evil." These figures collectively cover their eyes, mouths, and ears with both hands, serving as a poignant allusion to the Reagan administration's deliberate refusal to acknowledge and suppress discussion of the AIDS crisis. This dual symbolism places significant culpability on those who turned a blind eye to the thousands of deaths within the LGBTQ+ community, drawing a parallel between the epidemic and a meticulously orchestrated genocide within a fascist regime.

"Family Portrait - Retrato de Familia" Print of Original Art by Karina Gomez Printed on Fade Free Archival Matte Paper. Signed on the back by the artist. 8.5x11" or 11x17" Fade Free Archival Matte Paper. Please note that the prints are centered on the papers leaving a White Border around the image to allow for future framing and matting. In some cases, the White Border could be thicker on some sides when the proportions of the paper differs from the proportions of the original painting. We prefer not to distort the images to make them fit onto the paper unless you request so (some images may appear incomplete or a little distorted). The "Family Portrait" painting was inspired by the love, unity, and uniqueness of every family. Every family is a melting pot of characters and every one has a little dose of craziness. The members of this cute and funky family are: Medusa Mom, because when your Mother is mad (you know why she is mad) and looks at you she can turn you to stone. Welding Mask Dad, because he can melt your heart with his loving eyes. Wrestler Brother, because he thinks he is oh! so strong. Flower Mask Middle Sister, with her school uniform and the more normal of all. Devil Mask Little Sister, the one that does the tricks but never gets the blame, with her little tutu, holding her pet and partner in crime. Get this Art Print as a funky reminder that Family Comes Always First. Great for yourself, friends, and families with a sense of humor. 184 pages 150 illustrations Released in March 2016 Hardcover in a Luxury Slipcase Dimensions: W 11.18 x L 13.97 x D 1.65 inFrida Kahlo was not only an iconic artist, she was also a bold beauty and an avant-garde fashionista whose timeless sense of style continues to inspire and influence the worlds of fashion, media, and art today. Fashion is an optical effect that Frida knew how to employ with shrewd intelligence and artistic intention. Frida knew that life is theater, and fashion was her costume. Frida understood the importance of image and attitude, no matter who you are. The canvas was Frida’s mirror, and she was the painter, the model, and the painting—author, subject, medium, and object. Frida was her own best work of art.Whether she was in Mexico City, New York, or Paris, Frida Kahlo’s unique multicultural aesthetic mélange created an exciting and matchless style that made her the center of attention wherever she went. The impact of Frida’s fashion fusion still generates an infectious attraction the world over. International fashion magazines feature editorials that clearly display Frida’s influence; fashion designers and models continue to channel her indomitable spirit; filmmakers, songwriters, and artists create new works that reflect her singular aesthetic. Fashion as the Art of Being is a vibrant tribute to Frida Kahlo’s bold character, style, and art, a fascinating journey reflecting the kaleidoscopic ways Frida’s unique story and personality have been interpreted and adapted as few others in our time.
