Good morning Krafters! How fabulous is the Kraft+ Facebook page with all your GENERATIONAL LOVE Challenge layouts, very heart-warming...I love it! Thank you to all who joined us. August challenge. EMBRACE YOUR HANDWRITING CHALLENGE This month will certainly be a challenge for many with our EMBRACE YOUR HANDWRITING CHALLENGE! Sadly very few of us love, let alone like their own handwriting. Though I’m a big believer in having your own handwriting on a page, as it’s so unique to you, it’s personal & rather sentimental. Haha take it from me…the person who has kept an old shopping list of her dad’s ;) So this month embrace your handwriting and get it on a page, whether it’s a lot of journaling or a single line, it can even be hidden behind tags, or secret envelopes if you find it too hard to handle, just get some of YOU on the page. As always, don’t forget the Kraft. Have fun with it! The Kraft Plus Design Team For this challenge I made an art journal page using scraps off my desk. I love the random, messy effect that scraps give to my pages. I tore the book paper then wrote my journaling on the kraft background between the torn sections. I used one of Deb Weiers' gorgeous little pieces of two people from ArtStacks and wrote "We're all in this together" repeatedly on the kraft background between the torn sections. This is a statement about world events, mainly the war in Ukraine and covid. I hope you'll play along with us! Not many of us like our own handwriting so this is a great challenge to get out of our comfort zones. I decided to write a letter to my son who turned 18 earlier this year. With the introduction of the new larger Dina Wakley Kraft journal, there are no excuses for me not to join in and create ;) It would be fabulous to see more art journalers join us. I’ll confess I’m not a huge fan of my handwriting, so much prefer it to be hidden, which it is here behind the tags, which pull out. I left 3 of them connected, rather than separating them. I found a cute little 6 x 6" Kraft album, recently with great quality pages, perfect for this challenge. "I used to be a huge letter writer, especially once I started travelling and once I moved Interstate. I loved receiving my reply letters from friends and family and have kept them all, among other keepsakes, in a box. I also had pen friends for many years and have always kept a written journal. This is what my journal pages are about It was great to add handwriting to this layout, I'm not as neat as I used to be, but I am ok with that!" Dating myself with John & Betty! Thanks to Mum the archivist! Hi all.. For this months journalling challenge I thought I would put some thoughts about Motherhood on my layout for my Daughter that she might just relate to one day!! I have fussy cut some elements out of the Mintay papers and added some lace keeping the design simple... and the journalling central on my layout.. TFL! August Handwriting... I added a handwritten list down the centre of my layout, as well as a handwritten quote in the top and bottom corners. I am a Hufflepuff! I’ve used a few different styles of handwriting & pens on my layout - & taken advantage of the challenge to tell a lovely long story about my son’s family & their covid adventures living in Vietnam! Hello Krafters! Welcome to a new month, I can’t believe it’s already March! A huge, huge thank you to all who joined in with last month’s INSPIRED BY FRUIT Challenge, the Community Facebook page is looking so fresh and yummy! Sadly we say ‘good bye’ to Rachel Rigden, who found the realities of life getting in the way of K+ :( We will certainly miss you Rachel. I know I found your creations incredibly inspiring. Thank you for your time with K+ March challenge. FRAMED This month it’s all about frames! The Kraft Plus Design Team I love working with frames on my layouts. I have used a variety of frames to showcase this photo of my youngest grand daughter, smiling and happy playing in the park Framed challenge Hi all.... I found an old paper with lots of frames on it from Kaisercraft, so I have cut the frames out and used them to embellish my page.. Some fussy cut flowers and die cuts added to finish it off.. I started with some die cut frames and also raided my stash for any frame I could find! Then I layered them with stickers and gauze and all the pretty things! This month I pulled out a large die cut frame and used it over some background card stock - just for a slightly different take on this frame challenge! March Framed challenge. My photo of rainbow lorikeets triggered many inspirations for this page. I framed it with a winged chipboard frame plus I added a rainbow and that amazing rainbow background from Lisa Oxley's new papers over at ArtStacks. They work so well against the kraft. How will you use framing on your project? Hello! As usual, I was a bit limited on time for this months ‘framed’ challenge, so my quick ‘go to’ is an art journal page. Super quick and easy when using the Dina Wakely 6x6 Kraft art journal. I’ve used some very old ‘slide’ frames. ... Hello Krafters! Welcome to February. Thank you to everyone who joined us for last month’s K+ REVISITED CHALLENGE. It was interesting to see what you all chose to ‘revisit’. As always, the FB Community gallery looks absolutely gorgeous! Thank you. February challenge. This month we are going to celebrate Summer’s ‘GOLDEN HOUR’ with a colour challenge of... YELLOW, KRAFT and ORANGE/RED. You are welcome to add small amounts of black and white. I hope you have fun with this month’s colour challenge. JANUARY ‘GOLDEN HOUR’ CHALLENGE The Kraft Plus Design Team This month I found some photos with a touch of the mood board colours in them, then raided my stash and had a great time simply plonking bits down. The frame makes a perfect journaling spot! I