"I think it is necessary to internalize the spirit of wabi-sabi in order to carry out this project. It will be possible to do this with a minimalist approach without unnecessary details. Since I wanted to create a minimalist house, there were parts that I had difficulty designing. I took great care in the use of materials to reflect the wabi-sabi style in the best way possible. In a room designed for relaxing and socialising, such as a living room or a family room, having a comfortable and statement piece of furniture is the key to creating a cosy and beautiful interior. Charles corner sofa is the perfect solution if you want to provide your family and friends with rest and relaxation. A solid piece of furniture with loosely arranged backrest cushions filled with silicone fibres guarantees both comfort and good support for your back. The fixed seat is made of highly flexible foam and reinforced with springs. The extended part of the corner sofa allows you to extend your legs freely and use the furniture in a semi-reclined position. The Charles corner sofa provides much more sociable space for several people than a standard sofa. The timeless design of this piece of furniture is worth noting too. The generous, geometric form with external stitching will perfectly fit into various living room styles. Whether you prefer Scandinavian or a classic style, the Charles corner sofa will help you create an impressive and functional relaxation area. You can choose from a wide range of upholstery materials, making it even easier to match the furniture to the rest of your decor. For easier movement of the furniture, the corner sofa is equipped with subtle plastic feet which also gently lifts the sofa. In the Charles collection you will also find a right-hand corner sofa if your living room layout requires the opposite configuration. Please note that this corner sofa is not modular so cannot be connected to the Charles Modular Pieces.

It's Easter Bunny Weekend as I write this. Call it self-isolating or sheltering in place, either way, most of us are into week five of spending a LOT of time at home. If you've been doing Easter Eggs this week or noticing the crocuses popping up along your walks, you may be contemplating the power of colour. Grey, white and greige have been mainstays on Canadian walls for many years, but that's been changing. Now's the ideal time to experiment with colour! Darker, saturated, neutral shades from Nordic design are making their way onto our walls. Incorporating light neutral textures, natural woods, and plants create cozy, relaxed, timeless spaces that soothe and nurture us. Here are some inspiring photos of a few of my favourite spaces. Indigo Black Designer Discount on Sherwin-Williams I'm exciting to announce that as long as we're sheltering in place, the amazing team at Sherwin-Williams in New Minas will honour my special designer discount of 35% off all paint, primer and stain and 15% off all supplies to those of you looking to take on a painting project. All you need to do is email me at [email protected] and tell me about your painting project. I'll set you up on my account and your love affair with colour can begin! Solutions for a Narrow Foyer - Part 2 See Part 1, here Solutions for a Narrow Foyer 5. Give your guests what they need. Your guests (and you) need a place to set down items like keys, smartphones, and sunglasses on arrival. A place to put handbags is a must and if there are handbag hooks, they'll do double duty for guests' jackets. Make it a rule that these hooks are for guests only, otherwise your narrow Foyer will look cluttered and your guests won't have a spot to hang their stuff. 6. Look for the sleekest options. There are many ways to accommodate bits and pieces, bags and jackets, such as a narrow floating shelf with wall hooks below or a narrow table with hooks fastened to the bottom. We were fortunate to find an all in one unit with hooks and handy compartments. 7. Make it safe. Ensure that whatever you put in your Foyer is out of the way, firmly secured to the wall. Even a narrow table, as it can be bumped and knocked over. Consider the height that you affix these items to the wall. You want to be sure that no one will bump their head or their face. The beauty of the one we found is the ends are rounded so there are no sharp corners. We placed ours at 54 above the floor and if children visit, we place a jacket or handbag on a hook to create a big visual cue to avoid accidents. 8. A mirror. Most everyone wants to take a quick check in the mirror when arriving or leaving. Make your Foyer friendly with a well-situated mirror. Bonus! A mirror will make the narrow space look wider. We're, presently, on the look out for a unique vintage mirror that's wide and not too tall to place over our shelf and finish off our narrow Foyer. The Frightened Family And now for a good laugh with vintage John Candy and SNL. The quality isn't the best, but the laughs sure are. Enjoy! https://youtu.be/ko7ZCSLfEFE The Frightened Family with John Candy on Saturday Night Live Until next time, keep safe, healthy, and happy.

About Mood sofa is part of the New Malabar's collection, future Classic. Alexander Rodchenko, considered one of the founders of the Constructivism movement, sought new art forms and modes of making art. Art, Alexander believed, had no place in the hermetic space of the artist’s studio. Instead, it should reflect the modern. Rodchenko’s work was heavily influenced by Cubism and Futurism, which featured geometric forms deployed against a white background. Inspired by this movement and its famous realistic abstraction art painting, Malabar designers conceived this future Classic sofa. Define your living room décor with the mood sofa that can be tailored to your design space and taste. Structured in walnut wood by our expert artisans and upholstered in cotton velvet, this modular sofa features a lacquered feet and three pillows. With carefully balanced proportions, its modular design and comfortable ottomans ensure that the mood sofa becomes a focal point of your decor.
