Desde que estamos con las viviendas ecológicas una de las cosas que mas me preocupa es la parte de la autosuficiencia alimentaria. La gente no tiene los conocimientos para gestionar un huerto, nadie les ha enseñado, o no tienen tiempo pues el trabajo y las obligaciones no les dejan. Esto me ha llevado a preguntarme que sistema puede ser mas sencillo para poder obtener tu alimento sano sin necesidad de ser un esclavo del huerto. Y he encontrado la ACUAPONIA, mezcla de los términos: Acuario (criar peces) e Hidroponia (Criar plantas en el agua). Esto ya lo hacían en la Antigua Babilonia con sus jardines colgantes y los Aztecas con las Chinanpas. Además el articulo que escribí hace tiempo sobre Piscicultura o Acuicultura o Creacion de Estanques para Peces Es el segundo mas leído de todo el blog, así que este seguro que también resultara interesante para todos, me incluyo. La cantidad de peces que se pueden criar en este sistema que imita un río son: Las plantas que se pueden plantar son como 150 variedades entre plantas de hoja, de flor de raiz o de fruto y tambien plantas aromaticas. En internet hay millones de imágenes sobre distintos modelos utilizados desde pequeñas estanterias hasta depositos gigantescos. Basta con buscar imágenes de Acuaponia en Google. Siete reglas básicas que hay que seguir en la acuaponía Inspirando a la gente a cambiar el mundo produciendo alimentos sostenibles en formas alternativas Hasta la fecha se han cultivado con éxito más de 150 tipos diferentes de hortalizas, hierbas, flores y árboles pequeños en sistemas acuapónicos, incluyendo unidades de investigación, domésticas y comerciales. Si estás comenzando tu unidad de acuaponía en casa, desarrollando un proyecto de acuaponía a gran escala o liderando una pequeña unidad de acuaponía en el aula, he aquí las siete reglas que debes seguir: Pon mucha atención en la elección del tanque. Los tanques para peces son un componente clave en todas las unidades de acuaponía. Cualquier tanque funcionará, pero se recomiendan tanques redondos con fondos planos o cónicos porque son más fáciles de limpiar. Recuerda: intenta usar tanques resistentes de plástico o fibra de vidrio inertes, debido a su durabilidad y larga vida útil. Garantizar una aireación y circulación del agua adecuadas. Hay cinco parámetros de calidad del agua importantes que hay que seguir y controlar: oxígeno disuelto (5 mg/litro), pH (6-7), temperatura (18-30° C), nitrógeno total y alcalinidad del agua. Recuerda: la química del agua puede parecer complicada, pero su manejo real es relativamente simple con la ayuda de equipos comunes para la realización de pruebas. No llenes demasiado los tanques. Tu sistema acuapónico será más fácil de manejar y estará protegido contra amenazas y colapsos si la densidad de peces se mantiene baja. La densidad recomendada es de 20 kg/1 000 litros, lo que deja todavía un área de crecimiento sustancial para las plantas. Recuerda: densidades de población más altas pueden producir más alimentos en el mismo espacio, pero requerirán una gestión mucho más activa. Evita la sobrealimentación y elimina los restos de alimentos no consumidos. Los residuos y restos de comida son muy perjudiciales para los animales acuáticos, ya que pueden pudrirse en el interior del sistema. Los alimentos descompuestos pueden causar enfermedades y consumir todo el oxígeno disuelto. Recuerda: alimenta a los peces todos los días, pero elimina cualquier alimento no consumido después de 30 minutos y ajusta la porción del día siguiente en consecuencia. Elije y espacia las plantas cuidadosamente. Alterna plantas con períodos de crecimiento cortos (verduras para ensalada) con otras con un período más largo (berenjena).
