Happy Monday! (or is that an oxymoron?) This week I'm bringing you a supply-based prompt. One of my favorite supplies to play with at my art table is washi tape, and I wanted to see how this would translate to digi. As usual, Lita has blown me away with her page. Don't you just love the way she covered the entire background with washi tape and then used additional pieces on top to accentuate her design? supplies: washi tape, Caran Dache Necolor crayons, Donna Downey Empowered Words stamps, typewriter roller stamp, Pilot permaball pen, flower stencil I have to say that even though this prompt was my brain-child, I had a really hard time creating a digital page that used washi tape as it's main focus. My page went through several evolutions and many hours of adding and deleting items before I came close to even being remotely satisfied. I finally ended up pulling many pieces of washi tape from all over my hard drive (please excuse the massive credits list below) to make a large stitched mat in the center of my page. You can find the inspiration for my journaling here. Tapes pulled from the following kits and element packs: Parcel 33 by Studio Tangie; Tangible Plans by Studio Tangie; Apple of My Eye by Jenn Barrette & Micheline Martin; Stickies by Studio 68; 20 Questions by Jenn Barrette & Lauren Grier & Shawna Clingerman; 2012 Art Journal Caravan Member Kit by Studio Tangie; Art & Soul Washi Tape by Tracie Stroud; Parcel 06 - Definitions by Tangie Baxter; Digital Art Journal Class Kit by Jessica Sprague & Nancie Rowe Janitz; Good Feeling by Shawna Clingerman; Other Supplies: Parcel 3 - Rubon Overlays by Tangie Baxter; Stamped Roughed Edges No 1 by Katie Pertiet; Parcel 33 by Studio Tangie; Celeste | Stamps by Captivated Visions; Keep Calm and Splatter On by Michelle Godin; Parcel 30 - Gesso Textures by Tangie Baxter; Mist and Paint by Kaye Winiecki; Captivating 2012 | August by Captivated Visions; Bad Sewing Machine: Gridlocked by Traci Reed; Journal Your Art Out 3 by Nancie Row Janitz & Fiddlette Designs; Burnt Thistles Mini by Sissy Sparrows; Fonts: junko-typewriter, ProblemSecretary We'll see you back here in a couple of weeks with a new prompt...I wonder what Lita will think up for us? In the meantime, now matter whether you play with paper or go digi, use some washi tape on your next page and link us up in the comments so we can see Art Squared inspiration at work.
I would like to think that my journals not only fulfill their purpose as pages for penning your thoughts, but are in themselves original wo...

The moon art quilt by Lisa Jurist
Hello Everyone, it's been a fabulous week here at the Brown household with Ken's birthday Thursday and our 40th wedding anniversary on the same day. Last night we celebrated with the children and grand children having a lovely meal out together and tonight we celebrate with a few friends and neighbours by having a summer garden BBQ. We just hope it doesn't rain after all the wonderful hot sunny weather we had in July. Today I thought I would share four altered playing cards that I have been making (you can seer the previous 4 here that I made in March if you haven’t caught up with them yet) Although I followed the ideas and techniques from Stephanie Ackerman, I am using images and collage pieces of my own. I save quotes and make my own sheets and print out to use in albums, on cards and mixed media projects. I won’t share the process steps in respect for Stephanie and her online class, but suffice to say I am enjoying making these and having fun exploring some mixed media techniques. Thanks for taking the time to stop by and I hope you have a wonderful weekend. hugs {brenda} xx

