ABC's in Acts: T is for Tent Paul Made Tents with Aquila and Priscilla These lessons can be used without the alphabet theme. Consider these an update with new ideas and printables! This file folder game has a tent for Paul and one for Aquila & Priscilla. The question cards will be laid on the correct tent. If you prefer, these can be inserted into a 10x13 envelope with the cover glued to the front instead of using a file folder. Each card has a number with the verse to help you find the answer easy. Click here to download the file folder game. To remind students to teach others about Jesus, students can color or paint the designs on the banner, door hanger and bookmark. Stickers can be added. String or ribbon can be added to the banner to hang and on the bookmark. These are plain black & white intentionally to inspire students to decorate them in their own style and want to actually use them. They are designed so they can be used with any lesson you choose and are not limited to this lesson. These work best if printed on cardstock or heavier paper. Click here to see more of these with different designs. There is a tent color-by-number, maze and Word Search included. The first is a Reader Worksheet. The wording from the scripture is as easy to read as possible with sight words while keeping to the key points with 5 easy to answer questions. The second is a fill-in-the-blank worksheet. Color and black & white are included for both. I designed the Trip Strip to be a cut & glue timeline. This one shown has lines for the students to write about each event. Or, they can write the scriptures. There is another worksheet without the writing space. These can easily be used for mixed age groups. Cut and glue according to directions. This is not included in the application pack. Click here to download. These Event Cards can be used as smaller visuals and they can be shuffled for the student to re-tell the events and lay them in order. The same full-page size visuals and pictures-to-color can be downloaded below. There are alphabet mazes and worksheets included. These are half-sheets and can be used in Interactive Notebooks. ABC's in Acts: T is for Truth Ananias and Sapphira Didn't Tell the Truth These lessons can be used without the alphabet theme. Consider these an update with new ideas and printables! There is a word search, a fill-in-the-blank worksheet about Ananias and Sapphira and one with scriptures about lying. I kept the Flip Book basic with a short sentence to be a conversation starter. The teacher can ask what happens when you do something you are told not to. Or, what happens when you don't do a chore you are told to do. These are basic graphics to lead to other topics that apply to your students. This is black and white only. The Flip Book is easy to assemble by cutting on the solid lines, layer and staple at the top as shown. This can be a discussion about lying and obeying. To help remember to tell the truth, students can color or paint the designs on the banner, door hanger and bookmark. The door hanger has a choice with or without the black & white emoji. The bookmark includes the black and white emoji or blank spaces to add stickers or students can draw an emoji. The banner is plain so students can add their own style of decorating and stickers. Stickers can be added. String or ribbon can be added to the banner to hang and on the bookmark. If you have assorted emoji's, you can ask questions about how God would want you to … and they can add the correct emoji (or draw it). A money bag maze and these color-by-number worksheets are included. I designed the Trip Strip to be a cut & glue timeline. This one shown has lines for the students to write about each event. Free pdf worksheet for kids ministry on the story of Priscilla & Aquila as found in acts 18. Part of a whole lesson available onsite.
This is a wood house my husband put together for me to use for certain Bible lessons. I can take it apart and it will basically lay flat. I pretty much told my husband I wanted something like my Lion's Den for Daniel. So, we used the same base to begin with. Great! Less to store! The base is 24"x24". I realize a lot of you can't make this to use in class, but maybe someone at your congregation can make it for you. This is what the inside looks like. As you can see from the photo, the back and sides slide in strips air nailed along the bottom of the floor piece. The top of the sides and back have a piece air nailed close to the edge for the roof to lay on. I have the roof cut into 2 pieces so I can just use half of the roof at a time if I want to. For this lesson, Jesus heals the man after he is let down through the roof. I left the back of the roof on so the man is lifted down into the center of the room. I just used yarn attached to craft stick for this photo. But, you could glue a piece of fabric to craft sticks to make the bed. I have this Jesus I use (One2Believe Messengers of Faith) or, you can use a Ken doll and dress him like a Bible man. And, I used some smaller Bible men for his friends on the roof. I also used the raffia that is used for hula skirts from Dollar Tree to cover the roof. I also have this ladder on the outside of the house to look more authentic and show a way for them to be on the roof. But, you could add outside stairs. This scene is for when Paul and Timothy or whoever are together in a house. With different people, it can be Paul & Silas at the jailor's home. Or, Jesus at Mary & Martha's. I found the generic Barbie furniture on EBay a long time ago. I didn't need it to be sturdy since it is just for looks and the kids won't play with this. I do let them move the lions around in the Daniel display. This is a close-up of the scene. I have a small feather in Paul's hand because he is 'writing' a letter. There are small pieces of paper to look like his paper. I also added odds and ends, like the plants from my grandkids house toys. And some doll house rugs I found on EBay. This scene is for when Paul rents his house while he is in Rome. You can add more people because they were allowed to visit Paul. I just have the printed Roman soldiers with him. He has his writing feather and papers here also. I left the inside the plain wood, used a textured spray paint to lightly spray the outside walls. I wanted the outside to look different than the inside. I also used this for Peter's Vision in Acts 10. I set the inside of the house up simple, and used the half roof. I have a couple of accessories and something for him to sit on. On the right, is the sheet that is coming down from heaven with the assorted animals that Peter is looking at. You can see how to set up the sheet here.
