Being denied a Bulgarian visa, photographer Jack Birns took a detour to the Bulgarian-Greek-Turkish border triangle. In the area around the Maritsa river the Simplon Orient Express entered both Greece and Turkey twice. At the Edirne railway station Birns witnessed that not only borders were shifted but also people.
