The famous house "Serendipity" from the movie Nights in Rodanthe in...well, Rodanthe. It's condemned and in danger of falling into the Atlantic at the next storm. I had to get some shots, and it was a perfect time to play with my new Panasonic DMC-ZS3 point-and-shoot. Sunset, gorgeous house, great setting! EXPLORE #4! 26 December 2009!

In late 2012, the North Korean regime made a rather bizarre announcement, even by the standards of the North Korean regime. According to The Guardian, the country’s archaeologists had discovered “the lair of one of the unicorns ridden by the ancient Korean King Tongmyong,” just 600 feet from a temple in the capital city. The very first Scheepjes CAL will have been 10 years ago, in 2024. Scheepjes is celebrating this with no less than four new projects. For the first time ever in a Scheepjes project, you can decide whether you want to crochet or knit all these projects! So you can go for a Crochet-A-Long (CAL) or Knit-A-Long (KAL). The first project is part of the Dawn Chorus series, a tribute to songbirds. The Goldcrest Scarf, inspired by the beautiful colours of the goldcrest, was designed by Martin Up North and is suitable for advanced crocheters and knitters. The pattern uses a number of techniques, such as mosaic crochet and knitting, which are alternated throughout the scarf, to keep the pattern interesting. You will make the scarf with Scheepjes Metropolis, a wonderfully soft, yet strong yarn of 75% Merino Wool and 25% Nylon. In addition to the yarn, the kit also contains some nice extras. Crocheters will create a long rectangular scarf measuring 26 x 180cm (10¼ x 70¾”) using 3.5mm and 4mm hooks* which are not included in the kit and will be required. Knitters will create a long rectangular scarf measuring 25 x 170cm (9¾ x 67”). A set of five 3mm* dpns, 2 x 3mm* circular needles 80cm long (or 1 x 3mm* needle plus a stitch holder), a 3mm* crochet hook (for pinhole cast on) and 4 stitchmarkers are not included in the kit and will be required.*or size(s) needed to achieve gauge The Scheepjes CKAL Goldcrest Scarf kit contains the following items: 7 x Scheepjes Metropolis of 50 gram holding 200 metres of yarn per ball 1 x notepad 1 x roll of washi tape 1 x set of 3 postcards The crochet and knitting pattern is available for free via the Scheepjes website in Dutch, English (UK & US) and German and via the official Scheepjes Facebook groups. Of course, you will also need knitting needles or crochet hooks as well as other accessories for both versions of this project. These are not included in the kit. For the crocheted version you will need: 1 x crochet hook in size 3.50mm 1 x crochet hook in size 4.00mm And for the knitted version, you will need: 1 x set of 5 double-pointed knitting needles in size 3.00mm 2 x 80cmlong circular knitting needles in size 3.00mm OR 1 x 80cm-long circular knitting needle in size 3.00mm and 1 x stitch holder 1 x crochet hook in size 3.00mm 4 x stitch markers Once finished, the crocheted scarf will measure 26 x 180cm, while the knitted version will measure 25 x 170cm. Each kit is packed in a sturdy black cardboard box with Scheepjes logo, and measures 31.5 x 23.5 x 8cm. About the Designer Born and raised in Vienna, Austria, Martin began his crafting journey after moving ‘up north’ to Sweden in 2010. He crochets and knits to keep his hands busy between stints outdoors capturing the beauty of local nature with his camera. Designing gives him a sense of balance. The contrast between the freedom of wilderness and the wish to control tools and stitches gives him inner peace. He often incorporates geometry, texture and a range of techniques into his designs. Martin is a member of Scheepjes Designer Collective and has previously designed the successful Get Connected and Landscapes Scheepjes Make-A-Longs.
This is one of my ways of making risottos. This one has more Dalmatian approach with herbs and olive oil and tomatoes. North Croatian way would be with Hungarian paprika and other herbs and spices. You cal also use beef, horse or pork meat.
