For the more traditional bride, there's our Jalaine designer wedding dress. This classic bridal gown features a corset bodice with a soft scoop neckline and dainty cap sleeves. The cloud-like tulle skirt floats off the body on the regal ball gown, but it's the feminine frosted, floral embroidery that really steals the show on this romantic dress. Shown in Ivory/Prosecco/Honey.

Flower Power Machine pieced and hand appliqued One of my favorite quilts of last year! I was working with designer fabrics for a long time and at some point decided to make a switch for a change. I used some new fabrics and few recycled fabrics from shirts and scrubs from the Goodwill Store. The Applique Garden is progressing slowly but surely! I designed this pattern for the block of the month class I taught at Quiltworks Northwest in Washington. Mango Salsa After moving across the country, I took a long break in 2007. It was not easy to uproot the kids and move them in their teen years. They somehow made it work for themselves being busy at school and getting close to each other. I found myself with the burning question,"what now?" The fabrics were still in boxes and it felt like an enormous task to pull them out and set up the sewing machine again. Six months went by and one fine day I decided to be happy again! Mango Salsa was the first quilt I made after the big move. I am happy that I did! Leftover Salsa. Still needs some spicing up but overall I like the flavor!

It's been a busy day, but I wanted to post something 'pretty.' Something that tells you what kind of work I like to do...aside from quilting, that is. Now, you know that I haven't been quilting in a while, but I do still consider myself a quiltmaker, however, there is nothing new along those lines in the Nest just yet, and may not be for a while to come....but there are plenty of 'little things' in my photo archives for me to bring back out and show once in a while. I don't know about you, but I tend to forget just what I have made and bringing out the photos occasionally reminds me that I didn't just vacuum or do laundry, or buy groceries, or cook, or dust. Well, you get the picture. So....here are a few of my treasures.... all living somewhere else....happily, I hope. (I do still have one larger of the blue ones, which I saved.) I do appreciate everyone who has ever purchased one of my pincushions.....as they are made with love and great care. It's nice to know they have good homes and are loved as I loved making them. I really did enjoy making this little pink pincushion...very small and narrow....but makes a statement anyway. Oh, goodness! The Tea Cup pincushion.....painted that teacup one day and saved it for probably several years before I stitched the pincushion. That was fun. The rose pincushion on a soft green background.......that was an experiment that turned out pretty good. The Heart and Vine Love pincushion....I could stitch those vines all day long, they are such fun. Then, of course, the little blue square and a rectangular tiny pincushion stitched all in white embroidery floss in chain stitch...most of it one strand of floss. Tedious....but great fun. There are more....yes...several more...that now live in other places. Silk ribbon, embroidery floss, a bit of fabric and some beads and the work of my two hands...I'm so glad I love to do this work! Today I am remembering these and as always, thinking I should be making more and more, rather than less and less. Time will tell, I suppose...as time seems to fly past more quickly each day. Sure hope you enjoyed this viewing of them......one more time. Stay safe, warm and cozy, pat PS. Next time, maybe I'll show you 'another view' of some hearts since FEBRUARY begins tomorrow!!!
I realised that I haven't added many of these photo's here, so thought I would. These are of my Crazy Quilt with Grandmother's Fans. It took 4 years between 1992-1996 and I sold it in 2009(ish) for $70000AU.

All the blocks are done now on the quilt from last year. The next stage of putting them together will most likely take me awhile, so a few more close-ups and an all-together shot. Will take a better shot soon. Happy Jewel-tone Stitching Phillipa
I finished the last two blocks of Lori Smith's "Song of Spring," and it was fun to pin them up and just look at them. Each block finishes at 6 inches. I am thinking about a swag border... I have been so busy that I seem to do all my stitching in the car while waiting for my daughter or during meetings. Thank goodness these blocks are quick and small...they make me feel like I am getting something accomplished. Thanks to everyone who came to our sale! Mary, Ola, and I worked very hard to get ready for it, so it was nice to have people show up and take stuff away!! It was a good thing Mary had such a big basement...the weather was hit and miss. The bins we had outside on tables contained fabric yardage in baggies. Every time it started to rain, we would jump up and put lids on bins. I caught Mary with the camera...I think Ola hid when I pulled it out and started taking pictures. Then it got busy... We had bins of loose fabric inside, along with all the books, patterns, scrapbook stuff, craft stuff, etc. Here is half of the garage. Then Mary had her attached basement filled with a gallery of her finished quilts...I was so busy checking people out that I didn't make it in there until the 2-day sale was over. If you want to have a stash reduction sale, do it with friends...it is so much more fun! We each used a different colored sticker dot as we priced our stuff to keep things separated and Mary found a great garage sale "app" to help us check people out. It was a lot of work but certainly worth it! It was fun to get to meet people, although it was a bit of a feeding frenzy on the first day. I was working too hard to socialize! In stitches, Teresa :o)
