Who’s up for a mountain home with a 272-acre backyard? This home is too good to be true.
We’re not sure what it is about fall, but as soon as it hits, this escapism mechanism in our brains just starts screaming, “get me to a cozy cabin!” And as soon as that little alarm goes off, we’re off the races exploring tiny houses, log cabins, cozy cottages and A-frame getaways of every location, size and style. But don’t worry. We won’t keep all the goods to ourselves. Here’s a round-up of all the cushy, comfy, cozy spots we love this year, many that were suggested directly by you, our readers. Some have been around a while, others are brand new to the scene or just about to open. Mixed among the options are Adirondack cabins in the mountains, cottages along the lakeshore, hot spring havens and summer camps that are open for fall and winter too. Reporter: Alyssa Brown

Beautiful exterior lines, stone and wood accents, and a grand open-gable entry sets the stage for this Modern Mountain house plan. Inside, the ornate great room does not disappoint with its vaulted ceiling, fireplace, and oversized sliding door leading to the back covered deck. The adjoining kitchen presents a multi-purpose island (5' by 9'6"), ample workspace, a 6-burner range, and an expansive pantry (8'2" by 11'4") for buying in bulk. Take the hallway to the right of the foyer to find a quiet study across from the master suite. A vaulted ceiling enhances the master and the 5-fixture ensuite is paired with his and hers closets. A mud / laundry combo room resides just inside from the 3-car garage, and neighbors a guest room with a full bath. Increase the bedroom count from two to four when you finish the lower level (a total 2,014 sq ft) and enjoy the generous great room with a game nook, wet bar, and corner fireplace. A spiral staircase guides you from the lower covered patio to the deck above.

The main level is where you'll find a spacious den, along with two bedrooms, a full bath, and the utility / mechanical room. The heart of the home is located on the second level where the ceiling goes from 8' in the back to 17' in the front.
