So you want to learn to draw from memory, but unsure how to tackle this subject. It may interest you to know that as artists, we regularly refer back to our minds when drawing. We need visual relocation or memory to create a drawing. So, when we talk about drawing from memory, don’t we really

A delightful, vibrant watercolor work by Frances Tipton Hunter commissioned either for calendar use or as a cover for an American mainstream magazine. A wholesome Americana depiction titled "For A Good Boy," this scene typifies the style Hunter was known for. A group of children marvel at the center boys new bicycle presented him on his birthday the card reads "For a Good Boy..." Piece is nicely matted and framed, signed lower right and addressed on the verso in the artist's hand with her Philadelphia Pa. address.

Here's a charcoal sketch from my sketchbook - I love it when I actually get to draw people dancing. It always ends up being a memory drawing, though, because they always move on very quickly - which is the exciting thing about dancing! I have so many sketchbooks, but my favorite is a spiral-bound one - not pretty with a charming cover as so many are - but I love it and just bought more. If they're not fun to draw in, what's the point? Thanks for stopping by!
An artist that uses his memories and skills, to reproduce key details, of the cities we live in. British artist Stephen Wiltshire, has a passion for drawing and painting, but it is his memory that plays as big a part, as does his art. He is able to take in and retain a lot of the information he is placed in front of, sometimes even if that time is quite brief. A talent that allows him to take mental pictures and then, recreate them at a later date, if he chooses to. I have tried to pick the most varied selection of places in the world, whilst prioritising my favourite cityscapes and urban drawings amongst them. I hope you agree with my choices and that you enjoy the following. Times Square - New York City. Press the Image to Enlarge it. Times Square Street Scene. Press the Image to Enlarge it. Hello, Little Miss Sunshine here. As an artist myself, I feel it necessary to pay homage to some of the artists who inspire me. Since the name of my blog is Rainy Day Crafts, my first post is dedicated to artist Andre Kohn. He has a magnificent collection of drawings and paintings, focusing on human subjects during rainy days. Although all of his paintings are breathtaking, I am more captivated by his drawings. Below are a few of my favorite. To view his entire collection, visit his website here. I do not own right to any of these images. All artwork is done by Andre Kohn. Love always, Little Miss Sunshine
