The rooster is usually associated with the sun and solar Japanese deities, which makes it the perfect image for a poster promoting Japan, the Land of the Rising Sun. In recognition of the rooster's bravery during this time of despair, this Japanese bird is symbolic of courage throughout Japan. Due to their relation with the goddess Amaterasu, roosters are regarded as sacred birds, permitted to roam freely around Shinto temples. Kurdish illustrator "Tishk Barzanji":http://www.tishkbarzanji.co.uk/35m8go4tvxnw0ynqvyckcacby1a221 makes surreal, dreamy landscapes in pastel shades, yet the subtext is more sombre than the aesthetic conveys. The foreground in most of the works is dominated by walls, Escher-like staircases and impossible architecture, and Tishk tells It's Nice That it depicts a personal challenge he once faced.

Sara Andreasson is about as multidisciplinary as creatives come. She’s a designer hailing from Wermland in Sweden who has seemingly made a conscious decision not to specialise in any one area. Equally adept at fashioning furniture from extraordinary materials as she is at illustrating exuberant images of altered classical sculptures and abstract digital images, it would be fair to say that Sara’s portfolio is a mixed bag of projects. But the consistent element at the heart of all of them is her attention to detail. Whether sketching portraits in soft graphite or taking still-life photographs of taxidermy birds she’s certain to craft each piece with care, displaying the talents of an expert despite clearly being a jack of all trades.

"Last year I sent a postcard to a stranger called Jonathan Hopkins. It said on it 'Fuck you Jonathan, fuck you and fuck your shit legs'." So begins Mr Bingo's manifesto of meanness; the illustrator has been hard at work churning out those brief, hilarious insults with accompanying drawings, so that you can skip that daily dose of self-administered loathing and order for it to be delivered to your doormat, in postcard-form, from a stranger instead!
