Children’s clothing evolved as time went by during the Victorian era. Many of these styles mirrored the adult styles of the day to some extent. Small girls wore crinoline petticoats like their mothers. There was a significant difference between the clothes worn by girls and their mothers. The length of the skirts worn by little girls was short than their mothers. Around the age of 16 a girls skirt would be full length down to the ankles just like their mothers. In fact, by this time the well to do young ladies would be dressing in the same fashion as adults. Until the late 1800’s girls were still wearing corsets. Below is a collection of 37 vintage portraits of beautiful teenage girls from the Victorian era.

Three Graces, Dancing Fairies, Three Muses, Orange Art, Ecclectic Art, Maximalist Art, Bright Art, Unique Art, Home Decor, Art Deco, Hi! Thank you for checking out my Etsy store. :) I love vintage art, and work carefully to restore the images for modern-day usage. Each photo / print I sell has been carefully edited, color graded and formatted by me to get it suitable for printing and home display. This print is a 12x18 inch poster print on matte extra heavy cardstock. It ships flat (not rolled up). It has a white border around the edges and comes unframed. I hope you love this image as much as I do, and it will find a special place in your home. Let me know if you have any questions! :)
Shallow, fickle, fleeting and excruciatingly awkward - these are some words that might describe dating today, as opposed to the more formal, practical and polite courting of our parents' era. How better to illustrate these differences than by contrasting modern attitudes to love with vintage comics from more innocent times?

Well I'm off to Jennifer Hayslip's "Once upon a Dream" on Thursday and I am so excited. Meeting new friends and spending time with old friends. We'll be in Asheville, North Carolina where the fields are green, and it actually gets cool at night!! But I've been wondering, what happens, when you try to change a West Texas Cowgirl into a magical Fairy? Will I turn out to be a storybook fairy? Will I earn a magic wand, and a bag of fairy dust? Arg! Or a spooky mean witchy fairy that grows warts and drinks pond scum, a.k.a., generic beer ? I'm taking all my frilly things covered in lace, Magnolia Pearl and then some. A lot of pink, and a lot of ruffles!! So, maybe by the end of the weekend I will have turned into a real live magical fairy! I'll fly through airport security, float into first class and sprinkle magical fairy dust onto all the cranky children. Then I'll fly home on the puffs of a cloud and a candlelight dinner will be awaiting me. Then I'll hear "The pilot will have us landing in 10 minutes, please place your seats in an upright position..." I'll let you know!! I wish you all were going to be here with me!

A hand selected mystery box in a light academia aesthetic with a vintage vibe. Feel romantic about mathematics? Swoon at the idea of going on an archeology dig? Love the smell of libraries, the tedious task of inking up your fountain pens, or just getting studious tucked away in the corner of a favorite coffee shop? Me too. With a focus on high quality and natural fabrics, vintage and well made modern pieces, all sustainably sourced, I aim to provide clothing and accessories in these boxes that will showcase your love for the arts and higher learning. Please use the personalization section, and feel free to send me additional messages if desired, to tell me anything you think is vital to know about you so I can build you a box you'll love. In part II of our series on how to date old family photos, we discuss how to use women's fashion to date old photos in your genealogy research.
At the beginning of 20th century, there was no Photoshop or plastic surgery, and the beauty icons of those times looked completely different from modern actresses, singers and models. Take a look at these 100-year-old pictures capturing the pure beauty of women who lived a century ago.

Alfred Cheney Johnston (1885 – 1971) was a New York City-based photographer known for his portraits of Ziegfeld Follies showgirls as well as of actors and actresses from the worlds of stage and film. Johnston was born into an affluent New York banking family, which subsequently moved to Mount Vernon, New York. Initially he studied painting and illustration at the National Academy of Design in New York, but after graduating in 1908, his subsequent efforts to earn a living as a portrait painter did not meet with success. Instead, reportedly at the suggestion of longtime family friend and famed illustrator Charles Dana Gibson, he started to employ the camera previously used to record his painting subjects as his basic creative medium. In approximately 1917, Johnston was hired by famed New York City live-theater showman and producer Florenz Ziegfeld as a contracted photographer, and was affiliated with the Ziegfeld Follies for the next fifteen years or so. He photographed several hundred actresses and showgirls (mainly in New York City, and whether they were part of the Follies or not) during that time period.
