TWO MID-CENTURY EUROPEAN COINS - 1 from SWITZERLAND; 1 from NETHERLANDS; ACQUIRED by SELLER in EUROPE in 60s & 70S When I was single and travelling worldwide as a flight attendant for a charter airline (World Airways), I enjoyed going to Europe most of all. I spent money on a few souvenirs though not very many because wages were not very high for "stewardesses" (that's what we were called at the time). Even so, among the items I took home were coins from those countries. Two coins are featured here. One is a 10-cent coin from the Netherlands minted in 1966. Made of nickel, it is 15mm diameter and 1.21 mm thickness. It was in circulation from 1950 through 1980. It features a portrait of Queen Juliana with the lettering "Juliana Koningin der Nederlanden" That translates to "Juliana, Queen of the Netherlands." The larger coin minted in 1975 is from the Swiss Confederation commonly known as Switzerland. It says "Confoederatio Helvetica" which is Switzerland's official name in Latin. A 10 cent Swiss coin, it is made of copper-nickel and was first produced in 1879. The diameter is 19.15 mm; the thickness is 1.45 mm The Swiss coin shows a right profile of a feminine allegory of Liberty, with a crown bearing the word "LIBERTAS" (freedom), that is surrounded with the inscription "CONFŒDERATIO HELVETICA" (Swiss Confederation). The wreath on the reverse features Oak laves and acorns. The engraver was Karl Friedrich Voigt An ideal gift for a person beginning to collect foreign coins, both are offered together since they were acquired around the same time. About Michael Kenna is master of contemporary photography. Known for clean compositions, long exposures and minimalist aesthetics, Kenna’s signature style remains highly influential among a generation of photographers. Kenna views his process as a conversation with the landscape, each individual communion lasting anywhere between a few minutes to a number of hours. The images are transformative, and photographed in black-and-white because, as the artist describes, “color is what we see all the time.” He furthers this approach in the darkroom, spending hours on his exquisite silver prints, shaping the photograph to match his uncompromising vision. “I want photographs to be a mystery, an interpretation, a catalyst for one’s imagination… we fill all our time up with noise and chaos, so I hope a viewer can enter into a photograph and feel the beauty of this place, the calmness, the tranquility.” – Michael Kenna
I have always loved cute little things like this from my childhood, but then question, if I buy those little things, what am I gonna do with them? I wanted to give you those little treasures in a cute up-cycled jewelry box. This blue and red jewelry box takes its color scheme from Cracker Jack boxes. First I chalk painted it, then waxed it. The center piece was a non working clock, so that was removed. Then the 20+ mid century vintage charms were selected. I chose carefully to pick all different colors and themes. A few buttons from the 40s and 50s were added also, to give it more vintage appeal and charm. These little prizes seemed to be every where when we were kids, now I feel like they are so missed! Those simple silly little things we collected when we were little. I should add that these little plastic treasures are in great demand and no longer easy to find or inexpensive. The draws open easily, the insides are very clean. Only imperfections I can see worth mentioning are some warping of the inside fabric where mirror is as well as an area I had to use wood putty to fill a bit of wood loss on outer top left- you see a little bump in photo. I spend a great deal of time curating for my projects, giving them more than just a fresh coat of paint. My vision is to bring the delightful charm of older things into the present by updating something useful that was not terribly remarkable in its day and make it into something delightful. Everything I make is done with extreme love and care. I am not a professional, and I try to make the best decisions in terms of the glues, resins and paints, but if something should come off just grab some glue, and gently return it to it’s spot. Art is human.

Cool vintage stapler made by Unis in France, in the 60's/70's The base and metal head are made of metal in a green hunter color, typical color for lots of industrial items in France at that time and it seems to me to have an enameled finish . The anvil, the magazine and the hanger are chrome color finish. The chrome part / switch on top of magazine, slides with no problem and enable you to reload staples. This is a very cool retro office collectible. It would make a great looking little paperweight. The piece has its model name on the metal head " Jackyneuf 60" and the name of the maker on the front of the magazine " UNIS" . In very good, original and vintage condition, with some slight signs of wear commensurate with time, and patina of time. Some minor scuff marks (see photos.) Piece has been tested and works; springs work as well and body opens completely. It will be sold with the remaining original staples inside the magazine, so they may be old and you may want to change them or keep them, if you either are using it as an office supply or office decor, your choice. Superb piece for vintage or industrial decor. Dimensions: H: 9.5 cm x W: 13 cm x D: 7 cm When you buy second hand or vintage items it's not only a more environmentally friendly method of shopping, it is also a more sustainable way to spend money. In order to minimize or reduce waste, we utilize re-used packaging and wrapping materials, when shipping.
