When preparing my DP Language and Literature (English) students for important Internal and External IB assessments, I came across the term "global issues" many times over. It took me and my colleagues over a year to gain a firm grasp of what the IB means by global issues. This resource document defines the parameters of a global issue, identifies the fields of inquiry, and provides helpful examples in each field. I found that, while global issues broadly may be easy to define (think: save the turtles!), not all global issues are applicable to studying and discussing literature. I hope this brief resource document helps you and your students brainstorm potential relevant global issues! Feel free to message me with any questions or feedback!
