Remember that beautiful summer vacation you took in Maine? This is a great way to keep that cherished memory. In villages all along the coast of Maine lobster buoys can be seen everywhere. Anyone who lobsters in Maine has to have their own unique buoy. These particular ones were in Bernard, ME on Mount Desert Island. This is a high-quality print of an original oil painting I did in 2018. This listing is for the print only and does not come framed. A variety of sizes is available. With each size, please select if you would like to have a border around the image to make it easier to put a matte and frame together. Please note the regardless of your choice, the physical item will be sized to fit in a standard frame. Also, for some sizes, in order to ensure the aspect ratio of the image is correct, there might be some white border on the top or the sides. Print will be packaged in an archival bag with a piece of foam border for stability.

This is a vintage 1980, Bar Harbor Maine, lobster-print, ceramic tile trivet made in Japan for DOWN EAST CRAFTS of Yarmouth, Maine. It is a square tile measuring approximately 6 inches in diameter. It features a large, red lobster with a fishing pier in the background. It is marked with the inscription “Bar Harbor” along with the date 1980 on the front. The backside is lined with cork and has a hook for hanging on the wall if desired. The front also has the remains of its original, price tag which says $4.49. The paper label on the back says made in Japan for Down East Crafts Yarmouth Maine. There is some scratching on the front, but overall for being 43 years old I would say the condition is good. Please be sure before purchasing as this item is NOT returnable.

A marvelous example of the ingenuity of menu artists, this 1940s cover illustrates how fresh lobsters were transported daily from Maine to New York – on the Flying Lobster plane. A giant lobster, its claws extended like wings, is superimposed on the body of an airplane. The Flying Lobster was a New York restaurant located in mid-town in the 1940s. The interior of the menu also has charming images – happy clams, dancing shrimp and singing salads. Courtesy Private Collection.