This week we studied Paul and Silas. This is a really fun lesson! We also learn about Paul being a Roman citizen and how important that was in Paul's time. Last week we talked about Paul going to Philippi in Macedonia and he was talking to Lydia. She made purple cloth and sold it. It was very hard to make, and it was worth a lot of money. Her whole household believed in Jesus and were baptized. Silas, Timothy and Luke were also with Paul. Lydia begged them to stay at her house after she was baptized. Today our lesson is found in Acts 16:16-40. Paul and Silas, Timothy & Luke (Luke states "US") were walking through the streets of Philippi in Macedonia on their way to pray. They saw a servant girl acting strange. The men that owned her made a lot of money from her because she did fortunetelling. The girl followed Paul shouting out that “These men are servants of the Most High God and they can tell us the way of salvation!” She did this for days and one day Paul was very irritated. Paul turned around and told the spirit that was in her to come out. The evil spirit in her went out, but her owners didn’t like it because now she wouldn’t be making all that money for them. They dragged Paul and Silas into the marketplace to the authorities. They told the judges that Paul and Silas had brought a lot of trouble to the city. They claimed that Paul and Silas were teaching customs that were against their laws. The crowd of people were angry and the judges tore off Silas and Paul's coats and commanded that they be beaten. After the people beat Paul and Silas, they were thrown in prison. The jailer was told to keep them securely locked. He was to make sure they couldn't escape, so the jailer put them in an inner prison and put their feet in stocks. But at midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing to God. The other prisoners were listening to them. Can you imagine being beaten, thrown in prison and then singing? Suddenly, there was a great earthquake! The foundation of the prison shook and all the doors opened and the chains were free from everyone. The prison guard woke up and saw that the doors of the prison were opened up and he drew his sword and was going to kill himself. (Acts 16:26) But Paul shouted, "Don't do that!" because everything was Ok, everyone was still there. The guard called for a light and ran to Paul and Silas and asked: “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They told him that first, he had to believe in Jesus. Paul and Silas told the guard and his household about Jesus and within an hour that night, the household washed the stripes from the beating off of Paul and Silas and immediately the guard and ALL his family were baptized. They went back to the guard’s house and ate while the guard rejoiced because his whole family believed in God. Click here to download the Roman Citizen posters. The next day the judges came to the jailers house to tell Paul and Silas they were free to leave, but Paul said "We are Romans, and we were beaten in public and thrown in prison, and now the judges want us to leave secretly? Absolutely Not!" (Because it looked like Paul and Silas had done something wrong.) Paul said to let them come and apologize in person. When the officers heard that they were Romans, they were scared. They went to Paul and Silas and pleaded with them and asked them to leave the city. Paul and Silas left the prison and went back to Lydia’s house. They stayed there for many days, worshipping with the other Christians. Paul and Silas left Philippi, but Luke stayed longer. The wording in Acts changed from Luke saying 'we' to 'them'. We are not sure where Timothy went, but he is not mentioned being with Paul & Silas in the next chapter. Updated file! I added this Foldable later. I really wanted some type of Q&A worksheet, but fun, interesting, since I have mostly boys. So, this includes the color and black & white. You can also just use the inside if you prefer. The answers are on the last page. Click here to download an updated file. I created these chains for Paul and Silas because the kids loved the Samson ones so much! It is such a basic project... and they really loved it! They are black and white only so you can print on any color paper. You can use for review or have the students put them together as you discuss the lesson. I added numbers to this set, because it is easier since they really wanted to make the chain in order. There is a space on the right side to tuck under and staple the rings together. Click here to print the chains. The students are adding something each week to their IFA bags. You can see them here. This week we added handcuffs for Paul & Silas being in prison purchased here. Click here to print the worksheet. You can find all the Acts worksheets here. This is a great lesson for kids! The obvious application is do not lie! I have updated the lesson, application printable, added visuals and pictures to color. This also includes an introduction