From drive-in cinemas to butchered pigs, these images were all acclaimed at this year’s LensCulture street photography awards 2020
You might have been in this exact situation: you’re walking down the street and you spot someone who looks just like someone you know. It might be a close friend, a well-known public figure, or even yourself. It can be quite a spooky moment because there’s roughly only a 1 in 135 chance that there’s even a single pair of exact doppelgangers, according to BBC Future. Nonetheless, there are plenty of folks who are ‘close enough’ to the real deal to warrant your attention.
She had to get it on camera not knowing it'd soon go viral.

Whether it's a goose chasing after university students or a parrot gazing into a storm, these well-timed images are so surprising that they raise more questions than they provide answers.

--Introduction-- The teenage years are a time of great change and growth. It's a time when young people begin to develop their own sense of identity and figure out who they are. If you're a parent or guardian, it can be tough to understand what your teenager is going through.

Once in a while, time, light, and space conspire to bridge the gap between the present and the past. In those moments, modern photos snapped with handheld computers come to look like accidental renaissance paintings created by the old masters. Fortunately, there is a subreddit called /r/AccidentalRenaissance where anyone in the world can share their magnificent digital paintings.
I am Murat Akyol, a 19-year-old from Mardin. I love to tell people about my dreams through photos, and I just love art in general. If you'd like to support me, you can follow me on Instagram.
The last time we wrote about the Facebook group 'Things designed by people who don't have to clean them', it had 40,000 members. But since then, this online community has more than doubled and is approaching the 100,000 mark, so it's about time we release an update on them.
'Accidental Renaissance' is a subreddit that acts like a virtual gallery, dedicated to sharing and discussing images that unintentionally resemble works of art from the famous cultural movement known as the Renaissance. It took place in Europe roughly from the 14th to 17th centuries and was a time of great artistic and intellectual growth. During this period, humanity saw the emergence of some of the most famous creators in history, such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael.
If you’re like me, a bit proud and stoic, you may feel that holding on to the grudge is the one piece of control you have in a situation that left you confused, hurt, and angry. I think there is a tipping point where the baggage we carry becomes heavy enough that we’re forced to figure out a way to reconcile where bad blood festers.
Sometimes we just want to get away from it all; make the great escape and reconnect with ourselves rather than our Facebook friends. But how far would go to get away from it all? Could you really switch off from the world? One woman did. And she found a few people to follow her too….…
Everyone makes mistakes, but there are some individuals out there who seem to be contestants in a private competition to do the dumbest thing imaginable on any given day. Dealing with them might be pretty annoying, but, on the bright side, hearing about their antics can be downright funny.
Moscow-based photographer Anastasiya Dobrovolskaya is not your typical "pet photographer." Her trademark photos look like something out of a fairytale, but everything is real—from beautiful and unique people to breathtaking landscapes, and a variety of animals you wouldn't expect to pose alongside people. Foxes, tigers, owls, snakes, horses, goats, anything you can think of is featured in Dobrovolskaya's incredible portfolio, including the most-wanted bear model, Stepan, who was rescued as a cub and raised by loving humans.
The easiest way for us to get a glimpse into the good old days is to open up our family's photo album. But what if we go through the images and instead of calming down our curiosity, they only fuel it? Easy. We open up the subreddit r/TheWayWeWere next.
Architecture is meant to fulfill both practical and expressive requirements, and thus it serves both utilitarian and aesthetic purposes. When you look at a structure, you can distinguish these two ends but they cannot be separated, and the relative weight each of them carry can vary widely. Plus, every society has its own, unique relationship to the natural world and its architecture usually reflects that as well, allowing people from other places to learn about their environment, as well as history, ceremonies, artistic sensibility, and many aspects of daily life.
What's "in" in music can vary from day to day, but one of the genres that is still going strong after several decades is swing. If you're looking for a place to do your own swinging in the Chicago area, here are some of the best swing dance venues around.
I'm sure at one time or another you've been part of a Secret Santa gift exchange. This year I was a recipient of a secret Santa gift from the Temecula Quilt Co quilt shop. I have never been to the shop in Temecula, California, or never have met the shop owner, Sheryl Johnson, but she shared a wonderful secret Santa mystery quilt design with anyone who read her blog. What an awesome gift! Each week we received another clue. A little more cutting and some more sewing. Nine patches... 4 patches... Greens... and plenty of Reds and Neutrals. Lots of oldies, but goodies, for sure. After 5-6 weeks this sweet Christmas variation of the classic Burgoyne Surrounded quilt was sewn together. "Secret Santa" 42" x 54" I machine quilted using a 28wt. Aurifil thread. I love the texture it created. Snowflakes, and snow blowing swirls. Of course, there were lots of things I should have been working on, but it was exciting to get a mystery Secret Santa gift each week. This pattern has been on my perpetual list for 20+ years. Sheryl divided up the construction in easy and doable segments. I think 2019 will find me FINALLY making this pattern 1991 in the indigo and white fabrics I had planned so long ago. Thanks, Sheryl for sharing your mystery with all of us. It was a fabulous seasonal project. Wishing you all a Happy Holiday season and Merry Christmas. We'll catch up after the New Year. Until Then- Kyle
