Turon is thought to have started in villages in the Philippines among banana trees and agriculture fields. Originally, banana turon was prepared with thinly sliced bananas (saba or cardaba bananas) and a slice of jackfruit, which were dusted with brown sugar and served as fillings before being wrapped in a spring roll wrapper (Lumpia wrapper) and deep-fried until almost completely golden brown. In this recipe we use ube and langka as fillings, which make it unique yet so tasty. This is a great snack for everyday or having a crave for sweet desserts.
