Despite most people saying that cats own the internet, there are some who dare say the same about dogs. It’s hard to really determine which of the two has more “real estate” on the internet, but one thing is certain: both make people smile.

Fall is one of my favorite times of year for photography, and with Back to School just around the corner, why not embrace the end of summer with our month-long Fall Photography Challenge? The goal of the Fall Photography Challenge is to give you daily motivation to get out, get shooting, and capture some amazing and memorable images! The daily word prompts are arranged by week, and you'll receive a weekly email with tips and ideas for how to tackle that week's challenges. You do not have to capture each style on the day it's "assigned," unless you really want to push yourself. The Fall Photography Challenge will run during both September and October 2019. The prompts and emails will be the same for both months, but this gives you the option to choose the month that works best for you - or go for a double-shot and really push yourself! Be Accountable: get a photo buddy (optional) Back by popular demand, you can choose to join a smaller group of photographers and take on this challenge together. Knowing someone else is waiting to see your images is sometimes the extra push we all need to get up and get shooting! Plus it's a great way to get feedback and inspiration from others. If you choose the "sharing" option, you will receive a group email with the names and emails of other photographers interested in being assigned to a small group for the month. You are committing to communicating at least once a week with your buddies, whether that means sharing an image or two from the week, asking questions, or offering support and ideas. This is a low-pressure way to get some feedback while gaining some cheerleading support along the way! [You will receive your group's details at the beginning of the month. New sharing groups will not be created after a challenge is underway.] Interested? Use the signup form below and choose whether you'd like to join the challenge for September or October (or even both, if that's your fancy). "Not sharing" means you will get the emails but not assigned any buddies, while "sharing" means you agree that I can share your email with a small group of other interested photographers (generally 3-4 folks). Join us for another great month of photography exploration! Subscribe to our mailing list & photo challenge Email Address How would you like to receive updates? Send updates the day they are posted (2-3 per week) Send updates just once a week Fall2019 Sept: not sharing Sept: sharing Oct: not sharing Oct: sharing No thanks. Already a subscriber? You can either enter your info again in the form above or click "update subscription preferences" from the bottom of any BYP email. It's that simple. (P.S. Those of you who are already subscribers will not receive a confirmation email, but don't worry - the first email for the challenge will arrive on the first day of the month you've selected.) Hope you'll join us!
Oh August! Sometimes the hottest month of the year. Don’t let the heat kill your desire to create. Use the photo prompts below to take a photo every single day in August. Happy snapping!
As an act of kindness, use this gratitude photo challenge to motivate yourself to spend time focusing on what you already have, rather than what you want.
It's a new year and what better way to kick it off than with a photo challenge? Lately, I feel like I need improvement with my photography skills and a challenge will definitely help to train my eye. I think it'll be a fun way for you all to see what I can come up with. Are you up for the challenge? Post your photos on my facebook page www.facebook.com/aloyphotography! Here's the list: (taken from the q8iyadownunder blog) Day 1: Name So I walked around my house and I snapped these. It makes for a pretty cool collage. 'A' - Taken from one of my dining room chairs. 'N' - Yes, I've kept my nursing books for reference and they just so happen to be standing in the shelf like this. 'N' - It's a boppy! Got a 'U' in your name? flip it upside down! 'A' - Also in my dining room was our leaning shelf. It's a pretty prominent letter there! Day 2: Outdoors I had soo much fun with Austin in the park. He loves the outdoors and my golly, he's already got the whole baseball thing down from running to bases and sliding! I don't know.. I might have a future baseball player on my hands =) Day 3: Shadow of Anything With a one year old child, it's a little difficult to get out of the house and photograph my surroundings and at the same time keep an eye out for him. I attempted to go outside to get my shadows, but as I made my way to the front door, the shadow of a plant on the window screen caught my eye. It was great since I was able to catch my subject and still make sure my son was safe and not running into the street. Stayed tuned!!! Day 4: Favorite Color Yes, I know I've been slacking lately with this challenge, but I'm back! The day's theme was favorite color. I honestly, don't have a favorite color. I am a fan of all colors. There's not one color in my closet you won't find. My closet was a bit messy, so instead I decided to pull out my nail polish. From the looks of things, pink and purple seemed to be a big hit. I'm more of a purple nail fan than actual wardrobe though. But still, I do have a couple purple tops. I don't know why, but I'm just drawn to this photo too. It's got such a fresh feel to it. With the light from the window coming in, it's days like this I like to relax and give myself a pampering.. pedicure and all. =) Day 5: What I ate. I rarely ever cook, but this day I had a craving for some homemade Sloppy Joes. I totally winged the recipe, and whatdoyaknow?! it turned out great, if not better than "Manwich." I thought to myself, what could possibly be in a sloppy joe? 1st ingredient: ground turkey (I don't EVER do ground beef, turkey is healther, and it tastes the same). 2nd ingredient: Ketchup. Initially I was going to use tomato paste, but I didn't feel like busting out the can opener. Worked just as good. 3rd ingredient: you might think it's a little off the wall, but it's one of my favorites: A-1 sauce. I mixed it all together, added a little bit of red pepper flakes, garlic, and ground pepper and it was done. I stuffed a grilled pepperjack cheese sandwich with my homemade Sloppy Joe and it was just... awesome. (pats herself on the back).
I chose to photograph a yarrow leaf. --------------------------------------------
