One of my wonderful customers contacted me a few months ago. Her mother wanted to sell me some of her mothers furniture. So my customers grandparents furniture. We worked out a deal and loaded it all up. This had a hutch that went on top. Thinking of doing the hutch into a cabinet with some feet. Anyway, here was the buffet part. I actually had it up for sale as is, just to give it a chance before I tackled it. It was 28" high below. So kinda short. I added some feet to the front and back. Then added some wood planks to the top. Stained those in a custom stain mix. Sealed in a flat poly. I painted the body in Annie Sloan Old Ochre. Distressed edges. Added new updated knobs. But kept the original top handles. Left the inside original. Shelves are adjustable. Love how everything came out!! Ahhhh!! I love it!! SOLD! Made by Bernhardt. 61"w/15.5"d/33"h Before/After.
One of our previous clients contacted me and wanted these beautiful John Widdecomb italian provincial nightstands set we had in our inventory. She wanted us to paint them in the chateau finish we did for on a gorgeous italian provincial dresser she ordered from us last year. Here is the before of the nightstands set below. We had to strip them of course. Then I went to work on the painted process with Annie Sloan chalk paint. Beautiful! Here is the dresser below she ordered from us and had us custom paint last year. Her room looks gorgeous!
One of our repeat clients wanted to see if we had any bookshelves for her sons room. So I showed her this unique old antique shelf with drawers that we had. It just needed two shelves. The before pictures are below. The bottom veneer was chipped and the foot was completely chipped half off. She wanted to keep the look of the wood just freshened up and repaired on the chipped parts. So we repaired all the cosmetic major parts. As you can see here John repaired the foot to T. I stained and sealed the whole piece. Added and painted the new knobs. Here's the foot that was chipped off... John did a excellent job. We cut some shelves and I custom matched it. She absolutely loved it!
We had this nightstands set up for sale as is for awhile. I had a idea in my head for these. I pulled off the knobs as it was missing one, John sealed up the holes. Added puddy to the damaged areas.... glued loose veneer... Replaced damaged slides.... . Primed and painted it all white..... Color is Ben Moore Out of Can White...... I have lots of different legs, I picked these though I think they go better with the style... Added thick wood planks to the back of the nightstands.... Found the perfect knobs to bring out the beauty in these nightstands.... They look so much better now!
We had this beautiful duncan phyfe buffet for some time in our inventory. I wanted to put a painted piece of my own design out for sale and chose this buffet. Here is the before below. We repaired cosmetic damage. Stripped the top down. Then, I refinished the top. I used a custom mix of stains for the refinished top. Sealed it in a satin poly. I decided to keep this beautiful hardware. I also painted and antiqued the hardware also. Painted the body in a light gray chalk paint I custom mixed. Antiqued it in some areas but no distressing. I really love how it came out!
I had this triple drawer dresser in my inventory for some time about a year. Pulled it out and went to work on it. Here is the before...I removed the big handles and the backplate/knob on the middle cabinet door Stripped it down to bare wood, nice smooth sanding job sealed in all the holes from the handles and nail holes primed it and painted it a soft gray by Ben Moore called nightingale went on a search for the perfect knobs.... antiqued the backplates decor on the top drawers and cabinet drawer hinges Looks way better then the before. An elegant clean look.
New client picked this from our inventory. She wanted a chest of drawers and I showed her a few I had in stock not listed in my inventory album. I'm just so busy with painting and orders I don't have time to take photos of everything I have. I try to get a few in a week. Here is the before of this beautiful duncan phyfe chest on chest. She wanted a white distressed look with some refinished wood incorporated in the piece to match her grandmothers chest she had already in her guest room. Sanded, primed and painted everything. Used ben moore ultra white in semi gloss. She wanted my thoughts on which part to refinish. I decided on the top two drawers. Hardware kept original and it's beautiful! Came out so beautiful... She loved it as you can see in the post above :)
A new client found my blog online, contacted me thru my blog, picked out this mid century modern chest of drawers from our inventory. She loved my current inventory and our work. When clients view my blog and close up pictures of our finish they always fall in love. She was undecided on what color, as this was for her small daughter's room. So I picked a few colors from Benjamin Moore for her, Her daughter decided on this mellow teal. Here are the befores below. This needed some cosmetic work as you can see. Chipped and peeled veneer everywhere. We stripped and sanded down. Repaired all the chipped and missing veneer, this is included in all our custom painted prices. Sealed in all dents. Sealed in the edges and reshaped them. I primed it all. Painted it the beautiful teal. Shined and polished the hardware, Beautiful!
