This thrust change allows the aircraft to take off vertically and hover on the spot. It can turn on the spot while remaining aloft. It can also move backwards while remaining aloft. By changing the forward thrust at takeoff, the PAR-WIG effect allows the aircraft to transition to a more efficient WIG flight mode.
