Vaikunta Ekadashi is celebrated tomorrow, 29th December 2017, and is considered the most auspicious of the 24 Ekadashis. Performing the prescribed rites and observing the fast on this day is considered equivalent to observing all the other Ekadashis put together. The symbolism of Ekadashi also takes on the satwa-rajas-tamas tendencies in man, as the legend of Muran the demon is told, and rice is not consumed on this day. But why so?
