I want to live inside his paintings ♥ Lawrence Alma-Tadema (Dutch, 1836-1912)

As soon as the craft room walls were painted, I wanted to hang artwork. While moving craft room junk around to make room for the painting project, I pulled out three of my favorite pieces passed down from my mommy's collection. They're black and white and set a fabulous tone for the rest of the room: Munch always claims that she is the little girl playing the piano and I'm the woman in the white dress, lol. She loves to say the "boys are Daddy and [her] little brother." No, she doesn't have a little brother so don't even go there with me, Islanders. I'm just glad that she loves the paintings like I do. My favorite part of this art series is that this painting: ... hangs in the backdrop of this painting: Cool, right? My mom attended an artwork party where a vendor presented amazing pieces and allowed buyers to customize their canvas style and framing options. She also explained how to care for the pieces so they last a lifetime. I remember attending with my mom and helping her decide on frames and such. It was at the party that I was allowed to choose my first REAL piece of artwork (it's a father-son painting with the two of them napping under a tree). It's beautiful. I love it and, thinking back, my piece was a couple hundred dollars... I've kept it all these years (15+) but I can only imagine how much this set cost my mom (must be why she wasn't willing to part with it for quite some time). Anyhoo, I have loved these paintings for years and, when my mom decided I could finally have them, I wasn't going to refuse... I just needed to find the perfect space for them. They're primarily black-and-white. They have a beautiful linen and gold wooden frame and I am excited for the elegant tone they've already set for this space: They are really fabulous on the wall. The kind of fab that photos don't do justice. Mom advised this room looks like it will be more than the typical craft room; it's becoming a STUDY or elegant office. Sheena says these paintings set the tone and make the wish-list chandelier a MUST-have for the space. It was hilarious when we spoke about it. Sheena and I named the over-the-top light fixture CHANDELIER CHAND-A-LAY. Now, whenever something is fabulous or over-the-top, we call it CHANDELIER CHAND-A-LAY, honey! That chick, I tellya, she is a trip! Speaking of fabulous. It's the end of the work week! I have a wedding this weekend and I'm sure it will be CHANDELIER CHAND-A-LAY!! I hope your weekend is awesome!

The rise of photography in the mid-late 19th-century began the move away from an oral and literary tradition towards one based on image. A photograph can describe a moment in time more viscerally than the written word. Think of that picture of Jack Ruby shooting Lee Harvey Oswald. A million words have been written … Continue reading "The Astonishing Cinematic Autochrome Photography of Heinrich Kühn"

Types: ➤Archival Paper Print (rolled) ➤Canvas Print, Gallery wrapped (mirrored edges) on 2cm depth pine wooden frame (stretched), rolled in a tube, or framed (wood floater frame). Options: ➤Archival Paper Print (rolled) ➤Rolled Canvas Print ➤Stretched and Ready to Hang 1 Panel Canvas Print ➤Stretched and Ready to Hang 3 Panel Canvas Print ➤Canvas in Black, Brown or White Wood Floating Frame (2'' | 5cm thick) ★★★WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A ROLLED CANVAS PRINT AND AN ARCHIVAL PAPER PRINT? ★★★ Whereas our canvas prints come with that typical characteristic texture own to canvas, our archival paper prints come on cotton rag paper without texture. A rolled canvas print is normally stretched on wood stretcher bars, whereas archival paper prints are not. Additionally, a stretched canvas can be framed, but it doesn't need to be. Thus, our rolled canvas prints come in their advertized size + mirrored edges by default for easy stretching. Prefer a cut to size rolled canvas print instead, because you want to frame it in a traditional fine art frame behind glass? Then just type ''cut to size'' in our personalization box (listing top right ''add your personalization''). Note that our rolled canvas prints do not come with stretcher bars or frames. Either take it to your local framer, or stretch/frame it yourself. Other sizes than listed in our drop-down menu available upon request! Have something in mind that you don't see in our shop? Anything at all? We've got your back!