Second custom piece we did for this new client. She is just the sweetest person! Anyway she wanted us to paint her mid century modern buffet. Here is the before below. We sanded it down as you can see below. She chose Grayish by Sherwin Williams. I color matched it with Benjamin Moore because it's my favorite latex paint to use. After I primed it I painted it in grayish. Hardware painted in gold. Then she wanted a semi gloss sheen. So after I painted I sealed in semi gloss sealer. She didn't want the inside painted. Looks so chic! Clean look and very beautiful 💞
We found this dresser in very very very used condition. As you can see below. Missing hardware pieces. Chipped veneer in various places. Formica top was okay. More chipped veneer. Sanded down after we sealed in those chopped veneer pieces. Sealed in the scratches on the sides. I painted it in Luxe by Joanna Gaines Magnolia Chalk Paint. Its a green with gray undertones so it softens the green so it's not so bright. Very neutral. Changed out the hardware with some knobs I loved from Hobby Lobby that they discounted :/ So I stained the bottom drawers and bottom base in a dark walnut then sealed in a flat sealer. This was my initial design I wanted. Then I asked John to come see it. He looks at it and says wow! But how about we change it up some and he put the bottom drawers in the middle. I loved it! But I loved the bottom drawer look too! Then he goes okay how about this...and puts the stained drawers on the top!! I was like oh my Gosh!! Please stop!! I loved that too! I just couldn't decide. I love all three looks! ❌SOLD❌ 18"d/52"w/30.25"h Cash or Zelle only upon pick up or delivery. Delivery to 1st floor only available for an additional fee of $20. www.facebook.com/PieceOfCandyFurniture
Client contacted me and wanted to know if I had any buffets in stock. I had this one for like a year in my fixer upper stock. Showed it to her and she loved it. It needed some repair as the body was coming apart from the whole structure. Then the right leg was chewed up. Leg chewed up below. I showed her this picture I found on Instagram painted by Katie Co. which was the exact buffet. She loved that look but wasn't sure. She researched awhile and kept coming back to this design. Which is what she decided on. Top was stripped along with top 3 drawers. Picture below. We repaired the structure to make it solid again. Then repaired the chewed foot to match the rest. Picture below. Body was painted in general finishes linen and distressed edges. Top stained and top 3 drawers stained in dark walnut. Hardware painted in dark bronze. Everything sealed in semi gloss sealer. She wanted the inside left alone. Looks amazing! I love love love how beautiful it came out!
One of our repeats clients came to us with more of their furniture they wanted us to custom paint. Most of the time we have a waiting list that is months long. My clients are very patient in waiting, which I so much appreciate. These particular clients we have already done 6 pieces for them in the past year. This order will make 9! Love it! I have numerous clients with just about the same numbers of pieces we've done. I'm so glad our clients appreciate our hard work. Ok, here we go. this was a before of the desk top, we get started on them and I forget to take befores sometimes. Which I did with this one. They wanted a refinished top and a soft teal on bottom. No distress. we stripped everything even the top, forgot to take the picture of that part.... but I got the bottom, primed the bottom and painted it teal.... it's going to match the teal we did on the dresser with silver handles which you can see in a previous post.... stripped and stained the top... Then hvlp sprayed a poly over that.... It looks really cute! Next, was the dresser. Here's the before.... remembered to take a picture before, we had already started the repairs and stripping.... stripped it down.....this one had a formica top.... primed everything and painted it the light cream... no distress and kept the handles original... Had some slight cracks in the wood on the drawers, we had to seal those in.... Looks fantastic! Last, is the vanity.... the before below... stripped it all down and repaired where needed.... primed it all and she wanted a metallic champagne color.. Looks really beautiful, I love metallic colors!

They look amazing! www.pieceofcandyfurniture.com Before and after below.
