Join us at Activity Village in our campaign to Spread A Little Sunshine this February! Every day, reach out to family, friends, neighbours and everyone who help us, to let them know how much we appreciate them, check how they are doing and try to brighten their day. Turn it into a project for the kids, encouraging them to think of something special they can do every day - perhaps sending a letter to a grandparent or auntie, sharing some jokes with friends or making some sunny bookmarks for your local care home. You'll find many ideas below, as well as printables to help that are free for everyone this February, to download and share. Spread a Little Sunshine Send a little message Sprinkle a little laughter Share a favourite recipe Post a little letter Give a little gift Let someone know you care! Ideas Here are some ideas to get you thinking, but I'm sure you'll come up with many more of your own. If you can do something every day, that's fabulous! If you can do something once a week, that's fabulous too! And even if the kids only send one short letter or postcard in the whole of February, that one letter will have made someone's day, which is what we hope to do. If you want to challenge yourselves to do something every day, you can use our Spread A Little Sunshine Tracker to plan your ideas, or as a checklist to remind you to do something every day. (And if you can't do something every day - why not aim for once a week? Eveery little thing could make the world of difference to someone feeling blue!) Everyone loves to receive a handwritten letter, postcard or note. We've got a printable page of letter starters to get you thinking below, as well as lots of sunshiny stationery, prompted and blank, and cards and postcards. We know that sometimes children don't want to write much, so we've also made some really mini cards to print too! Pop something in the postbox each day of February, or hand deliver to friends and neighbours when you are taking your daily exercise. Write lots or write just a few words - it's the doing it that's important! How about sharing a joke or two with family and friends? We've made some fun printables to help, including our little Lunch Box Jokes (I recommend tucking them into shoes overnight or putting them under the duvet for kids to find when they go to bed). Pop something in your window (or a safe window of your car) to share with everyone who walks by. You could use one of colouring pages or posters, or the lovely Sun Handprint Craft below. Do you have a laminator? You could make some weather-proof bunting to hang outside for all to see! Cut out or make a sunny bookmark or two. Use them yourselves to keep a sunny smile on your face, or pop them in the post to grandparents, aunts and uncles. You could even make a batch to deliver to your local care home, if allowed. Draw a sunshiny picture and share it! We've got some pretty frames to use below if you like. Make a little gift and attach a sunny gift card! We have many ideas on our Gifts Kids Can Make page and in our general Crafts section. Share a favourite recipe! Write out the recipe on our lovely printable recipe sheet and send to someone who will appreciate it. How about putting together the ingredients to make the recipe and delivering as a surprise to a neighbour? Or bake up a batch of sunny cupcakes and take them round. Don't want to spend money on postage? You can always take a photo on your phone of your children's work, and send it by email or text message. Our Spread A Little Sunshine Resources All these resources are free during February for everyone to print and share. Spread A little Sunshine this February with Activity Village!
