How many of us have all sorts of stamps sitting around that we love and don't use? I am so guilty of that! This weeks' Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge is to use a stamp you love ... but don't use. Stop by the blog and check out all of the really cool pieces that my design team buddies have waiting for you to see. It's interesting to see all of the different styles of stamps and how they used them in their projects. I have to admit...I have cheated just a little bit on this challenge. I recently purchased Darkroom Door's "Fun and Games" stamp set from Simon Says Stamp. So, I've not had it all that long...but I haven't used them yet! And I do LOVE LOVE LOVE this stamp set! Every stamp in this set is so cool! Vintage, nostalgic and I wanted to use ALL of them on this piece! I almost did! I started with a 5x7 canvas that I brushed with Studio Matte Multi Medium and then covered with 7 Gypsies Life Tissue Paper. Then I heat set it. I love teal mixed with browns or sepia tones, so I washed the canvas with Studio's Classic Teal paint mixed with water and heat set it again. Next, I added a wash of Sable Brown over the canvas to antique it a bit. Then I heat set it. Next I rubbed some Graphite then Old Silver and then Copper Inka-Gold randomly around the edges and on the canvas. It adds so much depth and richness to the canvas. You will see the different in the next photo. In the meantime, I had stamped all of my images and sort of laid them out where I thought I would want them to go on my canvas. In doing that, I noticed a big blank area on my canvas that I didn't like. What to do? How about adding some of Wendy Vecchi's Studio 490 White Embossing Paste using her Brick Wall Stencil? LOVE it! Okay...but now the white is really stark against my finished background. More Sable Brown paint and a little Copper Inka-Gold rubbed on the textured bricks. LOVE it! In the process of putting my design together, I decided to add another smaller 2x2 canvas; covered the same way as my larger canvas to really give dimension to my piece. Here is that 2x2 canvas with the word "LIFE" on it. The letters are from Tim Holtz' Mixed Minis Grungeboard set. I first painted them with a Pitch Paint Dabber followed by touches of a Gold Paint Dabber. Then I rubbed some Inka-Gold Old Silver over them. Next, I glued them in place using Glossy Accents and covered them with Crackle Accents to really lift them off of the canvas. The different suits of cards are glued behind the 2x2 canvas using Tim Holtz' Memo Pins. I love the extra dimension and color they provide to that corner of the canvas. I really wasn't able to capture how cool these look in person. They are dimensional and crackled. The "i" is dotted with a Bingo piece from the set that has been covered in Crackle Accents as well. The Bingo cards were stamped onto manila cardstock that was distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. That wonderful vintage red ink color is Archival Vermillion. I then cut out the cards, distressed the edges with a Tonic Paper Distresser and then inked the edges with Gathered Twigs and touches of Black Soot. I bent the cards up a bit, added another Bingo piece to one card and layered them onto the canvas. The joker. Isn't he great? I love this stamp! He was stamped onto manila cardstock that was distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. Then I colored in the joker using my Derwent Watercolor Pencils. I inked the edges in Black Soot and glued him into place. Underneath the "LIFE" canvas are the words "ENJOY THE GAME". I stamped them onto manila cardstock using Jet Black Archival Ink. Then I cut closely around the letters. The stamp set has those wonderful domino images. So, I stamped them out using Jet Black Archival onto manila cardstock, cut them out, glued them onto chipboard for more dimension and then inked the edges with Black Soot. Then I popped the words onto the top of each domino and covered the words with Crackle Accents. When dry, I staggered them in place on the brick background. Finally ... the chess pieces and dominoes across the bottom. Originally, I just had the chess pieces laying across the bottom but they sort of died into the background. But, when I added the domino strip across the bottom ... POP! The chess pieces are stamped with Jet Black Archival ink onto manila cardstock and highlighted with the Inka-Gold Old Silver rubbed on their highlighted area. Then they are pop dotted onto the dominoes. Here is a different view of the canvas so you can see all of the dimension you can achieve by adding another smaller canvas, bending the Bingo cards, gluing the dominoes to chipboard before gluing them in place and pop dotting the words and chess pieces. Now it's your turn to pull out that stamp that you love but haven't used! Create something wonderful and post it to our challenge. You could be our lucky weekly winner of a ... $50.00 credit