I'm an American living in Regensburg, Bavaria. Born in Munich I spent my first 10 years in Kirkwood, Mo. 1971 we moved to where I am now. Finished German school in 1981, then spent 29 semesters studying German literature, philosophy and political science. 1982 I joined the management of the local film club's cinema Filmgalerie, and from 1991-2001 I ran my own arthouse cinema STALI (Stadtamhofer Lichtspiele). In between I also co-owned a cinema bookstore for a few years. In the 80s I co-founded the local industrial band and performance art group Lyssa humana that officially still exists, but currently doesn't perform. I was also member of the shortlived noise rock band Hammersmith. Since 2001 I work for the customer service of a large American online store. Up for sale is a If; Worlds of Science Fiction (magazine) Volume 12 Number 2 from May 1962. I am not a collector or dealer of vintage magazines so I don't know how to properly grade them. However, this classic Sci Fi monthly, containing 130 pages, is in very good condition with no torn or missing pages and no stains or writing. I strongly suggest that you examine the photos in this listing, carefully, to help determine the condition of this magazine. I recently attended an estate sale where the belongings of a gentleman named Art were for sale. Art owned his own book shop in San Bernardino, California from the late 1940's until the early 1980's. Art's shop also sold magazines and apparently Art was fond of science fiction, fantasy, and horror pulp style monthlies. There were literally thousands of these magazines at his estate sale and I bought boxes of the ones that looked to be in the best condition. Earlier this year I listed the first 150 of these magazines to my Etsy shop to see what the response would be. Now I've undertaken the massive task of cataloging, photographing, and listing (for sale) the remaining 800 or so magazines. So, if you dig these old sci fi magazines, please continue to check out my other listings, now, and over the next 6 months. If you buy more than one of the Sci Fi magazines, in the same transaction, I will ship the additional copies for free.
Retrofuturism is a sci-fi aesthetic that combines elements of nostalgia for the past with imagined futures. It is often associated with the visual and design styles of the 1930s to 1960s, which were characterized by sleek and futuristic designs. This aesthetic often incorporates elements of old-fashioned technology and design, such as art deco and mid-century modern, with futuristic concepts and ideas. In retrofuturism, there is often a fascination with what the future was supposed to look like, as envisioned by people in the past. Retrofuturist designs and concepts can be seen in a wide range of media, including film, literature, and video games. It is often used to explore themes of technological progress and the relationship between humans and technology. It can be a way of looking back at the past through the lens of the future, and exploring the possibilities of what might have been. Moonbase Retro digital art.

Dragon Magazine 196 cover by Scott Burdick
This side of George Lucas’s original STAR WARS trilogy or perhaps BLADE RUNNER, one would find few sci-fi cinema adventures so beloved among futurists as THE FIFTH ELEMENT. Really, why not? As artist Alejandra Burdisio might attest with his four-year-old “Scrap Metal Universe” series might attest judging from his mind-bending aesthetic, it’s a far-flung setting […]
