I’m pretty sure nothing gets wasted in my craft room. Even the teeniest bits of off-cuts from scrapbook paper go into a snap lock bag for making handmade cards. Fabric scraps have their own storage bag for future projects too. And then there is my collection of hand ripped fabric ribbon… This is perhaps one of the quickest projects you’ll ever whip up. Can you say - snip, rip and store. That’s it! About 10 seconds in total. Beautiful, shabby, hand ripped pieces of ribbon to use on gift wrapping, packaging, floral bouquets and many mores fabulous

Have you discovered the slow sewing movement? It’s all about grabbing your needle and thread, your basket of bits and bobs and slowing down to enjoy the simple process of sewing by hand. For me, it has another element…. savouring the journey of adding bits of fabric and pretty notions without planning, without perfection… simply meandering along… taking slow breaths and quieting the mind. I’ve made it almost a meditative practice and one that I thoroughly enjoy. This past weekend I abandoned my planned projects to take in some ‘ME’ time and a slow sewing project was the
Do you choose to live life creatively? I certainly do and I try to find ways to infuse a little bit of creativity into almost everything I do…. even in the simplest of tasks, from decorating cookies to adding throw cushions to a sofa…. and what about a little extra pizzazz when wrapping gifts! I’ve shared a tutorial for making my 3 drawer gift box on my blog previously, but today I’m sharing another version of it because one of the common questions I receive from the Handmade Club members is “what can I make with the kit?” This month
On blogging....I have received a few emails lately asking me about my blogging experience, how to begin, where to start, how to grow....I'll do my very best to answer those questions here...but, please remember, I am learning myself. I love...
"Love of beauty is taste. The creation of beauty is art." ~Ralph Waldo Emerson Thankyou everyone for your congratulations - I have passed them along to my sister and I hope that I will have pretty photos to share with you in the coming months! We are all very excited! For now - what is more romantic than lace!!? I was looking through my box of lace recently (I keep them in a box because I have ran out of places to put everything!) and I thought that my collection had grown so much in the last year that I should take some pictures! I love lace - I have definitely said it before. I have been given many beautiful pieces over the years - heirlooms from my Mum and special pieces that the lovely people I work for at Heirlooms have found for me. I have often fantasized about visiting lace shops in Europe - opening the doors and being surrounded by gorgeous pieces of lace. That would be a dream come true!! Here are some photos I have taken of a few of my favorite pieces displayed around my house. I hope you like them! I have also just finished a new drawing called 'Sparkling Pink'. I am joining these blog parties today: French Inspiration Thursday What's It Wednesday Home and Garden Thursday Drawing by Jennelise
Our plump little pillows have a pleated chiffon sash across the center to give the look of classic heart-shaped boxes of chocolates, but with zero calories! Hidden layers of batting and muslin keep our hearts smooth and round.

"I shall smile when wreaths of snow blossom where the rose should grow..." ~Emily Bronte Yesterday was only the second day of the month and yet somehow Mother Nature knew it was time for winter to arrive. We were so lucky to have a relatively warm Halloween! When I woke up yesterday morning there were heavy blankets of snow and the air was too crisp to walk in without full winter garb. I have been busy preparing and listing Christmas decorations in the shop! It is getting to be that time. For me Christmas begins in November with the preparations and planning, beautiful shop window displays, accumulating treasures for my shop, and thinking about what each special person in my life should be given this year (yes I start this early!). Since the start of Fall I have been working on Christmas projects. It seemed that every time I brought some new idea to life I had to make some for the store and some for friends and family who wanted them! I have made SO MANY WREATHS! :) I thought I would share a few pictures of the wreaths that are up in the shop right now. I made a large wreath for the first time. It was much harder than I thought it would be but I was very happy with how it turned out. At the opposite end of the spectrum I have also been making miniature wreaths. They are very sweet and have been the most requested. You can hang them on your tree, on door knobs, with stockings and garlands, or sit them with your Christmas displays! I think they are my favourite. :) I hope everyone is enjoying the first week of November! I am sharing with: Make It Pretty Monday What's It Wednesday
I wake up and it is a literal blizzard outside....than afternoon rolls around and the sky is clear and blue. Sometimes you just gotta laugh. I suppose it will decide to be Spring sometime. Maybe May...which is Sunday. Haaahaaa! A few cards today...mostly pinks..and a bit of aqua. I found some more lovely crochet pieces...and just adore using them in my art. Love the softness they add to a card. One worked perfectly with my crochet cherries....yes another cherry. The sweet bird image is from Crafty Secrets. Their images are the best. Other than that another shabby rose card and Melissa frances 5th Avenue card...which I am almost all out of. Should have gotten two of everything. So that is it for me. Hope you enjoy my shares. If you ever have any questions don't hestitate to ask...some of you I don't know how to get back too. Have a wonderful weekend! hugs, cherry