We got this rare italian provincial antique buffet like 3 years ago and it needed extensive repair. It was pulled apart as you can see below. It looks to be from the early 1900s. We added new back and bottom. Here it is below after we repaired it. I primed it then painted it in Sherwin Williams alabaster but color matched it to Benjamin Moore paint. It's a off white very beautiful neutral color I think. Painted the bottom caps on legs dark bronze. Distressed edges. Stained the interior drawers. Added new hardware and painted it dark bronze. ❌SOLD❌Priced at $350 54"w/22.5"d/38"h With back height is 43"5 total. Cash only, message if interested. John got this at a garage sale it was badly damaged. Before below. One of our family members wanted something they could use as a coffee bar. They asked if we had anything. I sent them this picture above. Said it would be perfect for that! This was one of those pieces he worked on the side while waiting for other custom work to dry from repair work. He added a new back splash. Took off all the damaged veneer from the top. Repaired the broken leg. Added a new support for the bottom middle as it was missing when we got it. After below. I stained it in a custom mix stain. Had to even out the look too as some stained lighter then other parts. That is very difficult, sometimes it can be unachievable on my end. But I try every time, down fall of being a perfectionist... I'm working on that though! Sealed in a semi gloss sealer. Looks beautiful! It's amazing how many pieces we save. Perfect coffee bar!
This particular one I painted in my own color & design. I forgot to take a before but you can visualize it. We sanded it down not to complete bare wood except for the top. Then I primed and painted it. We did have to repair some wood slides. Painted in restoration hardware paint color butter cream. Distressed edges and painted hardware in oil rubbed bronze. Our beautiful smooth flat no brush stroke thin finish. This was sold the next day after I listed it. She loved our work so much she had me do a mirror to match. Last week she brought me a nightstand she wants me to paint to match the dresser. Hopefully I can get to that soon. We're extremely busy with lots of clients painted orders. That's why I got backed up on my posts. Listed I think 5 today.
This table set and sofa table was a clients who wanted me to paint it in Alabaster by Sherwin Williams. Since my favorite is Benjamin Moore I color matched it. We stripped it down and it was messy plus took forever. Sofa table was a dream to sand down. I forgot to take a photo of the table top stripped. Almost forgot to take them at all. Primed and painted them. Sealed the table top. Sealed everything else in our high quality wax finish. Looks beautiful and so much cleaner.
I had this antique french buffet for two years in my inventory. It had a hutch that was removable. I’ll be making that into a stand alone shelf soon. Before above and below. Tons of cabinet space! Removed the green felt boards from drawers on top. We removed the french hardware. I wanted this to be look more modern farmhouse. Sealed in all the older hardware holes, pinholes, all the knick and dents we could see. Stripped the top. I painted it in lamp black by general finishes milk paint. Purchased new modern knobs. These are my absolute favorite knobs! Sealed in semi gloss sealer. ✨SOLD✨ Instagram @pieceofcandyfurniture www.facebook.com/PieceOfCandyFurniture Look at that before and after! I’m loving how gorgeous this turned out!
I had found this vintage buffet a while back. Was waiting to work on it once I finished all my customer orders. Now, that I started limiting customers orders I can start doing my project pieces. I love doing my own pieces so much! This buffet I didn’t like the plastic fronts. Didn’t like the hardware. Didn’t like the bottom skirt. I first removed the skirt trim. Still didn’t like it. So I removed the plastic front decor. Then cut the wood fronts and sides on bottom. After cutting it, I wanted some added layer to the bottom. So we added more wood trim just to the bottom underneath it. We added some wood legs to each side. Filled in all the holes from the plastic decor. Also filled in the older handle holes. I purchased new antique bronze modern hardware. Removed the back because it had a hole in it. Added a new back. All prepped and I was loving it! It was coming out just like I had envisioned. Primed it gray, then painted it in Benjamin Moore Chelsea Gray. Added the new modern hardware. I painted everything, all the inside cabinets areas. Love it! So happy with the look!! ✨SOLD✨ Instagram @pieceofcandyfurniture www.facebook.com/PieceOfCandyFurniture Before/After!
