Oct 27, 2014 - Description And those of you who have been with me for some while will remember this image of our mischievous messenger god . . . I feel I have become slightly one-sided, what with all of my computer-assisted colouring, for, truth be told, it has been since last summer since I have taken up traditional media. And while I am quite the PhotoShop addict, I would be loathe indeed to lose the small skill I have gleaned from pen, pencil, and paintbrush . . . Thus, Hermes has seen finalization beneath the points of my long-neglected Hybrid pens and PrismaColors. Regrettably enough, the sheen of the gold ink is lost within the scanning, and yes, I am quite abashedly aware that I have all but slaughtered the staff of the Caduceus . . . but for as long as I have gone without working with such, I am not too terribly displeased with the end result. I assure you, I could have done far worse. * Shard smiles shamefacedly.

In this activity, students predict whether various basketball shots will go through the hoop, and then model these shots with parabolas to check their predictions. Students use draggable points to model in this activity and do not need to be familiar with symbolic forms of quadratic functions in advance. Note: This activity uses the U.S. imperial system of measurements. You may adapt this activity to the metric system by using the “copy and paste” feature and editing the measurements in your own activity. Learn how to copy, paste, and edit activities with this video tutorial: https://youtu.be/fxHCihwDCiI?t=2719
