Centuries of Polish folk art are coalescing into new shapes in the hands of female street artists and even lingerie-makers.
They disappear from our landscapes so quickly, because they burn down year after year – Stanisław Wyspiański wrote about wooden churches in a letter to his friend. Culture.pl presents ten timber-scented wonders of Polish architecture.
The Marlborough rock daisy or Pachystegia insignis is a plant equally at home in native, cottage and formal gardens. A member of the asteraceae family of plants, this New Zealand native is a low-growing, hardy plant with spectacular white daisy-like flowers during summer and impressive seed heads in autumn. It looks especially good in mass plantings and in pots. The Marlborough rock daisy thrives in full sun in well-drained soil and is often found in rocky coastal areas such as along the Kaikoura coastline. Its leathery, green leaves with felted edges and undersides make it ideal for windy, coastal gardens and bluffs. It can withstand substantial drought but does better with adequate water. Plants will grow in limey soil and are salt and frost resistant. The daisy can grow up to a metre high and a metre wide.

A little walk through of how to sew the roof... i knew you'd want one! The pattern has ALL the sizes and Directions, so follow in the pattern for that (you get it here) In order to avoid flipping a triangle around the wrong way, lay the block out next to the machine as you sew Sew one side Press, this is important. If you don't press, you block is not flat so you create issues when you sew on the next triangle. Did you ever sew on that next triangle and find you were not on the straight and...

Narrow hallways are a pain in the you know what, when it comes to storage, and they always end up looking kind of messy with shoes all over the place. Designers Anna Pach Rudnicka and Radosław Janowski have come up with a great wardrobe solution named “The Milky furniture.” The wardrobe is divided into two spaces, one for guests and one for yourself. You can hide your own section with the attached curtain. In the upper section you hang your coats, scarves and hats. In the lower section you place your shoes. The wardrobe leaves the floor free, making

Because last week there has been a lot of work done to put a new row on the hexagon-top.... And then there is only one row of little flowers to go. After that the top has to be made square..... Ofcourse there were also a few little blocks made; even though not that much. Two little diamond stars and a little hexagonflower.... Dit is dan de sterretjestop zover.... Zie je ze twinkelen; prachtig he?! This is the little diamond star-top so far..... Do you see them twinkle, gorgeous, huh?! And I worked a lot on the "In my Garden". It so great to think of how to quilt all those different blocks! Het kleine eendje..... in de wind.... The little duckling..... surrounded by swirls of wind... De kleine kipjes..... pikkend van de grond.... The little chickens.... picking of the ground..... And these are the border-blocks, with a flowermotif in the larger triangles. It's so nice to be stitching inside and the wind is blowing cold outside....... Later on have to collect the grandkids from school; and also walking Amar in a moment (althoughshehasn'tgotanyproblemswiththewindandcoldatall...) Enjoy your stitches! Good Morning! Today kicks off the first day of the Cozy Cottage Calendar Blog Hop! This is the January page of my 2016 Calendar.... all photos were taken in my own cozy cottage:) At the end of the calendar are my instructions for the Cozy Cottage blocks and projects. CLICK HERE to get a copy if you want to make your own cozy cottage projects... as well as today's tutorial for my Cozy Seasons Mini:) This is the first little cozy cottage that I made. I made it out of my small scrappy stash while I waited for my Modern Minis fabric collection to be available for sewing all of the projects for my calendar:) I had so much fun making the cover quilt! ***WARNING*** These little cottages are addicting to make! And I LOVE the 8" block as well:) I designed this little "Cozy Season Mini" especially for this week's blog hop. It finishes at 13" x 15" A perfect little project to add to your fall decorating this season! I grabbed my scrappy stash basket and quickly cut the pieces. Here is the cutting for the 3 cute little fall flowers; Cut 18 - 1" squares from background. (yes! I said one inch lol) Cut 3 flowers...for each ONE: Cut 2 - 1" x 2" and 2 - 1" squares for flower top Cut 1 yellow 1" square for center and cut 1 - 1" x 1 1/2" for stem and Cut 2 - 1" squares for leaves. Sew them together like this... using an accurate 1/4" seam allowance. These are small pieces so be sure to press the seams open for less bulk. Add the Easy Corner Triangles onto the 4 corners of each flower like this. Press these seams open as well. Sew them together and press seams open. Add a 1" x 5" background strip to the top and press towards the background. Aren't these fall flowers so cute and tiny??? Set them back onto your design board and let's move onto the flying geese:) Cut 8 - 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" rectangles for the geese and Cut 16 - 1 1/2" squares from background. Sew an Easy Corner Triangle onto one side of the rectangles. Trim and press seams open... And add another ECT onto the other side. Trim and press seams open as well. Sew them together and press seams open. Add a 1 1/2" x 8 1/2" background strip to the bottom and press towards background. Now for the tree! Cut 12 - 2" squares out of bright fall colors Cut 1 - 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" and 2 - 1" squares brown for trunk From background; Cut 2 - 2 1/4" wide x 2 1/2" tall for sides of trunk and Cut 4 - 2" squares for ECT's. Stitch your tree together like this... then add the ECT's. You will of course need to add them onto the background pieces before you sew the trunk sections together. Again... Press all seams open. Now you have a cute little fall tree to add to your Cozy Seasons Mini:) Lay it back out on your design board and sew one 8" Cozy Cottage block from the instructions inside the calendar. Easy Peasy and Fun! Sew the flying geese to the top of the cottage and the tree to the top of the fall flowers:) Press seams towards the background strips. Cut 1 - 1"x 11 1/2" background and join the two sections together. Now for outside borders... Cut 4 - 1 1/2" x 13 1/2" from background... And sew to the top and the bottom first... then the sides. Time to quilt it!!! Cut batting and backing fabric 2" larger than quilt. Pin baste and quilt as desired. I used two strips of 2 1/2" x Width of Fabric to prepare my binding. CLICK HERE to see my tutorial on how I bind my quilts. Your mini is complete... wasn't that fun?! Hi everyone! Okay, so I said I wouldn't bug you until next week, but I made a layout guide so you know how we're going to be placing the blocks. The quilt is made up of 12 blocks, and the quilt will be assembled in horizontal rows. The quilt includes 18 houses, and each block pattern contains references to specific house numbers found on the coloring sheet. I numbered the houses so that when you're making a confusing block you will know which colors go where. As you can see, Block 1 contains House #1, but notice Block 8 contains houses #12, #9, parts of #13 and #16. My patterns only focus on one block at-a-time, and I hope by doing it that way it will break up any confusion looking at all those crazy numbers might cause. So far I have released patterns for Blocks one, two, and three, so you have everything you need to make the bottom row--1/4 quilt finished. Please let me know if you have any questions, and you can download a PDF of the layout guide, or coloring sheet here. Also, at the end of the QAL I will be compelling all these references into one PDF file, so if you don't have time to participate in the QAL now, you can get all the patterns and guides in one download in just one file. I won't make any more promises that I'm not going to make any more posts for the rest of the week, so I'll just say I'll see you soon:)
