The illustrious perfume House Houbigant has been in business in some form or another since the late 1700's and is still in business today. There is so much that could be written about Houbigant that it would take a book to fully address all of the achievements of this amazing fragrance company. Houbigant’s two perfumers Paul Parquet and Robert Bienaimee revolutionized perfumery and their work would influence many generations that would follow. The important innovations that they brought to the world of perfumery include creating multi faceted fragrances, using synthetic materials to achieve complex scents and creating beautiful imagery to perfume packaging, flacons and advertising. Houbigant hired the young chemist Robert Bienamiee when he was only in his early 20's. Under the tutelage of Paul Parquet, Bienamiee, became proficient in both the Art and the Science of perfumery. His first major success was Quelques Fleurs “a few flowers." Robert Bienaimee created Quelques Fleurs in 1912 and it is a benchmark fragrance in modern perfumery as it had a lightness and a brightness that had never been achieved previously. This fragrance is credited as being the first modern floral fragrance. Launched in 1918, this perfume was created by Robert Bienaime not too long after the launch of Quelques Fleurs. Staying with the essential femininity of flowers, Bienaime managed to created another quintessentially lovely fragrance with a strong floral accord. There is little to glean about this perfume on the Internet, but my guess at the composition would be something like this: Top notes are Neroli, Orange Blossom, and Lemon Middle notes include Rose, Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Lily of the Valley, and Lilac Base notes are Sandalwood, Galbanum, Oak Moss, Musk, Vanilla, and Tonka Bean Offered here is an exquisite 50 ml. sealed flacon in its original presentation box. This is a very rare perfume and little can be found on it among perfume experts.

People Knitting is a charming tribute in vintage photographs and printed ephemera to the ever-popular, often all-consuming, craft of knitting. When women posed with their knitting in the earliest nineteenth-century photographs, it demonstrated their virtue and skill as homemakers. Later, knitting became fashionable among the wealthy as a sign of culture and artistic ability. During the two world wars, images of nurses, soldiers, prisoners, and even knitting clubs composed of very serious small boys'all with heads bent down, intent on knitting items (especially socks) for the troops'abounded. In the 1950s and 1960s, as snapshots became ubiquitous, knitters took on a jauntier air, posing with handiwork held proudly aloft. People Knitting is a quirky and fascinating gift for the knitter in your life.

What is Over Blending? Over blending is what occurs when you mix your paint too much on your canvas. When you over blend you create problems within your work. Why should I avoid over blending? I usually avoid too much blending in order to create more interesting brushwork and to create a more interesting color harmony. If you over blend, you create two problems: The first is that you lose your brushstrokes and so the surface of the painting is less interesting. Now that is not necessarily a problem, because you can create very beautiful work with a highly blended surface. But a highly blended

Hello my dear friends, I should have shared this post some time ago but things don't always work out the way we want them too. As I am sure you all already know since some time now that I just love being creative as much as possible and I love the so many different ways I can be creative too. This year I am spending a lot more time sitting in my car, waiting for my younger daughter to finish high school for the day. I hate just sitting there with nothing to do and for a while I had been crocheting little snowflakes to use with my gifts for this Christmas but there is only so many snowflakes you can crochet without straining your fingers and eyes. A little while ago my daughter Ashleigh had found a lovely image on Pinterest and saved it for me because it gave her an idea. The image was of a little angel sitting in a tree knitting a red scarf and two little squirrels were her helpers. She told me of how lovely it would be to knit this red scarf. The perfect little gift to someone for a cold Winter season ... you see, nothing is nicer than having a nice lone, cuddly and warm scarf when it is cold outside. I liked her thought so much that I right away I started searching for the perfect red yarn to make this simple yet special scarf. I found what I was looking for at a supplier in Europe that I have bought from before. Only 4 days later my red yarn at my front door ... I was so excited! The yarn is so soft and lovely and the perfect color too. Believe it or not, the next morning my first scarf was completed and I was a happy knitter with the way it turned out. A simple design, long, soft and made with warm and caring thoughts, just like it could have been created by that little angel and those two little furry critters. And because I love snowflakes so much they all are embellished with some of my crochet mohair snowflakes as you will see below. And this is it ... ... my red scarf. But I didn't stop there ... ... it was so much fun to knit again and I have a thing for lovely yarn and that's why I ended up making a few more scarves which were these two. A lovely gray scarf and ... ... a lovely blue/gray scarf. Whilst knitting on my scarves, I had the idea for 'Wintery Woolens' ... 'Wintery Woolens' ... my new and second Etsy shop. It seems that many close their shops towards Christmas but I have decided to still open mine instead. My second shop will be a seasonal little shop that, next Winter, that will be open from mid November (which unfortunately didn't work out for this year) until the end of January for when it is cold outside. This little shop will have anything woolly and warm that I might create for the cold season of the year. ( That is what I am hoping it will be.) I just pressed the publish button and right now my new little shop is officially open and ready for business. You will find my first three completed knitted creations listed including a red scarf, so why not pop over and take a peek?! You can click on the link above or you will find it on my right side bar too. I would love to hear what you think of my newest woolly creations if you have a moment to spare. I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind. Have a peaceful and creative day.
