Mornin' hens! It might surprise you to know WHO I actually made this card for. Wait for it….. our local hospital! What?? Yup, that's who it's for. You see, I recently had a procedure done and was absolutely AMAZED at the level of care I received. While I was only there for about 4 hours, I felt like I was at a 4 star hotel!! Anyhoo, I just wanted them to know how much their kindness meant to me. Each staff member went out of their way to ensure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. Even when I mentioned I was craving my coffee (after not being able to eat or drink after midnight), within minutes my nurse was back with a hot cup of coffee for me. All I can say is WOW! I never expected such treatment. Sooooo, I decided to make sure they knew how impressed I was. I made this card for the staff and then bought a TON of cookies at the local bakery and stopped by the hospital and gave it to them. Hopefully, they'll feel appreciated by this little gesture because I DO APPRECIATE them! Ok, now this card came together pretty easy. I started by stamping the image onto some Neenah Classic Crest CS and colored it with my Copics. Then using my circle Nesties, I cut the image out but sponged some chalk ink around the edges before removing from the die. Next, I stamped the THANK YOU background stamp onto some SU Basic Black CS and heat embossed it with some white embossing powder. Then I cut the design out using my Stampin Up Top Note die and matted it with some black cardstock. To finish, I added some Glossy Accents to his eyes, and some black grosgrain ribbon tied into a little bow. Okee dokee, there ya have it! I hope you hens have a FABULOUS Friday and I'll see ya back in the hen house real soon. {{{hen hugs}}} Supplies: Stamps - Inkadinkadoo (Robber) and Hero Arts (Background); CS - SU Basic Black, New Leaf - Paper Trey Ink, White - Neenah Classic Crest; Copics; Mini Brad - Michaels; Button; Ribbon - Offray; Border Punch - Fiskars; Glossy Accents; Embossing Powder - Zing; Corner Chomper; Top Note Die - Stampin Up; Nestabilities
Good Saturday morning everyone! It's Dynamic Duos time again with a springy combination of Pool Party and Lucky Limeade. For this ...
My father-in-law is having knee surgery next week, and I made a card to send him while he recuperates. I think he will like this card, even though it sports some chocolate pearls and a bit of satin ribbon: I used strips of retired Stampin' Up! patterned papers on a Certainly Celery card base. In fact, except for the card base, everything on this card was a scrap, including the ribbon. Can I just tell you how much I love the Fiskars sentiment set, All Year Greetings? I bought it half-off (so it was $4.00) at a craft store near me, with the intent of using it on a lot of cards for submission to magazines. I wound up really falling for it. The sentiments are nice, the fonts are mixed and fresh, and they stamp like a dream! I don't need to prime it like I need to with other inexpensive polymer stamps. Another find I LOVE and have coveted for quite some time is the Botanical Script stamp by Inkadinkado. I kept putting off getting it because it retails for $11.99, for just one stamp. I found it on clearance at a JoAnn's store for $2.97! How could I pass it up?? If you are not my Facebook friend, then you would not have seen the message I posted this past Friday, about my 13 YO daughter. Some of you may recall this post, where I shared about her battle with anorexia last year. Since the beginning of this school year, she has spoken to several different health classes in her grade about anorexia. Part of the curriculum is about eating disorders. Haley told her teacher that she wanted to give these speeches, telling all the details of her illness. It was completely up to her, no one pushed her into it, or told her what to say. She is a 'pro' at it now, and feels very empowered during her talks. Last Friday, the students from the current health class gave her this poster, with individual notes of encouragement attached: It touched my daughter so deeply that she cannot wait to go to school tomorrow just so she can thank everyone who included a note. :o) Thanks a bunch for joining me today! Colleen Stamps: Botanical Script - Inkadinkado; All Year Greetings - Fiskars Paper: Crumb Cake, Certainly Celery, Confetti White, patterned papers - SU Ink: Close to Cocoa - SU; Antique Linen - Ranger; Versafine Onyx Black - Tsukineko Other: chocolate pearls - Queen & Co; brown satin ribbon; Big Shot; oval die - Spellbinders
Sharon has a super fun challenge for us today! We have to use Kraft and black on our projects. I love both of them so I LOVE this challenge, LOL! Here's what Sharon has to say: Friday, Oct. 9 - ssnotime108 - Krafty Black -- Today's challenge is in honor of all those who LOVE Kraft paper. It is likewise a little push or shove to those who rarely use it (and that would be ME!) The added element is that we MUST use black paper as well -- anything else goes, as long as you have both Kraft and Black paper in your creation. And, if you don't own Kraft paper, do your best to use whatever you have that is as close as possible. As always, we're an easy bunch. We just want you to play and have some fun with us! This is quite possibly the quickest card I've ever made! And I love it! I think it qualifies as CAS--sorta, LOL! And it's definitely "stamped simply". Last night as I was preparing dinner, I started brainstorming this card. Suddenly I remembered this NOEL stamp and I remembered this ribbon and it was DONE! Really! That almost *never* happens for me. I planned it all while I was mixing up a meat loaf and as soon as I popped it in the oven I ran to my Girl Cave and made this card. I don't usually "mass produce" but I'd sure consider doing this one. I'm thinking I don't need to explain too much about this card ;-) The ribbon has a thread of red running through it so I used a red button from the Summer Collection by My Favorite Things and a red layer of card stock for accent (couldn't be *too* CAS, now could I? ;-)) So, now it's your turn. Come along and play and take us up on the challenge--we'd love to see what you come up with. If you do, be sure to leave a comment on Sharon's blog telling her where you uploaded. Please use the keyword ssnotime108 if you upload to a public forum. Welcome. Time for another card for the CAS Watercolour Challenge We have a colour theme happening this month. Please check out the amazing projects created by our talented team and our special guest this month Darnell from djkardkreations. So onto my card. I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock and my Distress Oxide inks in pink and red. I rubbed my DOX inks directly onto my non-stick craft mat, sprayed with water and then using a credit card, I dragged the wet colour onto my cardstock. When the background was dry, I took my Curly Q stencil from A Colorful Life Designs and added some detail to the side of my card using more pink. Next, I then placed the piece inside my Misti and stamped the flowers and the sentiment in black. I added some red lines using the edge of my credit card, again dipping it into some wet red DOX ink. Since I had some wet ink still left on my mat, I used a paintbrush to splatter over the entire bkg. I simply mounted the finished piece onto some heavy white cardstock and then over an embossed card base. Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look. Good Morning Meet today's card. Just some simple inking and stamping on this one. I just picked up this stamp the other day at Michaels and wanted to play with it. I began by doing some simple inking down my card front using the Acetate Inking technique I showed here on my blog. It is simple and fun. I rubbed 2 colours of Distress Oxides onto my acetate sheet, sprayed with water and pressed onto my paper. Next, I placed the wildflowers into my Misti, inked with Memento black and pressed over the inked area. I stamped the sentiment the same way using my Misti and done. A very Clean and Simple card. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Thanks for taking a look. This is one of my new Darice embossing folders. I did expect to use it to make a card right away, but I did not expect to use the card so soon. :( A friend of mine in our stamping group lost her husband last Monday. So very sad. I trimmed down the embossed piece and stamped the wildflowers (from Inkadinkado) in black. I wanted to add just a teeny tiny bit of color to symbolize a little bright spot that Bill is no longer struggling, so I added the little butterfly punched with a Martha Stewart punch. Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you'll come back and visit again soon!
Hi, and welcome to my blog. So I was in my craft room the other day, tidying my card scraps into some semblance of order … well, when I say tidying I mean playing. I loved how some brightly…
TGIF everybody! I'm getting ready for a day on the town... mostly it's a big grocery shopping trip but I've got a few fun stops planned as well. I just can't resist popping into the big local crafty store, it may not be a Michael's or Hobby Lobby but it will do in a pinch. ;) So this quickie card came together completely different than I had originally planned. At first I was all set on making another Halloween card for today's post but when I was flipping through my Pure Innocence stamps this adorable little pumpkin patch gal caught my eye instead. Sure, I could still make that work for a Halloween card... kind of like the day before Halloween when she is gathering up all her pumpkins to carve. But when it came time to find some papers that would work I pulled out this Simple Stories Year-ography pack that I got in a recent order and that's when the new direction hit me. I mean, how could I resist using that 4x6 piece of paper when it practically takes care everything (embellishing, color palette, sentiment...) leaving only the colored image for me to do? Awesome! Speaking of coloring, it's funny but she actually kinda reminds me of myself a bit... short brown hair, roundish and always found in blue jeans and sweaters this time of year, LOL! To give the clothes texture I used some colorless blender on a scrap of denim for the jeans (you can see it done here) and on a scrap of terry clothe for the sweater. If you haven't tried that technique yet, I highly recommend giving it a go... I love how it adds interest to even simple images. :) Alrighty, time for me to hit the road. Have a good one! Supply list: cardstock- Bazzill and PTI paper/stickers- Simple Stories (Year-ography) stamp- My Favorite Things (Pure Innocence Pumpkin Patch Girl) ink- Memento tuxedo black and Colorbox chestnut roan Paper Trey Ink twine Copic markers: skin- E000, E00, E11, R00, R20 hair- E35, E57, E59 clothes- B95, B97, B99, YG95, YG97, YG99, W5, W7, W9, 0 wagon/pumpkins- N5, N7, N9, C1, C3, E15, E07, E19, YR12, YR15, YR16, YR18, YR04, E43, E44
Hello and Welcome. Just popping in with a super quick, simple card today. I think this card was so inspired by my need for Spring to arrive. Can you believe that I went with green and not blues?!! I began creating my card front by masking off the top and bottom portions as I wanted to keep the stenciling to the center area of my paper leaving some white space top and bottom. I rubbed Peeled Paint over my stencil with a sponge applicator then removed it. I stamped the clock face (an old stamp with no name on it) off to the side for interest. Next, I placed the flowers into my Misti, inked them up with black Memento and stamped over the stenciled bkg. I added some black paint splatters for interest as well. That's it. Welcome Time for another fun theme at The Flower Challenge. http://theflowerchallenge.blogspot.com/ This month our theme is One layer cards. Please check out the wonderful cards the DT's have created. Hope you will feel inspired to join us. So onto my card. I added a tutorial for those of you that are visual learners and for those of you that have never tried this super simple technique. Step #1 I gathered my supplies. Two colours of DOX, white cardstock folded into a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card and my acrylic block. Forgot to add my water Mister from TH to the picture. Step #2 Ink up your acrylic block with the Bundled Sage at the bottom and the Peacock Feathers DOX at the bottom. Step #3 Spray the block with water then press onto you cardstock trying not to wiggle it around. Lift and remove. You are left with a lovely, inky space to stamp over. Step #4 When the ink is dry, mask the inked area. I used some Post-It tape on mine. Then, I placed it inside my Misti, inked with Memento black and stamped the flowers. Step #5 I removed the tape then stamped the sentiment. A simple one-layer card is born. Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look. I hope you will come and play along with us.
