Twenty locos for Hunter Valley coal services were delivered by A Goninan & Co from 1972. Allotted to Bathurst, working Lithgow to Euabalong West, Bourke, Cootamundra and branches, in January 1981 they were moved to Broadmeadow for coal trains from Belmont, Dudley, Lambton and Pelton, plus runs to Werris Creek, Tamworth and Moree. A 1982/83 traffic downturn due to drought saw them stored at Parkes until 1984. All were withdrawn 1990. Seven were sold to Lachlan Valley Railway* for their services.
NSW Railways Diesel Locomotives Nos. 4469 + 4424 working No. 2 Southern Aurora downhill towards Picton. The scene is looking south from near the Connellan Crescent overbridge at Redbank/Upper Picton with the road to Thirlmere in the background (29.03.1980).
Built between 2006 and 2007, seven sets were delivered to end use of 620/720 class railcars dating back to 1961. The design is derived from the new generation Transwa Prospector, except that the lower top speed requirement for the Hunter railway means that driving cars are single-engined instead of dual-engined. They can operate in MU with Endeavour rail cars.
