Artist Marco Mazzoni is based in Milan, Italy where he works from his studio creating amazingly detailed color pencil drawings that have captured the attention of collectors from all over the world. I asked Mazzoni to let us peek inside his sketchbook for Hi-Fructose’s ongoing series Inside the Sketchbook. He sent over a beautiful drawings from his Moleskine sketchbooks and speaks generously about his drawing techniques in the following interview. I was so grateful to get these No. 24 P Crayola crayons from a friend. This box is a 24 set from the 1970's. I love all the color names in this box. I also like that it comes in a hard case, and is able to protect the crayons from damage. It is a lot easier to store this way. Crayola packaged their crayons in hard boxes during this time period.

This Rubens box is from 1945. The Rubens 24 color boxes were available as early as 1906. An iteration of this box is no longer available. There are many important items on this box. Ruben for one and the direction he is looking. On different box iterations he was looking different ways. This box features, Binney & Smith Company New York on it. It has the Gold Medal symbol included.
