I share in today’s video a message just for you…. seriously… You are worthy of love just as you […]

Before I begin a new course or a series of paintings, I have to collect my thoughts. I spend a lot of time gathering various images, items from nature, poems, music, old journal entries, sketches, texture, and color. This process seems to move me in the direction I need to go. Right now, Magnolias, stories, a road trip, and sweet memories are on my mind. The beginning of something new!
An amazing blog with crafting ideas from the most talented designers at Sizzix.
Notes on a Dream was the title of my article in Somerset Studio in the January/February issue of this year.. Detail, Caterina Giglio, Waiting for the Rain. and referred to the whole body of work that I created for my last show... The Naturalists' Notebook Mixed Media, Caterina Giglio, 8 x 8 on cradled board, Waiting for the Rain. as well as all the new pieces that you see here.. Mixed Media, Caterina Giglio, 8 x 8, cradled board, The Similarities of Life it isn't unusual dear reader for me to create several more pieces in a particular series.. especially if the series idea haunts me.. Detail from Love in a Mist, Caterina Giglio as this one did.. the idea came to me in a dream.. and it would not let me go.. Love in a Mist, Caterina Giglio, Mixed Media, 8 x 8, cradled board. each piece represents to me the the beautiful imperfection of life and the ephemeral quality of nature.. The Eternality of Life, Caterina Giglio, Mixed Media, 5 x 5 cradled board. but even more than that they remind me to A detail from The Eternality of Life, Caterina Giglio. persevere.. to get up and resurface in joy.. my time may be short.. Caterina Giglio, Mixed Media on cradled board, 8 x 8, A Petition To Time. my life, may be just a quick season long.. The Shape of Things, Caterina Giglio, Mixed Media, 5 x 7 cradled board. but I can focus on the beauty around us, and as an artist, I must.. it is simply my calling to celebrate.. and to pass it on.. xox

When my painting didn't turned out the way I wanted it to, I turned it into a mixed media art piece. My favorite thing about it is that I used a photo of my child in the collage.
The Land Knows encaustic mixed media 6x4 inches
Good Morning lovely people out there in Mixed Media land !! Tracy here with todays Mixed Media Wednesday post........ I dont know about you but i am obsessed with every new mixed media product that i discover, the lure of playing and experimenting with something new is just too much for me to resist and before i know it ive made the purchase only to leave my new obsession sitting there gathering dust as i have no idea what to do with it !! Well no more !!!...... i am working my way through my materials and determined to justify each and every purchase... A couple of months ago i went on holiday and decided to take only my neocolorII watersoluble crayons (that i had had for about a year and never used!!) and some black and white acrylic paints as well as some background and feature stamps, and i am so glad that i did, the first couple of pages i created i wasnt very impressed with but as i perservered throughout my holiday and just experimented with them in different ways eventually i was able to produce results that i was happy with..... So.....What are neocolorII crayons ?? They are a crayon in all senses of the word and come is some fabulous colours, you can use them in the traditional sense and use them dry to colour, highlight and shadow your work, they are highly pigmented and the best this about them is when they are activated with a wet brush they turn into amazing watercolours, Are they Expensive ?? They are not the cheapest watersoluble crayons on the market however they can be purchased either in sets or individually and in my personal opinion the colours and intensity make them worth the price (individual crayons retail for around £1.40 or $2.00) and the fact that you can purchase individually means you can buy the colours that you want or just buy a couple to try out and see if you like them without committing to a more expensive set purchase. Would i recommend them ?? Without a doubt !!, they have become a real staple in my art journalling stash now that i have figured out how to get the results that i want and i love the portability of them when travelling. So if like me you have these sitting in your stash gathering dust, break them out, blow off the dust and get playing and experimenting, they really are a hidden gem !! Thanks for stopping by and visiting today Bright and painty hugs Tracy xxx
Hi there! It's time for a new video in my series "Mixed Media Thoughts". I'm sharing some of my intuitive art journal spreads in this series. All videos will NOT be part of any Design Team work. I pick the supplies that I wanna use right in this moment. Art Journaling is a very big part of my creative life. It means, I find time to get some mental relief, I write down the thoughts or quotes that are imortant for me. Creating in my journal is also some kind of art practicing. I learn a lot about the different mediums, I am using, and I develope new ideas to use in prospective work. Of course I will always give you a list of supplies. I know how frustrating it is, if you see a tool in a video and can't find out what it is. You will find the supplies in the video description. I hope I can give you some inspiration. Art journaling doesn't have to be perfect!!! The result must have a meaning to YOU. Your body needs movement your soul needs colours, patterns and words - no perfection! If you are interested in the first video check out the playlist here. Enjoy the video! Here are some close-ups: Thank you for stopping by! xx Susanne. Supplies: Acrylic Paints Gesso Rubber Dance Stamps WOW! Sparkles Gelli Printed Labels (Video Tutorial is here)
