Kids at home? Looking for fun craft projects to make with them? How about a fun origami craft? We've done a lot of fun Totoro Projects over the years (like these 3 Totoro crafts and this cute Totoro Corner Bookmark.) Today I'm adding to the Totoro collection with this super simple origami Totoro that I made with my 5 year old. (Isn't he adorable?) This post contains affiliate links. For my full disclosure policy, click here. Thank you for your support! If you're scratching your head and wondering, "What is a Totoro, anyway?" Check this movie out. Seriously. Such a wonderful piece of Japanese animation that even the youngest children can enjoy. Oh! And one more note: I didn't come up with this tutorial by myself. I saw it on an image via Google. I'd love to cite the sight for you, but whenever I try to click on the image, I end up on a flicker page that shares another tutorial. Ack! So if you're the owner of the original printed set of directions, thank you! Please let me know and I will properly cite you! How to fold an Origami Totoro (the easy way!) First, grab your origami paper. Place it white side up. Then, fold the bottom of the paper up along the diagonal so that top and bottom corners touch. (You should get a triangle where the top part is open.) Now fold the triangle's right side corner to the left side. Now fold the left corner to the right side. Now fold the top corner flap down. Now do the same with the back top corner flap (exactly the same, but on the other side.) Now flip your origami over so that it looks like this. Now fold back the two side corners to become Totoro's sides. And fold down the top corner of the white triangle to become Totoro's tummy. And snip off a bit on the top to create Totoro's ears. (Ok...ok... so this isn't completely folded. But I'm totally fine with that!) Grab your permanet markers and then doodle on a face! And that's all! Happy making, friends!