I had this piece in my current as is unpainted inventory for sale. I pulled it and decided to custom paint it in my own color and design. Here is the before below. We filled in the top four knobs and added some extra holes on the bottom drawers. Stripped it all down and filled in some veneer that had bubbled up. I wanted to stain the drawers because of the beautiful wood on drawers, but once stained it covered it all up. So, I painted it using general finishes milk paint in queenstown gray. Added some duncan phyfe handles. Then aged it with some van dyke brown glaze. Sealed the final coat in a satin finish. Love the small removeable tray too! I think it came out really nice :)
Client who was flooded in Harvey picked this french dresser and nightstand set from our inventory. She fell in love with our work we had done for her friend ( another client of ours). These are the before pictures below. This dresser below had veneer damage which we repaired. We stripped everything down. She wanted updated hardware, so we sealed in those old hardware holes. We added new wood tops to the nightstands the before tops where made from some fake leather. Painted in a navy clean finish. Here is the new hardware on the middle dresser drawers. New hardware. Looks very clean and updated. Love the outcome 💖 Next post will be her antique dining set we also did with this order.
This was for a new client who wanted her patio swing set repainted. It was peeling and needed some repair on loose rusted screws/bolts. Before pictures below. Here is it after we finished it. Nice clean crisp white. I did numerous coats...I mean alot. Love how it looks!!
We found this antique chest of drawers awhile back in bad shape.... So we repaired it off and on while waiting on pieces we were working on to dry... Stripped it down... . primed it all... This is the color I chose, a light soft pink, called Powder Pink by Benjamin Moore. A very subtle pink color. Then painted it all in our professional flat finish. I left all the cracks and dents on this one, I usually seal that all up as shown in my previous posts. I couldn't take that away with this one as it's old and wanted to stay with that look. I distressed the edges... smooth finish... Added these beautiful ceramic teal flower knobs with gold tips.... replaced all the inner bottom drawers... we also replaced the back boards... So beautiful!
One of our previous clients home was flooded during Harvey. We had done a few pieces for her last year and they where destroyed. Here is the desk we had previously furnished & custom painted for her last year that was destroyed. So we both searched and she found this one below. I went to pick it up for her and she waited patiently till I could get to her order. She wanted it the same color as the previous one I did. Stripped. Primed. Painted in Restoration Hardware Graphite. Done in a clean finish, then sealed in a matte sealer. Hardware kept in original condition. Looks beautiful! Even though her pieces where destroyed by mother nature, they can be replaced. So thankful her family and herself made it out safely 💗 Next post will be the dresser that we furnished and custom painted for her, as her other dresser was destroyed.
Client loved the other hale navy directoire dresser we did for our other client who was her friend. So she picked this beautiful italian regency we had in our inventory. Before below. We sanded it down..then I primed it. My paint guy makes my perfect primer colors I need. Below it's primed. Then I painted it hale navy and sealed it in a semi gloss sealer. We had to seal in the older holes to make new holes for the lucite hardware. Painted the brass tips gold and it about matched the gold on hardware. Looks amazing :) She loved it so much!! Before and after.
Another repeat client came to us and picked these antique nightstands from our inventory. She wanted them for her guest room. She wanted a stained dark brown with black in it. Here is the before pictures below. This is after we sanded/stripped them down.... we sand to a smooth finish with no sanding swirls..... we go thru numerous steps to get it to look and feel smooth.... I custom mixed some stains and then started the staining process..... I removed the wood knobs and added these knobs we had in our workshop... stripped them, painted them, and sealed them... Last, I added the poly to protect it.... They look so beautiful, I'm in love with these!!!!!
This beautiful curved in Italian provincial dresser was picked form my inventory by a client. She wanted a 80"wide dresser and loved this one! She also wanted it in a chateau finish. Here is the before picture. Gorgeous right? We sanded down the top to get rid of major dents and scratches.. then I went to work on the painting process... I used a brush for this technique...no hvlp sprayer on this one.... I hand painted everything...... aged it in certain areas..... I just aged where I thought would look best and more original.... took all hardware off and kept it original.... I not only do smooth flat latex finishes, I also do chalk paint finishes! All self taught, too! My client LOVED it! So do I!
