Bato Dugarzhapov (1966 -) Russian impressionist painter. After discovering and sharing Eduard Manet’s legacy and before returning to printed matters meet this Russian painter. (Left: bouquet, a detail) Site-links where you can visit Bato Dugarzhapov’s art are at the end of this posting. Selecting 16 out of the odd 300 I found on the Internet an impossible and unthankful task. Just ask me to “publish” 16 more. Born in Chita in the far far East of Russia, north of China and north of Mongolia maybe explaining his “wide angle” vision and why so many of his compositions are painted against the light. For photographers, besides the most interesting, creative and challenging also the most difficult light to pursue and catch. This selection a few my favorites. To get you interested in case, like me, you’ve never heard of him before. Now you have. 250+ to go. (Paris, Seine bookstall and banks) (Thaw) Konstantin Korovin (1861-1934) is considered the Russian Claude Monet (1840-1926). He was a contemporary of Monet. A century later Bato Durgazhapov taking Impressionism beyond Monet and Korovin. His picking up Light with a brush from his soft pastel pallet is extraordinary. Some of his painting almost “go completely abstract” but squeezing the eyelids against the sun the scene eventually emerges from the canvas. Comparing one can find examples of practically all stages of Monet’s artistic lifetime evolution. The same goes for Korovin . He must have studied both painters intensively. Korovin once was director of the Moskow Art School where Bato D. was a student a century later. His paintings are of course way out of my financial range but discovering him made me a richer man. Hopefully there will be a book in future. In my lifetime. See the gull in the sky !! It is no secret that I love the impressionist movement. But how exactly do you paint in an impressionist style? Many artists seem to use it as an excuse to paint sloppily. But really, impressionism is just a relaxed form of realism in my opinion. Accuracy is still extremely important in impressionism. In this post,

Immerse yourself in the vivid and vibrant scenic beauty of the Scottish Highlands with our enchanting print. Inspired by the breathtaking River Coe in Glencoe, this piece transports viewers to a serene summer day surrounded by the lush wonder of nature. Captured in the timeless impressionist style, the artwork is a symphony of brushstrokes that play with light and colour to portray the dynamic life force of the Highlands. The painting radiates the warm glow of the summer sun as it kisses the rolling hillsides, illuminating the scene in a golden hue. A myriad of greens ebbs and flows throughout the piece, suggesting the wild and untamed grasses waving gently in the Highland breeze. The centrepiece of this visual composition is the River Coe itself, meandering with cool, crisp grace through the valley. Its waters, a mix of tranquil blues and invigorating whites, reflect the sunlit sky and the shadows of the surrounding mountains. The dappling effect on the water's surface, typical of impressionist works, invites the viewer to feel the movement and the refreshing touch of the river. Dotting the riverbank, wildflowers add splashes of color—vivid pinks, oranges, and purples spring forth from the canvas, suggesting a natural kaleidoscope that captivates the eye. The stones scattered along the water's edge introduce an earthy solidity, with their greys and browns grounding the scene in the quiet might of the Highlands. This art print is a piece of visual poetry that celebrates the wild, untamed elegance of Scotland's landscapes. It offers a moment of tranquil contemplation, serving as a window into the serene majesty of a Highland summer, perfect for bringing a touch of Scotland's enchanting outdoors into your living space.

"Monet's Garden with Cat" is an original Impressionist painting by Robert Padovano. This paintings depicts the garden of the famous French Impressionist Monet in Giverney France. I particularly love the purple irises that line the path on each side. I added the cat for a touch of charm to an already lovely location. The painting measures 16 x 20" and is done in acrylics.
Captured in the luminous and expressive strokes typical of Impressionist art, this vibrant print evokes the breathtaking beauty of Glen Doll, Angus during the height of summer. The canvas is alive with the dance of natural light and colour, showcasing the rich tapestry of the Scottish landscape in a celebration of form and hue. The eye is drawn along a meandering stream, its surface a mirror to the azure sky above, playfully reflecting puffy clouds like cotton tufts adrift in the vastness. Flanking the waters are banks festooned with a profusion of wildflowers; their pink and lavender shades a swathe of colour that competes with the verdant greens of the grasses and the full-bodied leaves of occasional trees. The rolling hills and mountains recede into the distance, cascading layers of blue and purple that suggest a depth and grandeur typical of the Scottish Highlands. The contrast of light and shadow gives the distant land a softened appearance, inviting viewers to contemplate the expansive horizons and the quiet solitude of nature's untouched splendour. The composition is one of harmony, where every brushstroke conveys the warmth of the sun and the coolness of the breeze, encapsulating the distinct sensations of a Scottish summer day. Whether it is the rugged charm of the stones that punctuate the landscape or the playful flicker of light upon the water, this print promises to be a centrepiece, bringing the allure of Scotland's wild outdoors to your space.
Capturing the radiant charm of the River Esk in Angus during the bountiful summer months, this print embodies the vivacity of the season with an array of colours that dance across the canvas in true Impressionist fashion. The print showcases a serene view of the river as it winds through a lush landscape, bordered by vibrant wildflowers that seem to bloom before your eyes. A mosaic of pinks, yellows, and greens reflect the flourishing flora that lines the riverbank, offering a vision of Scotland's natural tapestry in full splendour. The sky, a dramatic and expressive element in this work, is filled with ample clouds that are both whimsical and dynamic, rendered with soft, swirling strokes that imply the gentle movement of the summer breeze. The sun, partially hidden behind the cloud cover, casts its golden light upon the scene, creating shimmering reflections on the surface of the river with hues of blue, lilac, and a hint of delicate rose. This illustrative print is a harmonious symphony of colour, light, and texture that brings together the tranquil beauty of Angus's rolling countryside with the fluidity and ephemeral quality characteristic of Impressionist artwork. The piece invites the viewer to take a momentary escape into a world where nature's palette is rich and endlessly enchanting, offering a timeless piece of Scotland's summer splendour for any space.
Immerse yourself in the vibrant hues and fluid shapes that comprise this enchanting abstract impressionist representation of Gairloch, a serene village nestled in the Scottish Highlands. This print captures the essence of the picturesque locale with a vivid palette that coalesces into a tapestry of colour and form, offering a modern twist on the serene landscape. The artwork lures you into an immersive experience, where bold strokes of blue and orange dominate the canvas, encapsulating the reflection of the sky and earth on the tranquil waters. The horizon provides a gentle contrast of softened blues and greens, depicting the distant rolling hills that cradle the village in their embrace. Foregrounding the composition, white-cottaged homes with traditional black roofing sit peacefully along the water's edge, their stark simplicity forming a striking juxtaposition against the abstract interpretation of the natural surroundings. These houses, reflected with a dreamlike quality in the water below, evoke a sense of tranquil village life, untouched by the bustle of the outside world. This piece offers a contemplative journey for the viewer, inviting you to interpret the fluid boundaries where land meets water and sky. The tactile textured appearance of the paints adds depth and character, ensuring that each glance reveals new layers of detail and emotion. This print from our 'Scottish Villages' collection celebrates the intersection of natural beauty and artistic expression, and is perfect for those who seek to adorn their space with a reminder of Scotland's enchanting landscapes infused with a contemporary artistic vision.
Every brushstroke seems to infuse each painting with a visual rhythm, like it‘s moving before our eyes.