I love playing with colors. And this pictuer came out! I think it'll be used for a mini album cover. The mushroom is a handmade digi (colored with Distress Inks). You can download it here. Please don't share the digi! Share the link to this post. I used lots of diffrent medias. The background is created with Inktense Blocks and Gelatos. The sparkling Flowers are drawn by hand. I used stencils from The Crafter's Workshop and different stamps (a.o. from Kaisercraft and Crafty Individuals). I printed the sentiment. Additionally I used my white pens (uni POSCA and uni-ball Signo). They are both working great! They are very opaque. Not as the white pen from Inkssentials. This one does not work! “Beginning again is a beautiful choice…..The door is yours to open” THIS IS A SIGNED, ORIGINAL, THREE DIMENSIONAL (W/ ACCENT AND THREE DIMENSIONAL EMBELLISHMENTS) ART CARD. The piece measures just slightly over 2.5 x 3.5 inches on wood and is sealed with an acrylic finish. THERE IS ONLY ONE AVAILABLE. ORIGINAL CARDS COME TUCKED INSIDE A GREETING CARD PRINT OF THE ORIGINAL WITH A LOVELY RIBBON TIED AROUND IT! My creative reflections often travel into the deeper places of the heart where there has been pain, loss and deep wrestling with life's hurts. The sentiments also express the joys and revelations birthed through the healing process. My hope is that each of these art cards will offer encouragement that you are not alone in the depth of your feelings and offer a way to express compassion for the healing journey. These tokens of vulnerability are wonderful to enclose in a card to support a friend, as an addition to an altered book or scrapbook or to carry with you for a quiet moment of reflection.

This week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge theme is "Happy Hour." I'm not a drinker, but happy hour to me means curling up with a good book and sipping on some hot chocolate, herbal tea or apple cider. With that as my inspiration, I made these tea bag bookmarks. I started by cutting some tea bags and shaking out the tea. Then I shook on some Infusions color stain and spritzed them with water. While those were drying, I stamped and cut out four library due date cards using Inky Antics' Library Love stamp set. I designed this set and one thing that was important to me (an eternal librarian) was that the stamp was the real-life size of a paper library due date slip. Next I stamped my cards with Dina Wakley circles, then filled them in with white acrylic paint. I colored my circles in with different colors of acrylic paint. While that dried, I stamped, fussy-cut and painted in some twig sprigs stamped with Inky Antics' Branching Out set. I stenciled in some polka dots and painted them in various colors. Then I stapled the tea bags onto my due date cards. I also decorated the tags on my tea bags with polka dot patterned paper, more stamping and some acrylic paint. The tea bags were a little more vibrant than I had anticipated, so I added a bit of white to them and stuck on some Tim Holtz Washi tape. I stamped and fussy-cut some "Carpe Librum" sentiments and stamped some scallop borders at the bottom. I put some patterned paper onto some of the scallop ridges and outlined the bookmarks with black Sharpie. I glued the tea bag tags onto some of these bookmarks and left them dangling on others for some variety. And here they all are together: Here are the supplies I used that you can find at Simon Says Stamp: Inky Antics Library Love stamp set Inky Antics Branching Out stamp set Dina Wakley For the Love of Circles stamp set Dina Wakley Text and Scribbles Cling Stamps Dina Wakley Weird is Good Cling Stamps Inky Antics BIG BOLD BORDERS clear stamp set Inky Antics Long Hair Flair Clear Stamps Pink and Main Sunset 6x6 Paper Pad Idea-ology Ruler Ribbon COLLECTOR Design Tape Paper Artsy RUSTY CAR Infusions Colored Stain CS17 Paper Artsy SLEIGHT BLUE Infusions Colored Stain CS13 Paper Artsy SLIME Infusions Colored Stain Paper Artsy THE SAGE Infusions Colored Stain Paper Artsy Are You Cerise Infusions Colored Stain Paper Artsy Orange County Infusions Dina Wakley Ranger WHITE Media Heavy Body Acrylic Paints Dina Wakley Fuchsia Acrylic Paint Dina Wakley TANGERINE Heavy Body Acrylic Paints Dina Wakley LEMON Heavy Body Acrylic Paints Dina Wakley Lime Acrylic Paint Dina Wakley Eggplant Acrylic Paint Dina Wakley Marine Acrylic Paint Dina Wakley Ranger Night Acrylic Paint Dina Wakley heavy body acrylic Ocean Dina Wakley Ranger Blushing acrylic paint Dina Wakley TURQUOISE Heavy Body Acrylic Paints Dina Wakley SKY Heavy Body Acrylic Paints Ranger Archival Jet Black Ink Pad I look forward to your interpretation of "Happy Hour"!
