Signs of Spring ~ Daffodils in Bloom
my favourite part of spring is all the forget-me-nots in bloom🌿🌸
Since I saw Willie's picture from his iphone, I knew I had to go ASAP, the flowers probably passed prime time. This day was only day I could get out of work earlier, but the weather didn't cooperate. No clouds could be seen from Santa Cruz coast, satellite was clear whole day. I debated to myself weather I should start heading down to big sur or not ... Here is what I got that day. Sometimes we have to trust our own intuition. Side notes to James: you should have gone with me ... Happy Spring Break, everyone!
Sweetest of the flowers a-blooming in the fragrant vernal days is the lily-of-the-valley with its soft, retiring ways. Paul Laurence Dunbar (1872 - 1906)

They usually have panicle-shaped inflorescences made up of many small flowers that come in a variety of colors, including blue, purple, pink and white. These flowers bloom in the summer and add bright color to the garden. Colorful lily of the valley is relatively easy to care for and is suitable for planting in full sun and well-drained garden soil. They require regular watering but do not tolerate flooding, so it is important to ensure the soil drains well. Colorful lilies of the valley are suitable for garden borders, patio decorations, pots or flower beds. They can be grown as stand-alone plants or combined with other plants to create beautiful landscapes. Here are some of its distinctive characteristics and tips for planting: 1.Habit: Lily of the Valley is a low-growing plant with lush, dark green, lance-shaped leaves. Its delicate, bell-shaped white flowers hang gracefully from arching stems, exuding a sweet and enchanting fragrance. 2.Light and Soil: Lily of the Valley thrives in partial to full shade and prefers moist, well-draining soil enriched with organic matter. 3.Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but avoid waterlogging. Regular watering is essential, especially during dry periods. 4.Planting: To plant Lily of the Valley, select a shady spot in your garden or under deciduous trees. Loosen the soil and remove any weeds. Plant the rhizomes, or underground stems, at a depth of about 2-3 inches and space them about 6 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. 5.Propagation: Lily of the Valley spreads through rhizomes, creating lovely colonies over time. Once established, it requires minimal care. 6.Landscaping: Lily of the Valley makes an excellent addition to shade gardens, woodland areas, and as a charming ground cover under trees. Snapdragons thrive in cooler weather, Grop One can be trickier to start from seed than other snapdragon groups. Place seeds in the fridge for a few weeks and sow them in September or October indoors.

One of the best surprises for me about blogging is the friendships you gain while creating a post. Bloggers have the greatest opportunity to meet very gracious and talented people; Leslie Sinclair, owner of Segreto Finishes, is one of those people. Segreto Finishes is a Houston-based company that specializes in custom paint finishes for walls, ceilings, cabinetry, floors, and furniture. Her work has been featured in numerous publications, including designer Betty Lou Philips' new book The French Way with Design. Leslie has also published her own design books: Segreto, Secrets to Finishing Beautiful Interiors, Segreto Style and her third soon-to-be-released book Segreto Vignettes in September. I am thrilled to say she was willing to share with us her answer to the question, "What does living beautifully mean to you?"
