Indonesian graphic designer Jati Putra Pratama creates surreal landscape artworks using photo manipulation. Much of his work consists of mind-bending scenes where dreamscapes are flipped into unusual angles or folded into each other. For many, Pratama’s compositions look like scenes that came out of the science fiction thriller ‘Inception’. All images © Jati Putra Pratama

Israeli Artist Netanel Morhan has always been fascinated with his dreams, he says he can have up to 10 a night and he remembers all the details about them. When he wakes up he keeps a record and creates paintings of few of them. In order to collect as much of the detail he can remember, he paints on 2m by 2m (6.5 feet) size canvas. In the following extract, Morhan explains how the dream and the notes morph into the painting: "After I choose to paint a dream, I photograph a scene with models. I combine hundreds of photos then into one scene on canvas to create and copy the dream to canvas." Now that we have seen some of what is in Morhan's head, the question is what is in yours? Freelance Polish Photographer Dariusz Klimczak constructs these intriguingly Surreal Images. The dictionary defines Surreal as: Having the disorienting, hallucinatory quality of a dream, unreal, fantastic. Have you ever had a dream you have just waken up from, where you wander what it was all about, made no sense? Many books have been written on the subject of symbology, trying to decipher the meaning behind bizarre dreams. Klimczak encapsulates this feeling with his images. Autumn. Dead Symbols. Dry. Dry Water. Equilibrium. Giratree. GSM. Gulliver's Travels. The Lighthouse. Non Iron. Relativity. Sanctuary. Sofa. Tree House. The World.
We absolutely love every single surreal photographer/artist that we write about, but much of their work tends to be rather melancholy or down-right dark. Not so with German art director Robert Jahns (a.k.a. Nois7 on Instagram), whose beautiful and adventurous images will inspire you and brighten your day. His images are surreal, but many of them are only subtly dream-like or unreal – it all looks like a normal photograph until you spot that one mystical detail that takes his image into the realm of fantasy.