to the book of Acts that can be used for any lesson in Acts or review. We are going to be studying the book of Acts. That is in the New Testament: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and then Acts. Luke was a doctor and he is the one who wrote this book. And the book of Luke. Click here to download. Open your Bibles to Acts 1:1. Look at the title. It says The ACTS of the Apostles. What does this mean? What does it mean when you act on something? That means that you do something. So, Acts tells us about what the Apostles did after Jesus returned to heaven. The first chapter tells us about Jesus going back to heaven. Click here to download. The title states it is the ACTS of the Apostles. Jesus picked 12 men to follow Him. What were they called? Disciples means followers of Jesus. After Jesus went back to heaven, those 11 disciples (not Judas, but Matthias was selected to be a disciple) were called Apostles because Jesus sent them out. We will look at some of the early Christians and what they had to suffer for Jesus. These will lead to our lessons about Paul. Acts has 30 years of information for us to study. The Christians had been teaching as many people as they could, and there were a lot of baptisms. They were doing miracles and healing people. The people that had land or houses, sold them and brought the money from the sale to the Apostles and they gave to the poor and needy. (Acts 4:34-37) Our Bible scripture for today's lesson is Acts 5:1-11. Today we are learning about a married couple named Ananias and Sapphira. Ananias and Sapphira had some land they could sell. (Acts 5:3) They saw that the Christians were giving money to Peter and he was a follower of Jesus. Ananias and Sapphira thought they could impress Peter by giving money too. They sold some land and they both decided to keep SOME of the money for themselves and give the rest to Peter to help the poor. Ananias took the other part and took it to the disciples and laid it at their feet. “Look!” said Ananias, “I sold some of my land and here is all the money I made!” Peter said to Ananias: Why have you kept part of the money from the sale? It was your money, under your own control, so why have you come up with this lie in your heart? You haven’t lied to men, but to God! How does God feel about lying? Ananias instantly fell down dead when he heard the words Peter spoke! Some men came and carried the body of Ananias out of the temple. They were amazed, and a little scared by what had happened. About 3 hours later (Acts 5:7), Sapphira, went to see Peter. She hadn’t heard what happened to her husband yet. Peter asked her, "Did you sell the land for the amount that Ananias donated?" She answered: “Yes, that is how much we sold the land for.” Peter asked her why they agreed together to test God? Peter told her to look at the feet of the men that buried her husband because they would carry her out too! IMMEDIATELY, Sapphira died and the men came to carry her out and they buried her by her husband. People heard about Ananias & Sapphira from far, far away! They heard about how they had lied to Peter, and most importantly they lied to God. And, they both died instantly because of their lies! People were afraid when they heard these things. (Acts 5: 11) And many Christians learned that day that God sees and hears everything that we do. The land deed that we signed and tied with a ribbon is written with the Old English Text font. To save ink, I print the plain deed onto granite paper. Click the picture to print. Click here to print in Color Click here to print in B/W. I typically like the project for the lesson to be a review or a main point to talk about and apply to the students. They have something to take home and maybe the parents will question them and help them remember the lesson better. This printable can be printed in color or black & white. I printed the black & white onto construction paper. It has more texture than cardstock or paper. I cut the paper to 8.5x11 to print. I put the bags in order, then I tied a ribbon around them to hold them together. Cute bow and all! Click here to download both. (BTW, the kids really loved these!) The kids do love the bags, but this is a worksheet with the same questions for easy printing and no assembly needed. This includes the color and black & white worksheet and a scripture poster about telling lies. Click here to download (without logos). Click here to download the worksheet. Extra project: Give each student a 3x5 white index card. We are transparent to God. Have them draw a heart and write their names on the card with white crayon. Discuss how we can’t see what is on the card. But God can. Take a marker and color over the cards. Explain that God can see what we cannot. We can’t see each other’s hearts, but God can. I had the students make a heart with sin, lies, and/or love on each. Original idea found here. Bible Verse: Acts 5:4 Scripture taken from the New King James Version®.
