I Bruxelles og Firenze var folk begyndt at udtrykke bekymring over det stigende antal fund af døde nyklækkede fugleunger (mejser) i deres reder. I decided to finally write a post that I have been wanting to write about the toxic things in our homes. Two women who I met at different occasions and started talking to influenced this post and me! It's a good day when the first thing you see when you first wake up is a bluebird sitting on the edge of a birdbath. His mate was entering my birdbox and they both have been busy since then setting up housekeeping. I couldn't be more thrilled. There are birds of all kinds scurrying around the lawn looking for worms, mostly robins. I have seen bluejays, cardinals, house wrens, mourning doves and chickadees too. The photo above is from Instagram and I've been saving it on my phone because I love it. See my previous posts about bluebirds here. My oven is preheating, the oatmeal is soaking, and I'm almost ready to stir up another batch of Oatmeal muffins that are getting rave reviews. I added 1/2 cup raisins this time. This recipe really is forgiving. Somehow I turned off the oven when turning off the timer for the 15 minute soak. When I was ready to put my heavy vintage blue enameled cast iron muffin pan in the oven, the temperature registered 176° but I put them in anyway and turned the oven on and set it to 425° and set the timer to 25 minutes. They turned out fine and I took them out before the timer went off. I left them in the muffin pan for 10 minutes just in case. They are so good with the raisins! This made me laugh. As a popular saying goes, “It takes a whole village to raise a child.” And really, taking care of a child and knowing that this is totally dependent on you sounds quite overwhelming. That’s why recommendations, books, and experts on the subject are never lacking, and as we can see, they have evolved from a couple of decades ago to the present day. Stay tuned for the parenting advice from 1928 at the end of the article.

About The Nesting The woods are creeping in on a nanny and two young girls in this chilling modern Gothic thriller. Architect Tom Faraday is determined to finish the high-concept, environmentally friendly home he’s building in Norway—in the same place where he lost his wife, Aurelia, to suicide. It was their dream house, and he wants to honor her with it. Lexi Ellis takes a job as his nanny and immediately falls in love with his two young daughters, especially Gaia. But something feels off in the isolated house nestled in the forest along the fjord. Lexi sees mysterious muddy footprints inside the home. Aurelia’s diary appears in Lexi’s room one day. And Gaia keeps telling her about seeing the terrifying Sad Lady. . . . Soon Lexi suspects that Aurelia didn’t kill herself and that they are all in danger from something far more sinister lurking around them.