voucher to buy more stamps!! Or whatever your heart desires! You could also be selected as one of our TOP THREE entrees for the week...a nice honor! Good luck and I can't wait to see what stamp you will use and how you will use it! Helen Maxfield Printmaking I create small edition original lino prints. I love the different stages in the process of linoprinting: from the creative stages of translating my observational drawings into a design, to the physical carving of the lino, and finally to the magical revelation of the finished print! My subjects include animals, flowers, landscapes and people. I exhibit my prints in local art shows in Suffolk and Essex. At the fayre Helen will be selling original lino prints, available framed and unframed as well as hand made cards incorporating original lino prints. A Chinese postage Stamp. I love it. Today we have cloud cover. And I am watering my Not Yet Grass but things are happening since the fertilizer beads were tossed onto the surface and watered in- all the beads dissolved. That's some sort of "progress". I haven't chosen a book for today. I was "possibly" going to start a very small cloth. 4 by 6 inches. Small. Just to SEE if I like doing it. I got started watching some vintage Season One Law and Order. They are starting over. It was okay. Everyone is so young. As you can surmise...I am ambivalent about everything except the grass. Husband went out for a haircut. I heard the car return but I don't see him in the house as yet. I noticed on my credit card bill......many many visits to the grocery store. Like every two days. That has to stop. I know it's because it's hard to find enough prepared dinners for husband- last time I went I only found one. He needs 7. There was a time when I had a week's worth in the fridge. But that Time is long past. I might have to cook. And typing that made me laugh. I actually made myself a Big Salad yesterday and later had crackers and good cheddar cheese. That was me for yesterday. My bathroom sink is unclogged. Draining perfectly this morning during teeth brushing, face washing and hair wetting. At the end- the sink was empty of water. Not up to the rim. I felt pretty darn happy. My timer has gone off- I need to go shut off the hose- if I don't go right now- I forget and it waters the Earth the rest of the day until I notice.......and water is expensive here in Maine. Limited in Quantity.
Wonderful work from oppsadaisy a fashion student from Plymouth, I love her combinations of letters, photographs and stamps in these textile pieces.

I just love doing scrap pages using song lyric's as a base for them! I really don't know why I don't do it more often! You kind of have the song playing in your head as you're scrapping and it makes it all the more fun to create! ....I took this photo of Chloe, my 14 year old daughter with a few of her good friends. I love how much fun they have together, it doesn't matter where they are or what the weather is like, they always have a good time together (yep, that's mud on Chloe's knee's from rough-housing with the boys! lol!) When I look at this photo it makes me think of the song lyrics from the song 'Good Time' by Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen .... "We don't even have to try... It's always a good time" Here's a link to the song on Youtube if you're not familiar with it.... "GOOD TIME" Of course I just had to use the NEW Best Friends collection from Websters Pages to make up this page! This time I went with the blue's and turquoise colours in the collection since I was scrapping boys in the photo as well.....but, heehee, it didn't stop me from adding blooms to the page :) For this corner design I combined the lovely scroll chipboard from Dusty Attic with a cameo (Perfect Accents) piece from Websters Pages Best Friend collection. (the corner stamp is an older stamp from Websters Pages & Unity Stamps. This is something that I've used before on my pages, is a zipper that I cut out from an old pair of jeans (after going through two girls, the jeans were pretty much done anyway:) ....I used some of the beautiful lace trims that coordinate with the Best Friends collection around the zipper design. I made the blooms decorating this corner from the patterned paper from this collection using the Spellbinders 'Rose Creations' die cuts and some flower stamens that I found at my local fabric store. Here's a close-up look at the pretty new blooms from Websters Pages called Princess Petals....I'm loving that wide turquoise lace trim that goes with the BF collection as well! I though I would use up some of the left over scraps from the last two pages I made with the Best Friends Collection so I made up this tag... I did a little inking and stamping to make up this page....yep, I can't get enough of stamping lately! :) .....so tell me.....what song do you want to scrap in the near future? I love to hear what songs move and inspire people!