took my cue from the photo on the challenge board and used a sunset photo, orange and yellow. My photo had pinks in it too so I added plenty of pink around the photo. I used almost entirely old papers and embellishments on this page. Some of them are ancient but they worked together well. I hope you'll join us this month! Whilst this colour board screams sunrise/sunset I wanted to choose a different theme. I wasn’t sure what that theme would be until I found this photo and as soon as I saw it I could picture the layout. Originally I was going to scrap this photo used in the challenge, as it’s one of my sunrise photos...I couldn’t quite find the right photo on the internet for the inspiration board. Though while tidying up my ArtStacks products, I came across this art piece from Deb Weiers which incorporated all the right colours...so my scrapbook page turned into an art journal inspiration. I took inspiration from Deb’s art work for my background using a mix of Dina Wakley’s paints and Distress paint. I’ve added a chipboard figure and stencil card under the piece. I’m a huge fan of these colours, I hope you have fun with them too. I am in a tag mood this month, so I created my project on a small and a large Kraft tag! Was a great excuse to use my new Rubber Dance stamps. Thanks for the gorgeous photo inspiration Paula Perry. Summer fun , late afternoon on Christmas Day. kids loved the Slip n Slide, add some dishwashing detergent, for extra bubbles and slipperyness, makes for a fun afternoon I love how sometimes it's the smallest thing in a moodboard that can get your creative juices flowing. I was struggling to find a suitable photo when I saw the little figure which reminded me of the logo for Hamilton (a stretch I know but that's where my mind went!) And my sister was wearing orange. meant to be. Hi all, this is my layout for the February challenge.. I love that beautiful photo in the mood board and was inspired to use this photo of my daughter at sunset at the sunshine coast several years ago and I created my layout around the photo and the beach theme. Guest Designer This month please welcome... Lisette Smith I am so excited to be the guest designer for Kraft+ this month. I love a colour challenge and this combo is so me. I loved using yellow and orange with a sprinkling of red. The sunsets over the desert are absolutely fantastic and this photo was perfect for this challenge. I love creating my own backgrounds with paint, inks and sprays used with Scrapmatts stencils. I also used Scrapmatts chipboard which I colour and topped this off with a Charms star. I hope you enjoy this challenge as well and look forward to seeing your creations. ... Happy New Year Krafters! I hope you have all had a safe and wonderful start to the new year, welcome to 2022! A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for last month’s RAINBOW LOVE Challenge, the Community Facebook page is looking so bright and colourful. December is such a crazy time of year, so we really do appreciate the time you took to share them with us. This month we are very excited to welcome to the team... Debra Beer And Rachel Lowe January challenge. DREAMING OF TRAVEL Whether it’s travel plans for the future or travel adventures past, share with us your travel inspired creations. Under the current climate, it may even be your travel woes ;) The Kraft Plus Design Team Even though we may not be traveling at the moment, we have lots of beautiful memories. My partner booked a cruise on the Pacific Jewel as a surprise for my 50th birthday. We spent 9 magical days and nights cruising the Islands of the South Pacific. This photo was taken as we disembarked in Noumea. We had so much fun, eating, drinking and partying with such wonderful people Vaccinated and ready to travel Including a face mask Our travel prompt this month was an easy one, as my son and his family are living in Vietnam at the moment. I took the opportunity to document on life in a different country. This months theme is Travel.. My children have done quite a bit of overseas travel so I was inspired to use this photo of my Daughter and Granddaughter on a trip to Italy.. I have used travel themed embellishments and stamping on the back ground. I hope you get inspired by travel this month either from past trips or perhaps you are dreaming of some travel in the future.. TFL! I was extremely fortunate to get some travel in last year between state border closures. We had the most amazing trip! I printed heaps of my fave photos and arranged them in a circle. I printed some digital ArtStacks leaves straight onto my own geli-prints. I'm not sure it was great for my printer but I loved the effect! I hope you can join us this month, even if travel is only a dream for you! When sitting in hotel quarantine for 14 days all I could dream about was the great outdoors! With limited supplies I created this layout using Kraft (of course) and Simple Stories Take a Hike range of papers. Excuse my crooked photography - my layout is actually straight! January! Dreaming of past travel.... I’m definitely only dreaming of travel at this stage, in reality, I’m happy to stay home. My photo was taken by my daughter at Cairns airport on the way to Japan, 24th September, 2010. Funny story though, when I created this layout, I thought it was on the way to Fiji...which worked for ‘paradise’ ;) Before we left on our USA adventure in 2018 I was very excited. So what does a crafty lady do when she's excited? Make luggage tags of course! This photo printed with an unintended sepia tone, but I ran with it, and also included a tucked-in photo of our hand-made Holiday Countdown, and some of the same fabric I used for the luggage tags. Hope you get to do some making this weekend, no matter what it is Guest Designer This