Oh, Apple Pie Bombs! Just saying that out loud makes my stomach rumble with excitement! There's something special about combining the classic flavor of apple pie with the fun, portable nature of little hand-held bombs of joy. I remember the first time I made these—I was trying to impress some friends for a cozy movie night. To my delight, they were not only impressed but couldn't stop going back for seconds! What I love most about Apple Pie Bombs is how they capture the essence of fall: warm apples, spices, and buttery crust all nestled into one delightful treat. Plus, they are super easy to make, which means they are perfect for those casual gatherings or just a treat for yourself after a long day. Just imagine biting into that flaky crust and being greeted by warm, gooey apple filling. Yumm! What's in Apple Pie Bombs? Let’s break down the star players in this delicious recipe: Pie Crust: A flaky and buttery crust is a must for that classic pie taste. You can use store-bought crust, but if you’re feeling ambitious, a homemade crust is unbeatable! Apples: Sweet apples such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work wonderfully here. They provide that perfect mix of tart and sweet to balance out the dish. Sugar: You can’t have pie without a little sweetness! Regular granulated sugar will do the trick, but feel free to experiment with brown sugar for a deeper flavor. Cinnamon: A warm spice that gives these bombs that nostalgic apple pie flavor. It’s amazing how just a teaspoon can make everything taste like fall. Butter: Melted butter adds richness to the crust and helps give it that golden brown color when baked. And hey, who doesn’t love butter? Is Apple Pie Bombs Good for You? Alright, let’s chat a bit about health, shall we? While Apple Pie Bombs aren’t exactly a health food, they do have some redeeming qualities. Apples: Are, of course, a fantastic source of vitamins and fiber. They give the bombs some nutritional value and also help fill you up! Cinnamon: Has been linked to various health benefits, including anti-inflammatory properties and possibly even lowering blood sugar levels. That said, these sweet treats are still high in sugar and carbohydrates, especially from the pie crust. Indulging in moderation is key, and maybe pairing these with some whipped cream or ice cream would be a delightful touch—but you didn’t hear that from me! Ingredients List - 1 package of pie crust (enough for 2 crusts) - 3 medium apples (peeled, cored, and diced) - 1/2 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste) - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon - 4 tablespoons butter (melted and for brushing) - Sugar for sprinkling on top This recipe makes about 10-12 Apple Pie Bombs—perfect for sharing... or not! How to Make Apple Pie Bombs? 1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). 2. Prep your apples by peeling, coring, and cutting them into small pieces. 3. In a large bowl, combine the diced apples with sugar and cinnamon. Stir until the apples are well-coated. 4. Roll out the pie crust on a floured surface and cut it into circles (about 6 inches in diameter). 5. Place some of that delicious apple filling in the center of each dough circle. 6. Fold the dough over and pinch the edges to seal them tightly. 7. Brush the tops of the bombs with melted butter and sprinkle a little sugar on each one for that extra crunch. 8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until they turn golden brown. 9. Once baked, let them cool slightly before digging in. Little Tips for Big Flavor! - Feel free to mix in some chopped nuts or raisins into the apple filling for added texture. - If you have a sweet tooth, a drizzle of caramel sauce over the baked bombs can take them to another level! - Want to spice things up? A dash of nutmeg or vanilla extract in the apple mixture can add a unique twist. I absolutely encourage you to give these Apple Pie Bombs a try! Whether it’s for a special occasion or just to enjoy during a cozy night in, I promise they won’t disappoint. Let me know how it goes, and if you have any fun variations, I’d love to hear about them! Happy baking!
