mainland. We share the same practitioners and have for decades. Living on an island, you have to be time and cost efficient, thus we time our visits jointly and always add in a trip to Costco or other tasks. Appointment times tend to be tricky. We are ferry dependent and if everyone on Whidbey Island decides to spend the same day in Seattle, lines can be long. There are many variables involved, older ferries with mechanical problems, breaking down at inconvenient times, leaving mile-long waiting lines. Holiday traffic, spring - fall tourists, weekend residents, and the "high summer" tourist crush, create long, ferry over flow lines. That said the surreal beauty of the commute across the northern tip of Puget Sound, across the Saratoga Passage, helps soothe any impatient nerves.
