2017 Reprint of 1919 Edition. "Mutual Aid: A Factor of Evolution" is a 1902 work by Russian anarchist philosopher Peter Kropotkin. Kropotkin explores the role of mutually-beneficial cooperation and reciprocity (or "mutual aid") in the animal kingdom and human societies both past and present. It is an argument against the competition-centered theories of so-called social Darwinism, as well as the romantic depictions of cooperation presented by writers such as Jean-Jacques Rousseau, who argued it was motivated by universal love rather than self-interest. "Mutual Aid" is considered a fundamental text in anarchist communism, presenting a scientific basis for communism alternative to the historical materialism of the Marxists. Many biologists also consider it an important catalyst in the scientific study of cooperation. | Author: Peter Kropotkin | Publisher: Martino Fne Books | Publication Date: Feb 13, 2017 | Number of Pages: 294 pages | Language: English | Binding: Paperback | ISBN-10: 168422070X | ISBN-13: 9781684220700

Woven Basket Nest technique This unique basket is made using the nest technique and has two spirals that move in opposite directions, but with a mutual meeting point. That's why I call it "Mutual Trurh" This emphasizes the idea that although we move in different directions, we still cross at the point where the truth we are seeking is mutual - development. I am especially fond of this basket as I made it after a 6 month creativety barrier. ¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨°º°¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨°º°¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨°º°¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨°º°¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨ Approx measurements; 29x35x35 cm 11.5x14x14 inch ¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨°º°¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨°º°¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨°º°¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨°º°¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨ Color; My items are made to order, if you would like to choose your own colors from the palette you are welcome to convo me and I will be happy to advise you. ¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨°º°¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨°º°¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨°º°¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨°º°¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨ °º° Please note, this item is handmade & hand dyed; please expect slight variations. ¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨°º°¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨°º°¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨°º°¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨°º°¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨ Care instructions; rinse with water. Primitive forms combine with industrial materials to create the 'Proportions of Stone' series by Seoul-based designer Sisan Lee. Consisting of functional pieces including tables, chairs, and shelving, ÔProportions of StoneÕ combines primitive, natural forms of stone with industrial and futuristic structures of steel. The strong, geometric steel against the organic stone reveals an arresting juxtaposition of elements, simultaneously highlighting and questioning materiality. For Lee, the stone is the starting point for each piece and this is evident throughoutÑthe steel appears to have formed around the organic object, mimicking the natural construction of its counterpart. Stone and steel both symbolize strength and structure however the process of their making is very different. Steel, forged by heat and human intervention, is often sleek and precise in its finished state. Stone however, could be regarded as the epitome of natural forms; it is carved by the elements over thousands of years. Bringing together these natural and artificial elements could easily appear incongruous but in LeeÕs work it is harmonious, with both elements appearing to strengthen one another. This unexpected balance also contributes to the structural integrity of the piecesÑthe stones provide weighted support, ensuring they stay grounded. This contrasting of elements is brought together through shared functionality: with each piece, Lee highlights a distinct visual tension whilst emphasizing a delicate coexistence. Each piece is made-to-order and uses scavenged stones, so please expect some variability in design. Designed and produced by the Seoul-based Sisan Lee.
