Here's a card I came across that we did back in April but I just love it so I thought I would still share it with you. The sentiment and border image are retired but you can certainly find something that would work! This is a center step card with the butterflies in the center floating above the sentiment. This was done by using small strips of window sheets and securing them to the back of the "step" where the sentiment goes. Here is the inside of the card which gives you plenty of room to sign and write a birthday wish. Here is a picture of the measurements for cutting and scoring for this card. I designed this for my make and take this month and many people wow'd but once they made it they realized how simple it was to make and it made for a great make and take. Unfortunately I did not have the new paper piercing tool with its more ergonomic handle so I got a little more carpal tunnels symtoms today but really was easy to do. Take a Pool Party CS and emboss the edge using the Delicate Designs Folder- is this thing gorgeous or not? I so love our embossing folders! Then I diecut a whisper white CS using Apothecary Accents Framelit, used the new Essentials paper-piercing pack, lined up the die and poked the holes around. Stamped the butterflies using Early Expresso onto scraps of Pool party, Calypso coral and Lucky Limeade CS and punched them out using the butterfly punch. Lined them up to where I thought the sentimen would best fit and stamped the sentiment using same Expresso inkpad with sentiment from Just Believe set, then added the butterflies using dimensionals cut in half on just the center of the butterfly bodies so the wings are free to flap and really truly easy peasy card. Hey, any card that requires no scissor work in my book is two thumbs up!

Hello Peeps !!! Happy Friday !!! TGIF... I have so much things to do today but just not enough time. Two of my boys celebrated their birthdays this month. They are so grown, it's hard to believe. Anyway, I am busy packing for a trip that I have been planning for. I still need to do quite a bit, but I am taking a break to post this card that I made using the butterfly punches. It makes decorating a lot easier with these punches. Hope you like it. RECIPE: Stamps: Papillon Potpourri, Oh Hello Paper: Tangerine Tango, Island Indigo, Baja Breeze, Whisper White Ink: Tangerine Tango, Island Indigo, Baja Breeze Accessoires: Sycamore Street ribbon and button, linen thread Tools: dimensionals, butterfly punches Thanks for stopping by. A big welcome to you today!! Thank you so much for stopping by to see what the Stamp Review Crew have to show you. We are a group of International Stampin' Up! demonstrators showcasing one stamp set at a time, every first and third Monday's of the month. This hop we are using and oldie but certainly a goodie, Papillion Potpourri. This set as been in the Stampin' Up! collection for a little bit now but it is still an extra fabulous set. This is one of the few sets that I have left in the older style clam shell case. My collection of these cases is slowly dwindling away. And before I know it they will all be gone. I this set is just different butterfly images with out any sentiments. Some of the images go with some of the butterfly punches in the catalogue, Elegant Buttefly and Bitty Butterfly. These punches then make it super quick and super easy to roll out a fun and fabulous card. I've only used one of the butterfly images from the set and then teamed it up with one of the words from gthe new Thoughtful Banners set. I started off with a light watercolour wash of Flirty Flamingo on Shimmery White cardstock. Even though the Shimmery White isn't officially a watercolour paper it still does hold a little bit of water making for a beautful water colour wash. I've then stamped the butterfly image also with Flirty Flamingo and then punched it out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch. The punch is slightly smaller than the butterfly image but it still punches out a beautiful butterfly. Its all layered with some punched out Glassine sheets, Metalic foil doilies, Gold Sequin Trim, Melon Mambo Thick Bakers Twine and a Mint Macaron Stamped Banner. The Glassine sheets are quite thin to use a punch with and they slightly tore around the edges. I actaully love that they aren't perfectly cut out and it just gives another element to the circles. I also scruched up the glassine circles to give them some more texture, aslo for another element. Now on to the super fabulous Dawn Tidd. If you are hoping in reverse click on the previous blog button to head on to the wonderful, Wendy Weixler. Remember, if you get lost along the way click on the SRC banner at the top of the page and you will be redirected to the full list of hoppers. Please also leave us some comment love as we all really delight in knowing what you think of our creations. Thanks so much for stopping by. Tweet

At a recent get together of the Stampin' Up group that I belong to, I was asked to demonstrate some backgrounds created by using various techniques. As promised to the Stampin' Up ladies at our get together I will be posting over the next week instructions and photos of the backgrounds that I demonstrated. The first background is the Retiform Technique which I found on Splitcoast Stampers with a great tutorial . This is a great technique using post-it notes and cardstock scraps to create the masks for the sponging and stamping. I started with a piece of Naturals White cardstock and using a scrap of Naturals White to create the mask, I sponged on Baked Brown Sugar ink for my first line. There is no correct pattern to this, just create your gridlines where you want then to go. Below are a pictures of the first steps, sponging on Baked Brown Sugar to create the divisions where you will be stamping. I sponged so that the ink is on the inside of the lines, however you can sponge so that ink is on the outside of the lines. It just depends upon what effect you want to create, experiment to see which method you like best, just be consistent otherwise the technique will not work. The next step is to sponge a light base colour over the entire piece. I have used Crumb Cake, this is done randomly, leaving some light patches (just make sure that you have inked over the entire piece so that no Naturals White is showing through). You are now ready to start stamping. Mask off the centre piece with Post-it Notes to stamp the first image. It does not matter if you off stamp over the edge of the mask, it does look better if some of the images are stamped off centre or partially off the masked piece. Build up each section using a variety of stamps and inks to create the effect that you want. You continue to mask off the various sections and continue stamping until you have built up the piece and all the sections have been stamped. I used Jet Black Staz-on, Baked Brown Sugar and Crumb Cake for the stamping along with stamps from the En Francais, Backyard Basics, Flowering Flourishes, Papillon Potpourri and Everything Eleanor stamp sets, along with the Music Note Stampin' Wheel. (Tip: I take the stamp off the Stampin' Wheel and fix it to a piece of Perspex to create a stamp which I find much easier to use than the Stampin' Wheel). The sentiment is from the Peaceful Petals stamp set. Once the background piece is finished you can now make your card. I have used a Basic Black card base, along with some Victoria Crochet Trim and the Scallop Oval and Large Oval punches for the sentiment. Inside of the card - I try and finish the inside of my cards to match the front. It just gives a nice finishing touch instead of a blank card inside. This is a very basic technique but you can get some terrific effects with it by using different grid patterns and ink colours. The card below is one that I cased from Gina K designs, I just loved the colours (I used Always Artichoke, Crumb Cake and Early Espresso on Naturals White and Early Espresso cardstock.) I used the same gridlines and design for my card above. Share:facebook - twitter - pinterest Creating Backgrounds - Retiform Technique

I think these should be the last of forgotten cards I have to show you. First up is this very dainty card featuring the Six Sided Sampler stamp set from SU. I also used a butterfly image from the Papillon Potpourri set, a flower from the Petite Petals set, and the matching punches. The sentiment is from the retired Vintage Labels set. This next card was quickly thrown together with some left over stamped images. Great for those little last minute gift-giving emergencies. Supplies are as per the first card. All done. :) Catch you all soon. Andrea