Love love LOVE these Scrapiniec chipboards, and I think the chandelier is my favourite (okay, my current favourite lol). I made the large two flowers (link to flower die at the end of the post), coloured up white card with Victorian Velvet after die cutting and before wetting and scrunching and leaving to dry. I’ve used quite a few favourites on this card, the Rose Garden paper pad and the divine lace are just two of them. I popped some green twine loops inbetween the flowers and finished off the inside to match the front.
You know all those tiny scraps and off-cuts of pretty papers you have left over from craft projects… Don’t throw them out!! I have storage bags specifically for scraps… both paper and fabric. It’s amazing what you can make using pretty leftovers. When I store the scraps I don’t always have a project in mind, but I do love being able to rummage through my scraps bag when I need a teeny tiny piece of scrap paper or fabric. This lovely banner garland was made entirely with off cuts and small left overs from my scrap bags.
For a long time now I’ve stored all my laces, ribbons and haberdashery trims on specially made boards, so they could be easily accessed, kept untangled and look shabbiliciously beautiful. I released 3 designs for my own lace and ribbon boards back in 2011 and it was definitely one of my most popular E-pattern designs. Today I’m sharing a new vintage design and lace board template with you, so you can make some for your own creative space. They are very easy to make. My boards are constructed using 3 mm MDF, which provides a light but stable

"Her watch was so delicate that the perfume of the roses in the warm garden breeze could stop its hands time would go still and freeze." ~a. niffenegger There has been so much activity in my life lately and all in such a short space of time! So many changes in just a few months. Sometimes change can leave me feeling a little bit lost and unsure of what to do with myself. I'm having to remember, or re-learn, how to be still and relax instead of pushing to do more and more and more. It helps that it feels like summer now. Everything is green and warm. My house has been full of leftover wedding flowers for the last week or so and their beautiful fragrance has made it feel like a garden. Now that the frantic pace has slowed down I am trying to find ways to relax and calm down after all of the excitement. Inevitably I am turning to the same things that always make me feel like myself again. Pretty things (smile). I sat in the garden one afternoon and drew a new picture, I am reading a favourite book, and I have made a point of getting up in the morning before work and taking some pictures while the light is so nice. I've missed having time to do that! I gathered all of my beautiful lace pieces - antique lingerie and handkerchief bags, pillows, doilies - and set them together. I love lace so much! I've started to study the history behind my favourite kinds of lace because I find it so fascinating! These pictures are just a glimpse into my small collection of lace treasures. I hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of summer as much as I am! So Monday has about come and gone and I popped in for a spell to share a project I made using many unique little trinkets...bits and bobs that come from Pro 31 Designs. I wanted to create something over the top girly....very pink. Uber feminine..... and it did my heart good! I had so much fun with this stinker! I used pearl trims, bead sprays, crystal style pendants...both large and small, paper mulberry roses, ruffle laced trims.....all from Pro 31 Designs. They have so many unique things to make your projects special! I had fun using the fans.....goes right along with Ms. Marie Antoinette...dotcha think? Love the images I found on etsy of her. I added some lovely crystal style cabochons....cameos....vintage trims..and of course some pom pom fringe. Been diggin it lately. fanciful and a bit flirty. I even had to spray paint my metal fleur de lis....LOVE It in pink. Ballet slipper pink to be exact. I topped my project off with lovely seambindings from Really Reasonable Ribbons. Hope you enjoy...happy evening to you! hugs, cherry
For the past ten plus years, my life story has been interwoven with the most over the top characters imaginable. People with such, anything but normal type of behavior, that has led me to believe ~ You can't make this stuff up! During this time while surrounded by this craziness, I have often wondered .... Why have I been cast a role in this drama? Am I just a casual observer standing in the wings, or am I an integral character? I believe that Oprah once said something like .... God drops pebbles on your head before He drops the brick If I have misquoted Oprah, I apologize, but I have come to realize that there are reasons why a message is delivered, and delivered again and again until one stops ignoring the message and takes steps to unravel it's meaning. So now I am digging in my heels and doing the hard work of putting all these messages into focus and bringing them to life. I am polishing up my story telling skills to weave some tall and not so tall tales. Tales that will put into meaning the saying .... Three gallons of crazy in a two gallon bucket. I have come to realize that is why God sent me back to Texas. Down here in South Texas among the big old Live Oaks, is just the perfect spot for weaving story lines and telling tales.