Happy May my friends! Spring is in full swing and all of the blooms are finally popping, providing a great backdrop for creating with the new 2024-2026 In Colours. These bright and cheerful colours are just what I need to help leave the gloom of winter behind! Our Stamping Symphony team is highlighting the 5 new colours--Pretty In Pink, Petunia Pop, Summer Splash, Shy Shamrock, and Peach Pie--for our theme this month, so get ready for some fun! My card also features a new core colour, Basic Beige, which has quickly become my go-to neutral choice. It has such a subtle impact while blending seamlessly into the background. For my card I started with a Basic Beige Cardstock base cut to 4.25" x 11", scored at 5.5". To that I added a 4" x 5.25" panel, also in Basic Beige, that I embossed with the brand new Eyelet 3C Embossing Folder. You'll undoubtedly see me using this folder lots in the weeks ahead! I watercoloured Petunia Pop (by far my favourite new colour), Pretty In Pink, and Summer Splash Inks on a piece of watercolour paper and then die cut the large floral die from the Thoughtful Wishes Dies for a beautiful ombre look. I love how easily these new colours blend together! That pretty circle die is the largest from the new Spotlight On Nature Dies. You get SO MANY pretty decorative circles in this set, it is definitely worth checking out if it hasn't caught your eye yet. On that circle I stamped the large leaf image from the Thoughtful Wishes Stamp Set in Basic Beige Ink, which added some nice depth to my focal point. I also splattered some Pretty In Pink Blends ink to help fill in the empty white space. My sentiment is from the new Unbounded Love Stamp Set and is heat embossed in white ink on a Basic Beige label that I die cut using the coordinating Unbounded Love Dies. I added a shabby chic bow from Basic Beige Bordered Ribbon; I cut the ribbon in half and tied the bow, then frayed the ribbon for the perfect fuzzy touch. I added the sentiment label to my card base with Dimensionals, and then decided to tuck a couple more leaves, die cut from Basic White Cardstock with the Thoughtful Wishes Dies, to add some fullness to my floral bunch. I love when I new catalogue launches and I get to play with so many new goodies! My use of the in colours is small but they are so vibrant they steal the show, and I hope you add one or two to your crafty stash this year. Please be sure to head to our hop over on Instagram to see what the rest of the team has for you this month, and I'd love for you to leave me a comment before you! Happy Crafting, Barb

Hello stamping friends. Welcome to Funky Folds Blog Hop #3. We are a community for like minded paper crafters who love to make cards with funky/fancy/fun folds and to share our ideas. Funky actually means “modern and stylish in an unconventional or striking way”. We are featuring cards that are not your usual rectangle/square portrait of landscape style cards. Each and every month the blog hops will have and 'anything goes' theme as long as your card has some type of 'funky' fold. I've made for you today a Star Explosion Pop-Up card using products from the beautiful Stampin' Up! Country Woods Suite found in the new 2024 - 2025 Annual Catalogue. I've used the tutorial and measurements from Sam Calcott at Mixed Up Craft. When the card is closed it looks fairly inconspicuous but when you take off the belly band and open the card up that is where the magic happens. Here on the front I've layered Basic White, Pool Party and the Country Woods DSP for the front of the card and then I've used Misty Moonlight for the belly band and added DSP, Ribbon, stamped images and die-cuts using products from the Country Woods Suite. On the inside is a scored centre panel that all folds in neatly together when the card is folded closed. When opened the centre circle piece pops up and stands up a little off the card for that added element and dimension. As well as using the Country Woods DSP I've also adde some of the Country Lace DSP to layer on some of the panels and used more of the products from the Country Woods suite to embellish the inside. I coloured the floral images in using Stampin' Blends Alcohol Markers and used the same floral images on the front as what is on the inside to keep that continuity from the outside to the inside. Stampin' Blends Used Flowers - Light Peach Pie, Light & Dark Petal Pink, Light Summer Splash, Light & Dark Pool Party, Light and Dark Boho Blue, Light Balmy Blue, Light Lemon Lolly Leaves - Light & Dark Mossy Meadow Teapot - Light and Dark Gray Granite I've even added some Basic White Panels on the back for you to write your message. This is such a WOW card when you open it. It's one of those cards that you hand deliver to your best crafting friend just so that you can see their reaction to when they open it. I do hope you like my Funky Fold that I've shared with you today. I just love how it turned out especially with the use of the Country Woods Suite products. This is another amazing suite that I've fallen in love with. Next up is Bronwyn Eastley from Tasmania, Australia with her Funky Fold. I can't wait to see what she has made for us. Rochelle Blok - You are Here Bronwyn Eastly Cathy Pinchbeck Julia Quinn Chantell Randall Cindy Mitchell-Clark Lou Kitzelman Rochelle Laird-Smith Jan McQueen Elizabeth Gross If you love to make cards with creative folds and would like to join in with our monthly Funky Folds Blog Hop, you are welcome to head on over to our community group on Facebook HERE to be part of the fun.
