ILLUSTRATION

Shelley Beattie’s popularity peaked during the 90's, as a multi-talented performer – champion body builder, American Gladiator TV participant, member of all-women’s America’s Cup challenger crew, nutrition company spokesperson, etc. Her successes were not without problems; she felt that her deafness prevented her from these lucrative endorsements & personal appearances. Not able to overcome these personal & business problems, she faded into obscurity & died in 2008 while still relatively young.
