6x12 print on wood Jigsaw Linocut Printmaking has been artist Leslie Nan Moon's passion since she took an elective class as an undergraduate. Her art is narrative in style and whether real or reimagined, it’s very Pacific Northwest. In her most recent work she is primarily using the technique known as “jigsaw puzzle linocuts”. In this method she begins by drawing and then carving her design into a piece of linoleum. After she has finished carving she cuts up the block and then applies different colors of ink to each piece individually. Next she puts the block back together (like a puzzle) before laying the paper down on the block and pulling a print. Ink must be reapplied by hand to the linoleum for each original print she creates. Leslie Nan Moon Losing myself in my art in a healthy way is one of my greatest strengths. I’ve always loved to make art but over the last few years I truly NEED to make art. It saves my soul. I am the mom to a 21 year old son with severe Autism and Intermittent Explosive Disorder among other things. Due to the lack of services for people like my son he is with me almost 24/7. We do a lot of driving around, visiting landmarks, parks and looking at wildlife.

An original lino print depicting a jaunty great eel winding through the city of Ely in Cambridgeshire, UK, where it twists around Ely Cathedral, Market Place, and Oliver Cromwell's House. Inspiration taken from the city's Eel Trail. (There's actually a whole host of other stops on the Ely eel trail, but the lino could only fit so many! Must shell out for an A3 piece next time.) This hand-carved lino print is also inked by hand before being lovingly hand-pulled on a UK-made wooden press. Each print is unique and original, signed and numbered by the artist. ......... Inspired by our local lighthouse at Nashpoint with its commanding position high up on our rugged coastline, overlooking the Bristol Channel. Although we rarely see waves crashing quite this high over the cliffs here interestingly back in 1607 there was a tsunami that came raging up the Bristol Channel which flooded farms, swept away homes and claimed many lives. The lighthouse is also a metaphor for Christian Faith - It is a guiding light offering security and hope. Even through the most fierce and raging storm the Lighthouse stands firm, unshakable and ever-reliable. This is an original hand drawn, hand carved and hand printed linocut print. A4 paper - image size is 15 x 21cm. The image is first drawn and hand carved into a Lino block. Each work is hand printed with environmentally-friendly, waterbased ink on heavyweight quality, FSC assured paper. Each print may vary slightly due to the minor changes in printing pressure, ink temperature & paper type. Each print is signed, and titled by the artist. I take exceptional care with packaging each piece with a mount and backing board to protect the print and ensure it reaches you in perfect condition. Each print is packaged in a fully recyclable or compostable cellophane bag, wrapped in tissue paper and posted flat in a stiff cardboard envelope. It is important to me that all the materials I use while making or packaging art are environmentally friendly.
