Doing some experiments with paint lately. Just playing with the materials and trying to find some interesting marks and compositions. I start with water spread randomly on the paper and then add acrylic ink. Then I draw with the pastels; some random lines and shapes. I finish it up with thin layers of acrylic paint scraped on. Usually making as many as 7 pieces at once to really loosen up.
About The Artwork My abstract paintings start with a few marks which then suggest other marks, and then colours beget other colours. Gradually something starts to build, but it can collapse at any moment. Pushing paint around is intuitive, but you have to be prepared for it to go wrong. It's about building a convincing, believable world that has fragments of reality among the teeming layers of paint. About The Artwork I am currently focusing on "painting the unseen" - as an example I’m investigating artistically about the wind, a light breeze, a soft movement of air – noticeably only from the effect the movement has on items of the visible world, that are flaunting, waving, streaming… And as much as you can’t really stop the air from flowing, I paint with uninterrupted brushstrokes – gestures you can’t roll back or correct a lot. An epigram of Erich Kästner, Socrates appropriated, beautifully sums it up: It's true: The questions are the ones from which what remains is born. Think of that child's question: "What does the wind do when it's not blowing?" Has the possible answer got something to do with the rotation of the earth, with air pressure, with meteorology? Or does the wind simply not exist, when not blowing – since the phenomenon is defined by the movement of air? This theme is about knowledge and searching, learning and exploring… Original Created:2020 Subjects:Abstract Materials:Canvas Styles:AbstractAbstract ExpressionismFine ArtModern Mediums:Acrylic Details & Dimensions Painting:Acrylic on Canvas Original:One-of-a-kind Artwork Size:11.8 W x 11.8 H x 0.8 D in Frame:Not Framed Ready to Hang:Not applicable Packaging:Ships in a Box Shipping & Returns Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.
