What to say... First of all THANK YOU for everyone who supported this market of ours from near and far because it was AMAZING for our second year hosting The Found Cottage Mercantile Market & I felt all the good vibes and prayers you sent our way. Throwing a market is not for the faint of heart. It's super time consuming, a lot of hard work, & it kind of rules your life for a while. But when the market comes all that hard work is totally worth it. The Found Cottage Mercantile Market is a market where 150 vendors

I am back from another incredible show! Enjoy the few photos that I took. I was so so busy that I didn't have a chance to walk around and check everybody's booth. Sandra Lee's booth was on my right, loved the colors! To my left was Debi Watt's booth. Congratulation to Blossoms for winning for BEST BOOTH! So many friends to thank for coming to the rescue at the last minutes decorations.....delivering caffe', water. Ciao for now Rita
After a hot and sticky week, the past few days have been gorgeous with a cool breeze and just enough warmth to let you know that summer is here. Today was no exception, and I was more than happy to have the beautiful weather, seeing as I was vending at the Media Fine Arts and Crafts Fair! I don't think my tent's pride ever fully recovered after having to endure all that rain during Art Star, so I'm sure even my tent was glad to stand in the sunshine and cool breeze. This was my first year attending the Media fair as both a vendor and a buyer. I don't normally take a chance like that on a craft fair without at least attending it as a spectator first, but I had heard so many good things about the Media fair that I decided to give it a whirl. They closed down all of State Street and filled it with lovely vendors, delicious smelling foods, and of course, all the boutiques had their doors open wide to invite buyers in. The vendors seemed a bit sparse for such a large craft fair, but I think some decided to not show for fear of rain. As a consequence there was lots of space to roam about and for people to sit and enjoy the atmosphere without feeling like they were just being jostled from booth to booth by the crowd. I doubt anyone was complaining about that. All in all I would say it was a successful craft fair. I was happy to see many of my favorite items find new homes and I always enjoy seeing new vendors and products. I behaved myself and did not purchase anything from any vendors today (even though I wanted to!) because I am saving for a super special field trip next Saturday. I will tell you more about the adventure I have planned later. ;) For now I will leave you with this photo of me taken just after the fair ended. I won first prize in the fiber category and received a big beautiful blue ribbon. Clearly this sort of situation calls for a double thumbs up and much excitement. I haven't participated in a craft fair before that has been juried like this on the day of, so this was a really fun surprise. I was still just excited that I had been chosen to participate in the craft fair, let alone told that I had some of the best items there! I promise to try to not let it go to my head. ;)
Watch for inexpensive patio umbrellas at yard sales. They are great eye-catching additions to indoor or outdoor booths. Remove the old icky fabric and redo them. You don't have to do an expert seamstress job. I have seen some examples where they draped, glued, and/or stapled fabric or lace tablecloths over the top and it looked fabulous. If the original umbrella fabric is in good shape, you might just add some interesting fringe or trim. Take a look at these examples - Source Source Source Source Source Source Source Unknown :-( Source Source Source PS - I'm so sorry to have neglected my blog for so long. My husband is still battling lung cancer. He's hanging in there and about to start a fairly new treatment - immunotherapy. He's doing better than expected right now, thanks to wonderful doctors and the prayers of many - people we know and love and also from people we've never met. You are welcome to follow along on our facebook page and/or our blog. Rudy (my hubby) spends plenty of time each day sleeping in his recliner. When he's sleeping, I try to be still and quiet. The best quiet activity for me is to work on the computer - it's almost therapeutic. It's fairly easy to fit in quick posts to the VIntage Showoff Facebook Page, but I hardly ever have a good block of time (or energy) to do a full out post for the blog. I really love this blog, so I hope you'll all stick with me as I try to keep posting now and then. Having someone you love diagnosed with cancer certainly is life-changing and it's not all in a bad way. I have found myself becoming more clear about what I need/want/like and what I don't.
There is nothing as fun as going to an antique show on a glorious sunny day with a sweet friend, is there?! I was excited to go to The Vintage Marketplace with my dear friend Karen. Hello my friends! It's that time of year again when my every waking minute is consumed with preparations for a glimpse at a previous market at Hortons The French Market at Hortons downtown Tipton, Indiana. This years event will be held rain or shine Friday, July 7th and Saturday, July 8th. Rebecca's beautiful pop up shop from a past event That's just a week away! Even though I know longer produce this event, it's still one of my favorite shows to participate in. This year, it will be my only event as a vendor. You see, My new online boutique will be opening soon and I will need to focus on it completely for awhile. It has taken me quite sometime to decide on products to carry and even more time to decide what I wanted to focus my energy on handcrafting. I have been looking forward to this year French Market because I will be unveiling my new product line! I am so excited and a little nervous about this. So much of myself has been put into the gathering and creating of wares to sell. I really want to focus on things that I love and would purchase. I guess it's a little bit silly, but I want everyone to be able to find something that speaks the as it spoke to me when I found it or created it. So,if you can make it to Tipton next weekend....Please stop by and say Hi! Blessings to you my friends!
