This book ranks the top 100 silent film stars based on a scale that considers creativity, originality, chemistry with fellow performers, and other factors. The author also promotes some lesser-known performers, singles out each artist’s best works, and identifies key films available on DVD.
Paul Colin depicted the vibrant, style-setting Josephine Baker and her Revue Nègre, as well as some of the performers and prominent characters of 1920's Paris, which was enthralled by this African-American troupe. Revue members included Spencer Williams, pianist and bandleader Claude Hopkins, and clarinetist Sidney Bechet. Other depicted characters from this nocturnal and exotic scene are actors, singers such as Maurice Chevalier, dancers, writers, artists and the tennis player Suzanne Lenglen. 1977 reprint from the 1927 masterpiece. 45 illustrations.
Killing me soflty with his song... me fascina esta canción. Bienvenido Noviembre!

Chinatown-A Rare Original Vintage Australian Movie Poster of Roman Polanski's 1970s LA Noir masterpiece with Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway. A private detective hired to expose an adulterer finds himself caught up in a web of deceit, corruption, and murder. From renowned director Roman Polanski comes the smoldering last word in 1970s LA noir. Written by Robert Towne and starring a feral Jack Nicolson and a Mysterious Faye Dunaway, this masterpiece will always have an audience. Forget about it Jake, it's Chinatown...with John Huston giving a master class in acting. His corrupt and sinister character Noah Cross believes he's respectable: “’Course I’m respectable. I’m old. Politicians, ugly buildings, and whores all get respectable if they last long enough.” There is a word, impossible to spell, that describes the alignment of solar bodies like the planets when they all fall into place, that word describes this film. Everything about it clicks. The thick atmosphere and the performers, down to the background players in non-speaking roles, are superb. The editing, the score, the sound, the decor, and the dialog, verge on flawless. The photography is sharp and lush...building contrasts with the white garden apartments, the terra cotta roof tiles, palm trees, and desert sand. The world is painted in faint gold, ripe with false promise, like the oranges that bounce off Gittes' desperately speeding car in the northwest valley.