A new client contacted us for a dresser set she wanted custom painted in a special paint with a specific color. This could not be matched 100% to any other paint. Which is why she wanted this particular brand. With this paint, it's very tricky. You can only use their primer, so I couldn't use my usual primer with this particular paint. Here is the before, forgot to take the picture of the mirror. Had a lot of ridges.....very rough. We sanded it all down though. This is the paint. Primed it and then painted it all. She wanted the color Mahogany, which is a brown color with a slight red tint. Next, added a polycrylic finish to it. She wanted the handles in a brushed nickel. So we stripped the hardware and custom painted them. Here is the mirror we did also. She loved it! Very satisfied client. Beautiful!
I found this claw foot antique cabinet years ago. Never had time to get to it. But, now that I’ve took this year off of customer orders.. I’m finally getting to my pieces that I have been wanting to get too. It was missing one board on the side. Both shelves where gone inside also. I added new knobs to the top small drawer. I made some slat shelves and I wanted them to be very knotty. So I tried to pick the worst ones at the hardware store. Stained the slats in a dark stain. The sealed those in general finishes flat high performance. Painted the outside of the cabinets in a black with distressed edges. Added some antiquing to it with dark wax. Also added new handles to the cabinet doors. Then added chicken wire and painted that black too. Oh and added some magnetic closures. This would be perfect for a coffee bar. Or just for books in the living room. ✨SOLD✨ www.facebook.com/PieceOfCandyFurniture @pieceofcandyfurniture on Instagram
I love these old 60s 70s end tables. Put a high base lamp on them and they'll totally stand out. I actually have 3 sets of old 60s 70s lamp sets in my home. I love them! Painted them in shabby white distressed look. I aged the hardware in a gold bronze look. Super spacious drawers. If you have a low profile bed these would be amazing nightstands. They look so much better than they did in the before picture. Available. message if interested.
Client was referred to us by someone who seen our work online. These where clients own pieces. The possibilities are endless in how your furniture can be updated. For the past 4 years most of our client custom painted orders have been their own pieces that they've had for years. Here are the before pictures below. She wanted a layered look. I used Annie Sloan chalk paint for this look. They came out absolutely amazing! So beautiful! We also freshen up her antique iron bed in an all white. I'll be adding those pictures once I get a good picture tomorrow before we deliver.
I had purchased this dresser with a matching chest of drawers. I was going to work on it eventually. A customer wanted to come view a restored mcm dresser I had done for her nursery. She seen this one and wanted to know what my plans where for it. I told her my design and she wanted first dibs on it before I list. Before above. I removed the plastic decor pieces on the top drawers. Sanded it all down because the original finish was chipping and worn. Sealed in all the holes from the plastic decor and older hardware holes. I had purchased new modern updated hardware for this one. Added the new hardware holes. I painted it in my new favorite color called Black Bamboo. It looks darker in this picture. It's more of a softer army green color. I love it! Sealed in a sprayed flat sealer. New antique bronze modern hardware. Her and her husband loved it! So it was purchased, couldn't list it! Before and after below.
Our wonderful repeat client asked picked 2 different dressers from our inventory. One was the teal french dresser 2 posts back. This is the other which is a mid century italian white fine dresser. I found this beautiful very wide and old french provincial buffet last year. It's 94.5" wide. I had it up as custom painted only. New customer put an order in for it last October or November. We are booked for months. She waited patiently. Here it is before below. She wanted my chalk painted cream distressed finish with a stained dark top. It was painted in a dark reddish brown color. So we stripped everything down. I wanted that natural wood to show up not the painted look it had. Stained the top in general finishes espresso. Sealed in a semi gloss. Body painted in cream. Distressed the edges. I had this beautiful hardware and added that to the middle drawers. Painted the inside also. Had red felt in the first drawer so we removed that. Boy was that fun! Here it is all completed looking gorgeous! She is very happy with the outcome!

New client order. She wanted this bookshelf she had custom painted in duck egg blue, then antiqued. Before below. Beautiful! 💖
We found this french provincial chest and it needed some cosmetic repair work as you can see below. So we repaired all the missing veneer and sanded most of it down. I primed it all. Then, I decided to paint it in graphite by Restoration Hardware. It is a muted gray in a matte finish. Painted the hardware in a iron steel color. Our smooth professional finish. No distressing a clean look. This looks fantastic!