month, please welcome... Kate B. Cadieux Thank you so much for joining us this month Kate. ... Hello Krafters! Eeeck, June! Thank you to everyone who joined us for last month’s WORDS TO LIVE BY CHALLENGE. I loved all your quotes, certainly words to live by. The FB Community gallery looks fabulous! Thank you so much for the support everyone. June challenge. PHOTO INSPIRATION CHALLENGE Use this photo as inspiration to create your page, whether it be a layout, an art journal page or card...or anything else you can think of using KRAFT paper. Creative Inspiration The Kraft Plus Design Team I'm currently enjoying, working with collage and paint in my art journals. I love my little Kraft Journal. I took inspiration from the colours, wood grain and patterns. June 2023 Hi All! This months inspiration from the mood board came from the table and chairs, it reminded me so much of my Mums dining room table and chairs and I thought of families getting together to share a meal or afternoon tea.. I found this old photo of a group of my Family gathered around sharing afternoon tea.. The photo quality is not too good, but the memory it brings to me is so very precious.. My Dad passed away last year and he loved seeing all the family.. Now this is such a cherished moment.. I also used the colors from the mood board. Inspired by the colours and patterns of the 3 squares - I used wood grain, red mosiac and black and white stripes as features in my layout! Can't wait to see what others come up with. I’ve taken inspiration from the stripes & the colours - mostly the turquoise & orange alongside the neutrals. I sorta took the cosy vibe from the picture, too. Was inspired by the many different patterns in this graphic and its ‘old’ vibes. I have scrapped me in the seventies as a child I took my inspiration from the black and white stripes and the pink-orange pattern. To make my stripes, I took a digital words and quotes page from an ArtStacks pack and printed it at half size on both white and kraft cardstock. I tore these into strips and layered them at different heights. I found a piece of patterned paper that was almost identical to the one in the challenge board, however most of it is hidden behind the photo! What will your photo inspiration be? Such a gorgeous mood board! I drew inspiration from the red and teal colours as well as the woodgrain and ogee patterns. So much texture to play with. My art journal page. Guest Designer Please welcome… Denise Kimpton I had fun creating my page for the June challenge. Each month we are on the look-out for eye-catching projects for potential Guest Designers to join us. Hello Krafters! A pinch and a punch for the 1st of the month! May you not fall for any trickery this morning! A big thank you to everyone who joined us with last month’s FRAMED Challenge, there was such a variety of frames used! April challenge. BANKSY INSPIRED This month we want to you to take inspiration from street artist, Banksy! Take inspiration from this months mood board, or any of Banksy’s work. The Kraft Plus Design Team My layout for Banksy. when i saw this photo of my grandson I knew it would be perfect for a Banksy inspired layout. I thought a graffiti wall would fit the theme , I fussy cut 2 photos and added the balloons to look as though he was holding them. I was inspired by the little girl and the balloon, so I edited my photo to add some balloons and then used black and white colors for my layout.. Here is my "Banksy" inspired page. I created a black silhouette to mimic my daughter's dance pose. I could not bring the red into the page, instead using blue, with hearts on strings. Hello April & our Banksy inspired challenge! I’ve gone with a card for a change! Straight away I thought of BRICKS- so here we have a very close take on the bottom Left image of the heart balloon girl! Don’t forget you can do other projects for our challenges - not just layouts! Banksy inspired I don't usually get political in my artwork but Banksy's artwork often makes a social statement and I think a huge social issue at the moment is the invasion of the Ukraine. Banksy often paints figures in black and white so I found a photo of Putin and digitally altered it to look like it's painted. I added a quote by the Ukrainian president (I altered the quote slightly from the original) which I think sums up the ridiculous reasons Putin has come up with to justify this war. Banksy often adds splashes of colour, particularly red, so I used this to symbolise the casualties of war. This challenge was really interesting! I've learned about Banksy, seen lots of different images of art that may or may not be Banksy and appreciated the various political points. I hope to see you 'take the shot' on this challenge. Guest Designer This month please welcome, Ronda Ivens Here you go! I chose Bansky’s “season’s greetings” to inspire my layout My name is Ronda and I live in Northern Canada. I have been scrapbooking for almost 20 years and it is such a great craft because we have long cold winters, however I still find time to play with paper during summer too! This challenge got me using some of my stencils but I really embraced choosing an actual piece of Banksy Art to inspire my entire layout. I hope this months challenge stretches you to try something new! You can find me on Instagram @travelling_with_gonefishing & Amanda Moran Thanks for the invite to be the April Guest Designer. I love a good challenge and after googling ‘Banksy Art’ for additional inspiration I knew I’d be using a photo from our pre-COVID trip to Melbourne’s Hosier Lane with a focus on black and red and Kraft (of course) for this layout. I hope you have fun giving this months challenge a whirl - I know I did! ... Top of Form Bottom of Form Thank you both for joining us this month!
