Record Mirror was a British weekly music newspaper between 1954 and 1991 for pop fans and record collectors. Launched two years after the NME, it never attained the circulation of its rival. The first UK album chart was published in Record Mirror in 1956, and during the 1980s it was the only consumer music paper to carry the official UK singles and UK albums charts used by the BBC for Radio 1 and Top of the Pops, as well as the US Billboard charts. Known for its high-quality photographs printed on thick glossy paper Music Life was reportedly one of Japan’s best selling magazines during the 1960s and '70s and featured photos and interviews with everyone that was anyone especially musical acts that were “big in Japan” like Queen, The Runaways, David Bowie, Debbie Harry, Frank Zappa, and KISS... According to Dangerous Minds, the magazine got its real start sometime in 1951 after a failed launch five-years earlier in 1946. When a former member of the magazine’s editorial staff, Hoshika Rumiko, took over as the magazine’s editor in 1964, she also became the first Japanese journalist to interview The Beatles in London and then once again when the band came to Japan in 1966. Music Life called it a day in 1998 and Rumiko is working on a book on her life as a music journalist to be released in autumn 2016. 1965 - The Rolling Stones 1966 - Cliff Richard 1967/68 - The Beatles / Scott Walker 1968 - Peter Frampton / The Herd 1968 - Peter Frampton / The Herd 1968 - Scott Walker 1969 - Peter Frampton / Steve Marriott 1969 - The Rascals 1970 - Blood, Sweet & Tears 1971 - Joe Cocker 1972 - Rod Stewart 1972 - T.Rex 1972 - Alvin Lee 1972 - Emerson, Lake & Palmer 1972 - Marc Bolan 1972 - Mick Jagger 1973 - Rod Stewart 1973 - David Bowie 1973 - Mick Jagger 1973 - Alice Cooper 1973 - T.REX 1973 - Emerson, Lake & Palmer 1974 - Led Zeppelin 1974 - Mark Farner 1974 - Queen 1974 - Suzi Quatro 1974 - Keith Emerson 1974 - Elton John 1974 - Led Zeppelin 1975 - Queen 1975 - Queen 1975 - Queen 1975 - Queen 1976 - Steven Tyler 1976 - Queen 1976 - Deep Purple 1976 - Queen 1976 - Peter Frampton 1976 - Queen 1976 - The Eagles 1976 - Jimmy Page 1976 - KISS 1976 - Queen 1976 - KISS 1977 - Ted Nugent 1977 - KISS 1977 - Bad Company 1977 - The Runaways 1977 - KISS 1977 - KISS 1978 - Van Halen 1978 - Foreigner 1978 - Steven Tyler 1978 - Cheap Trick 1979 - Queen 1979 - KISS (via Dangerous Minds)
